I really have been utterly pwnd since I made the mistake of not hiring the qara-suu before my attack on egypt.
so hats off to you quirl and zim, you have utterly defeated me.

ANNOUNCEMENT!
I just took 60 regions in the Lords of the East hotseat which means the Qara-Suu have won this game. Personally, I would like to have this game continue, but I'll present the option to you guys:
Option 1:
- We call it quits and end the game.
Option 2:
- We continue playing a "last man standing" kind of match, going until only one player remains... or we can set up some different set of rules to be agreed upon by the players.
Regardless of you guys' decision, I will likely have to stop playing as the Qara-Suu. I'll remain as your gracious host, but I just don't have the time to play hotseats like I used to. Nonethless, I know a number of you have grown very attached to your mutual factions and may wish to continue playing. If that is the case, let's continue and find out who is TRULY the lord of the east!
So let me know my brothers! Insha'Allah, we will all come to duel each other in the future! :D

It was a good match up, althought I'm a bit resigned over the some aspects of the BC campaign I throughly enjoyed it.
Good Game Quirl, Even though we never really did battle, I have to say it was a good match up, I'm looking forward to starting a new campaign.
For the record Quirl, this was perhaps one of the best Hosted campaigns i've played, and I really hope that you continue to host more of the same in the future, I will defiently join!
Thanks, man! I really enjoyed hosting this with all of you. Sorry I wasn't as diligent with this hotseat near the end as I was at the beginning. Nonetheless, it was super fun to play the nefarious Qara-Suu and I really enjoyed watching all your empires expand and scheme along with mine. :D

It's a shame how a campaign dies out, because some get bored and others quit because they perceive their future in campaign as hopless ...:shame:
My vote is for continuation, with the option to replace players who want to quit. I could find interested players at twcenter.
Quirl, if you want to be considered the winner, you must fight to the end, not quit when your faction peaked.

I thought the end was when one faction reached the victory conditions? The time to challenge him would have been before that, surely?
I don't mind fighting on, but it's clear to me that Quirl has won the game and I'll be dead in a few turns anyway if the Qara-Suu and Romans continue their advance.

My victory condition was to have one more settlement, Thatta. But I ignored that condition because that's an artificial set condition, you are not really the victor as long as there are factions who could challange you. But I don't care who's the winner in the end, it's about the experience and the road to destination, and it's a shame a campaign who reached maturity to be terminated so abruptly. Depending on how many want to quit, I'm disposed to find replacements.

I don't mind either way. I'll be playing a secondary role in this one if we continue. The way I see it, it will end up in a massive showdown between the Qara-Suu and the Rajputs, with the Romans likely to side with the Rajputs. But that's just a guess. ;)
Anyway, this game has been great! Awesome players, superb host, nice speed and alot of action. I really hope all of you join the next hotseat to launch here, whether it's PM's Glorious Achievements or something else. Keep Up The Good Hotseating! :D

i think even if u guys did go on fighting its almost impossible to stop a faction like Quirls once it has become that big no matter what but the mongols. trust me i do know what im talking about…

im curious to see how this is going to end. actually its cool Civic now will do get a chance to get his elephants rolling otherwise he d pretty much played this whole thing for nothing. this means though there will be a victim to those trunks pretty soon. will be interesting to see whether some secret diplomacy will delay the Kwarzmenians end. maybe u are going to make them ur spear head against the rajputs Quirl? some good old fashioned secret cia warfare? supporting him with money? or are u going to attack the shah urself in order to seize his territories? i mean something is better than nothing… or maybe some bad secret alliance turning kwarzmenia into poland 1939. nasty… i mean surly this will be a stand off between u and the rajputs - and the minor factions that are going to choose side unless u are going to conquer it all Quirl. i guess Phonics crusaders probably will be done soon making it rome, kypchacs maybe ayyubids too unless they got killed vs rajputs and oman if they do not change side. interesting

Dear Crusaders and Ayyubids, only Kipchacks win from your war, you will end up both destroyed or damaged beyond recover, you should have ended this war earlier when your potential was still intact. If GOIA and the Shah could make peace why couldn't you? I had the upper hand in the war with the Shah, but why exaust my country and people in a prolonged war?

I hired the Kypchaks to save me from the KoJ, and that will soon have succeeded. Why would I want to end a war when my only chance of getting reasonably powerful again is fighting it to the bitter end, hoping for the best? But I guess, had phonics halted before he entered Egypt things might have been different. However, as it is, my potential hasn't been intact since the KoJ invaded, pretty much.

seriously why are u guys still playing this campaign? i mean come on it is so over. didnt expect it to be that obvious. the kypchacs are stronger than the mongols in wrath of the khan and we actually did quit this campaign which i did second since the thing pretty much was over. it was just a matter of time. here in lords of the east it is even more obvious. there is a point of no return in each of those matches. once this point has been passed it is obvious who will be victorious in the end. and once this happened the joy and fun one gets out of it is gone. i mean even if all factions united against the kypchacs they still wont stand a chance there is simply no way to stop them from conquering the entire west if Quirl wanted to. and once he is done with the west he actually is? omnipotent? its just a matter of time. this is just managing dead meat for all of u guys because there simply is no way to stop Quirl. sorry Civic but there is no chance for the rajputs either. i do understand that u wanna fight on after u put so much time into this but even the rajput elephants wont stand a chance. Quirl could easily get 4 or 5 full armies going against 1 of urs and u can recruit ur elphants in india only and its a long way to get them into the iranian heartland or the steps trust me i know what im talking about. sorry man but its absolutely illusionary to fight against half a continent no matter how strong those elephants actually might be. whatever im not a quitter so i will go on but like seriously there is absolutely no sense to it. and yea man i do know u actually wanted to end this so im not saying that it is u bro who desperately wants to conquer the entire world. u guys obviously agreed to go on and maybe u still get fun out of it like irritating each other but the sparkling of an open campaign is so gone. it actually is somehow ruining the feeling of the whole thing. whatever... the real epic downfallen crusaders next i just can imagine how it felt to go down that epic

Quirl just told me that he continued his offensive in turkey. well with the kypchacs proceeding again now the romans are doomed. it would take 3 or 4 turns only and im not going to just manage dead meat. also getting computer bonuses the romans not ruled by a human in this situation surly will put on a better fight so im out. that should be good news for u Phonics although the inevitable has just been suspended i guess

Well, it seems it's all over for the monkey - I fought two losing battles and my faction is destroyed.
Amazingly, this is the first time I've ever been knocked out of a hotseat game. It's also the first time in all my years of playing TW campaigns that I have seen the losing video.
So for that if nothing else this game has been unique.
I very much enjoyed this one - both my meteoric rise and my tragic collapse. It's been emotional, as a countryman of mine once said.

No problem at all, I enjoyed it. I was actually still full of grand plans right up to the death. When you caught me at Alexandria I was about to make my escape onto my ships and head for Constantinople to start over...just a little too late I guess.
Does anybody know if the KoJ is a horde faction in this version of BC? (lol)

Your faction already launched that crusade in the Holy Lands against me and I had to kill that big stack just sitting there outside of Acre. Jeeze. I had to collect as many men as I could to defeat it and I lost hundreds of them. Not the way I was wanting to use my soldiers just as the Rajputs are heading over from the East. :laugh4:

I made a single mistake which was failing to make sure Quirl was onside. If I had hired him up for some mission against the Rajputs or whatnot before I attacked you in Egypt he would have been busy elsewhere and I would have had time to consolidate my gains and put up a defence of my borders in case he turned on me later.
As it was I had expanded so quickly and stretched my forces out so thin that I wasn't able to defend myself against his concentrated attack. KoJ recruitment really sucks outside of the home regions and there aren't as many mercs in this version as there were in 1.05
Anyways I enjoyed the ride.
Farewell Crusaders, I regret we will never meet in battle, we Rajputs heard many stories about your prowes in battle and we hoped sometime the day will come to measure our martial skills.

Kypchacks and Ayyubids stop exchanging lands in order to obtain free garisson. It's not the first time this happens, you did it at least one more time on turn 31 in the middle of the war with Crusaders - maybe this is your secret to their sudden fall. Are you that desperate now to defeat me that you feel the need to do it again? It's sad to see the gamemaster violating his/her own rules.
No exploits. The following exploits are banned.
* Re-loading of save game to play the turn again in a different way, or to create a different outcome.
* Surround and destroy exploit (relating to agents, also to armies or ships engaged in battle. An escape route of at least one tile must be left.)
* Deliberately setting up tribute deals which will result in a faction going more than 20k in debt.
* Deliberately exchanging territories for the sole purpose of gaining a free garrison.
* Deliberate manipulation of the diplomacy system in order to break a siege, or achieve any other unrealistic in-game outcome.
* Merchant fort/army exploit
* Attacking ships which are docked in port is prohibited.
* Deliberately sallying out to rob the attacking player of the "occupation options" screen (sallying out with a 1:4 chance of victory or less is forbidden)

I seriously doubt that is the case, since Quirl's the one who reminded me of the rule back when I exchanged some territory with him. And it came with some pretty horses too :P Oh well
No offense CiviC, but don't talk out of your ass. The Ayyubids are my vassals. They exchanged territories with me because that was part of the vassalship agreement. And I'm rushing to class right now and don't remember what specific instance you're talking about on turn 31, but I can guarantee you that a few saracen militia in some randomly exchanged territory I don't even remember right now didn't cause the death of the Crusaders. Give me a break. Play the game or leave.

I tell you what, whatever it was that came hording at me out of the steppes (and I have to say it kicked my ass so fast and hard I didn't get the chance to have a good look at it) I can tell you it wasn't six or seven full stacks of garrison troops

I think the event on turn 31 you mention was when phonicsmonkey sallied against all Quirl's sieges, declining Quirl the chance of choosing whether to occupy/sack/exterminate. So, he gifted them to me during his turn. I proceeded to disband all the troops I recieved (which I couldn't afford, nor, with respect to the rule you quote, had any desire to keep). This allowed Quirl to take the settlements, sack/exterminate as he wished. All fair play, but I understand it might have seemed suspicious from your point of view.
The latest exchanges have all been, as Quril mentioned, to finalize the vassalization. I assure you, there has been no intention to cheat involved in any way, although, as I said, it would look odd for you with only the right-click on map way of informing yourself.

I don't understand why the demand to respect the letter and the spirit of your own rules makes you "loose appeal" for the game. Also I don't understand why my legitimate demand is causing a "scene". I only asked some players to stop ping ponging large numbers of provinces at once thus distorting the game.

I enjoyed this game, being my first hotseat :), but it has lost all its momentum and interrest. The story is pretty much dead and the gameplay is down to how many troops will Quirl need to assemble to take out the overpowered elephants (Which although strong, would eventually loose to the Qara-suu/allies combined power). So I have to vote to end this game, there is just no fun left in dragging it out.

The only question that I might ask the Kypchaks or Ayyubids, was did these exchange of cities take place while the war raged on, to make it easier for the Ayyubids downfall?,

Turn 31) The Ayyubids immediately disbanded their units and emptied the settlements. I gained no free garrisons, because no settlements were exchanged with me diplomatically. The Ayyubids recieved and lost all settlements in question on turn 31, so Barca recieved no income from taxation on those settlments.
Turn 41) The Ayyubids handed me their African and Arabian settlements diplomatically as per the vasslaship agreement. The settlements had very low public order in consequence, requiring extensive free garrison troops to keep them from going in the red (costing upkeep and taxation). I handed the settlements back this turn with the intention of the Ayyubids disbanding their units again and abanding the settlements. I would then take back the settlements, sack them, and thus increase public order (allowing me to disband that mess of free garrison troops and not have to worry about the settlements dipping in the red). This would meet the requirement of Barca's vassalship and we could continue on with the game.
Currently, in RL, I'm taking 15 hours of classes, am moving my girlfriend out of her apartment (which was robbed two weeks ago), am dealing with tight finances while trying to purchase a new vehicle, and am just in general busy. These hotseats are meant as a form of escape and entertainment. As soon as they cease to be entertaining there is, in my mind, no reason on continuing them (especially on continuing one I have to host and manage). If this is how it's gonna be, I'll be glad to hand the game over to Phonics or something if the majority of you guys wish to continue playing. Otherwise, frankly, I'm way too stressed and busy to deal with this kind of childish **** right now. Sorry mates.

I'm not sure my vote counts, because I am out of this game, but in my view it has run its course and given the lack of trust between the two main adversaries I foresee only more acrimony if it continues.
I'm not willing to take over as GM I'm afraid - I just don't have time right now.
Let's not end this on a down note though - this was a great game, everyone got into it, the RP was immersive, the story thread is a great read and the in-game events couldn't have been more dramatic. Great job Quirl and all players! More games like this please!

Sad ending, but I guess it wasn't really surprising. As everyone else said, bad way to end a fantastic hotseat! I'd say you did a great job of hosting Quirl, and you clearly put alot of time into it (especially at the start). Lots of hugs and praise to you, respected 2nd Throne Room Game Master in Command. :)
Of course, thanks to all the players that made this game very enjoyable, despite some bumps along the road.

If you are curious what caused my outrage, download the last Ayyubids turns (39, 40 and 41) and press "m" for password. You'll see how large amounts of provinces, they don't even bother to remind their names (they numbered them 01, ... 09, etc.) are changing hadns from one turn to another with the consequence of gaining lots of valuable free garisson. Don't be fooled by their explanations they will disband them, that's because they were caught in the act. Anyway, even if the reason was to have high public order, that's also an exploit, because the most powerfull faction in the game obtained an unfair advantage by obtaining by unrealistic means settlements that need low garissons and can have high taxes, something that allows to use free their resources.
I was the gamemaster of many more hotseats then Quirl in twcenter, and I'm disgusted by the way she abused her powers, while making other players to obey to her rules, rules that were changed even during the game to fit her interests. Quirls you can claim you are the "winner" but be sure you lost my respect; anyway my home is at twcenter and this time spent at the .org leaves me a bitter taste. Other players maybe too naive and beleive her, but I know her true face and her childish reactions from our private conversations on the subject. I hope she learns something from this : crime doesn't pay!
