Well, I have no idea how we are all going to get rested other than everyone running back to the foyer and sleeping, with those who have rested guarding us all. :juggle2::juggle2:

Back in 16+ hours, 'scuse me.

@My group: I think our expedition is doomed to fail, too many locations equate too many opportunities to fail :juggle2::juggle2:

Dont worry so much, seeing as I'll be bringing any inactives along with me you should at least survive till we get to the shed.
Oh and I have first dibs on any blow torches or any cutting implements that could get through Iron.

The Mansion: Phase 2

The jobs are set, and Donna (Askthepizzaguy) and David (scottishranger) were asked to stay behind and garrison the Foyer, as well as watch over Dean (Tratorix) who had been injured recently.

The two watched as the other seventeen left the area, and not wasting any time the attractive mid-20’s dirty-blonde bombshell made her move. David, an early 30’s certified nurse, was caught off guard but did not fight Donna’s sexual desires for lip lock…

Dean slept peacefully throughout.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Brian (Elite Ferret) led Daniel (Johnhughthom) and Clarence (Beefy187) through the already familiar Hall B and into the Conservatory…

They found a medium sized room with glass walls and ceiling, and a large bush obstructing their view of the outside. It was daytime, for they could see the sky. But the bushes and vines grew up and blocked much of the sunlight.

They scouted the room for Hostiles, and when they found none they searched the room for anything useful.

Brian went around the edge searching the multiple shelving system for plants, which of course had many pots of dirt with dead plants in it, while Daniel and Clarence searched the center shelving. Clarence looked in the far corner and found three small hand shovels, a water hose with good water which drained through a small hole in the center of the room, and two bottles of spray pesticides.

“Yo Bry, you think these are useful?” Holding them up for Brian to see across the room.

“Why not? Bring them with us!”

“What about some pesticides? We have anyone that knows chemicals?”

Brian acknowledged him with excitement, “I’m a chemical engineer, I’ll think of something!”

The three returned to the Foyer with their loot.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Lorraine (Captain Blackadder) was chosen to garrison Bedroom B, which had been recovered and secured by the others, and so she did. Expecting another, by the name of Nicole Reed, she entered the “secure” room and locked the door behind her.

Fear showed its ugly face, where was Nicole? She sat on the bed, in the very center, curled up in the ball, not blinking.

She heard a noise from inside of the closet, which was closed. She dared not move, she was told this room was secure!

From out of the closet, a pale Hostile with sharp features, no hair, and black eyes entered the room. He stood at the end of the bed and just simply stared at Lorraine, who did not wish to move. She heard the story from Daniel that it reacts badly towards aggression. She figured she would try to talk to him, “Um… sir? I… uh, I’m sorry I’m in your room. Will yo… will you let me leave? I… uh… don’t want any trouble…”

The Hostile just stared, unemotionally. His flakey paper white skin nearly seemed to glow in the dim light. Lorraine felt a sneeze, held it in, and knew that the sudden sound and/or movement would cause alarm. Her heart began to race faster, as she held in the sneeze. The Hostile shifted, seemingly affected by her sudden change of pulse. Her fear overwhelmed her and her eyes filled with tears. The Hostile’s face sharpened up, showing long thin sharp teeth and black gums. His skin began to “melt” and turn clear, showing his insides and blood glowing orange inside of his major veins. He jumped at Lorraine, who through her panic, had dodged towards the locked door. The Hostile landed on the bed. Lorraine reached for the key which was on the dresser right next to the door. The Hostile leaped at her, and as she opened the door the Hostile, which was still in its growing phase, unhinged its jaw and took a large overly exaggerated bite out of Lorraine’s lower back (-8 hp). She screamed in agony and passed out as another woman ran to her aid…

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Upon leaving the foyer Steven (Greyblades) led his team of two consisting of Jose (atheotes) and Laura (CountArach) through Hall B. Accompanying them for the time being was the team leader Lester (Chaotix), and team members Gregory (Death is yonder), Ronald (spL1tp3r50naL1ty), and Jeffrey (A Very Super Market).

They all traveled into the Dining Room and there they observed at least thirty individual dining sets on the table. They all grab the useful items for themselves. This in total included seven sets of two ceramic plates, two forks, one spoon, and two butter knives.

They continued on into the Ball Room, which was virtually desolate except for a few random pieces of furniture against the large room’s walls and an old dusty piano in a back corner.

Steven says, “We don’t have much time to explore this room, we have bigger things to accomplish.”

Everyone agreed, and they made it to the back door, which was unlocked.

They exited the Mansion and there found a large back yard consisting of a large garden in front of them, a shed off slightly to their left, and even further to their left they saw an empty pool and pool house. “The mission…” Gregory said, “Is the shed. Let’s get in and get out. We don’t want bloodshed.”

The team agreed and quickly made their way across the yard, opened the door, saw that there were no Hostiles, and entered it. It was small, so Steven and Lester, leaders of the two groups, entered in to see what they could find.

After a few minutes they piled up a stack of useful items, a shovel, hoe, machete, paid of extra lawn mower blades, two screwdrivers, a hammer, a box of nails, staple gun, and old power drill.

Lester says, “We have seven people, take your pick.”

Gregory had already called dibs on a light weapon, and so he took the lawn mower blades.

Jose the machete, Laura the screwdrivers, Ronald the shovel, Jeffrey the hammer, Steven the hoe, and Lester the staple gun and power drill.

At this Lester’s group left, as they were given their tools first so they could continue on to the Master Bedroom.

Steven, Jose, and Laura stayed behind for a moment, waiting. Steven pulled out an old bowie knife, “He didn’t see me take this, I figured this would be better off in our hands. We have less people after all!”

Laura smiled excitedly as Jose’s glance shot over to the base of the shed. “What’s that!?”

A Hostile crawled out from underneath the shed and stayed there for a moment in a crouched position. Steven held up the bowie knife in an offensive manner while yelling, “Get out of here!”

The Hostile stood up quickly, angered. Its skin melted away and it grew taller. The three got their weapons ready, and it attacked Laura who happened to be closest. It landed on top of her and began tearing at her neck with its teeth as she stabbed furiously at its ribs and fell to the ground. Steven reacted by stabbing at it with his knife and Jose sliced at it with his machete.

The Hostile ravaged Laura while getting attacked by all three sides, and finally with an increased effort Jose swung hard at its neck, decapitating it.

The body of the Hostile fell to Laura’s side, and the head rolled to the other.

The two grieved over her death before realizing the shadow of a key in the Hostile’s forehead. Through grief and tears Jose and Steven dug out the key and obtained Laura’s screwdrivers and her one unit of food. “She doesn’t need these anymore; she’s free from this nightmare…”

The two returned to the Foyer in dead silence and despair…

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The other party, led by Lester, passed Casey (Double A) at the bottom of the stairs. They traveled up the stairs, through Hall C, and into the Master Bedroom with caution. Once they got there they spread out and looked for any Hostiles, traps, and useful items. When they found there were no threats they also searched the Master Bathroom.

They found both rooms to be in terrible condition, dusty and ratty, spider webs and rat pellet everywhere. The bathroom had no running water, and the bedroom’s windows were bricked up just like the other bedroom was.

They put all of the items they found that were of some interest in a pile on the bed, first aid kit from the bathroom, a diary of the man who had previously lived in the Mansion (which at first glance offered no important information), a few coat hangers from the closet, a small locked box they found underneath the bed, and a key that does not match the doors or the lockbox.

Lester spoke up, “So, we gonna lug all this back?”

Jeffrey said, “We should, what do you suppose is in this box?”

Ronald piped in, “Hopefully some smokes! Maybe a playboy…”

Lester and Jeffrey laughed quietly and Gregory hushed them, “Did you hear that??” A women’s scream was heard from downstairs…

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Martin (Cultured Drizzt fan), Eric (Twilightblade), Casey (Double A), and John (Centurion1) entered Hall B in hopes to investigate the Library. They left Casey at the base of the stairs, traveled up; left John at the door of the Library, and Martin and Eric went in to investigate.

What they found was a terribly dirty, very unkempt collection of books, as well as a pair of old recliners and a table with a lamp which had no light bulb. They began looking through the books…

All of the books, every single one, had a blank cover page and spine, and every page was empty except for the last page. All of the books had the same print on the last page, which at the top read, “Clear the rogue and there you see, the light for you, the light for me.” With the last part “the light for me” marked out. Then at the bottom of the page they said, “Brilliance and luck, survivalist’s luck, observed from a higher table.”

“This is very weird…” Eric said to Martin.

“Yeah, tell me about it… what does it mean?”

“Hell if I know! Let’s take one back and see if anyone can figure it out.”

Just then, they heard a scream originate from the bottom of the stairs. They ran out; saw Lester’s team reacting to the screaming as well, coming from the Master Bedroom, and John halfway down the stairs.

When they got down they saw Lorraine lying on the ground with a huge chunk of meat missing from her lower back and an enraged Hostile standing over her staring Casey down. When the seven came down the stairs the Hostile bolted up the hallway towards the Dining Hall…

Martin and Lester carried Lorraine into the Foyer, as the rest of the crew carried their obtained items.

We did not have time to work out a way of handing over the keys and keeping the room locked until needed. :shame: Scotish can use the first aid kit to help her as much as he can. You can assign people equipment if you'd like or you can put it in a big pile somewhere and divy it out as it's needed. Up to you.

CountArach's food needs to be given to someone though.

Also, CDF could you please supply me with a list of the people and their jobs per turn in your Order PM? That would simplify my job considerably.

Also if I receive all of the PM's early I will end the phase and do the write-up. I have a feeling the next one will be much shorter.

These ghouls, and that's what they are, since zombies don't grow bigger, demons aren't fodder, and vampires are either scarier or gay, are the undead. So that means... if one of us dies... we may have another ghoul to fight...

Also everyone played Clue as a kid right? (Cluedo everywhere but USA) I feel like the ghouls have access to the secret passageways (like Kitchen to Study) that can take them into even secure rooms. So if there aren't, someone either forgot to check the closet, or they can... teleport... :sweatdrop:

Also I think everyone should reveal your job, that way we won't have to wait till you're dead to find out if you're a doctor.

I put in orders both to check the closet and to lock the door. Perhaps there was no key to lock it with, and it just wasn't mentioned in the write-up? Barring the door from the outside would not have served to keep Hostiles out, and we couldn't have barred it from the inside and left, either. I don't think there was ever a key to begin with. Perhaps the new one we found serves that purpose, or maybe it's used for another door. From what we've seen, most of these Hostiles have a key in their head.

Write-up 3

Before retiring for the night David (Scottishranger) did his best work with the first aid on Dean (Tratorix), he was able to clean up his small scratches and help his bruises but his broken ribs and sprain wrist were the unforgiveable sin for not heading the tape recorders words of "caution".

Dean had just woken up and so he was put on "conversationalist" with the other guards. Hoping to keep them awake and aware during their shifts.

Lorraine (Captain Blackadder) suffered greatly from her giant gash in her back from the beast, but it was healing slowly. She will live.

Other guards were Nicole (Beskar) who returned from the kitchen before they locked up the Foyer, Ronald (Splitpersonality), and David after he finished tending to the wounds of others.

The night was peaceful, everyone got their sleep in, and ready for the morning ahead of them.

Deaths: None
Injuries: None
Equipment: None gained
Needing Sleep: Ronald (Splitpersonality) and David (Scottishranger)
Needing Food: Daniel (Johnhughthom)

Order Phase 4 will end at approximately 15:00 GMT on Sunday!

Perhaps you should either extend the length of the phases, or only start them after the write-up has been posted. To be fair, there usually isn't a whole lot to talk about until we know exactly what happened during the last phase. I agree that there's really no reason for people not to send in orders, especially when all that was required this phase was a single sentence: "Sleep in the Foyer."

I'm surprised no one was killed... did you originally have a different write-up planned?

And yes, I planned on killing off a few people but I realized that it was the safest plan for all of you to stay in the same room with guards and barred doors. So, you all survived.

Next time there will be no mercy

Alright. Hopefully this phases plan will get some discussion going. So far getting three groups working independently from each other and each accomplishing a goal seems to be working very well. I have a plan ready for this phase.

The Storage room: Phase one we entered it and were repulsed due to a ghoul being there. If there is a guard there we can safely assume there is something important there. I plan on leading a crack team of commando's into the room and having a look around and taking whatever we need. As I expect pretty heavy resistance I will be taking some of the men with bigger weapons.

The Kitchen: A group will head to the kitchen and get the rest of our food from here, and bring it back, they should have lighter weapons, but still all be armed.

The Bedroom A: Something happened in Bedroom bathroom A. I want to know what. A group will head over there and thoroughly investigate every inch for secret tunnels. They should lock the door and bunker down there after clearing it out. Heavily armed and armored. Grab the key to the door as well.

I can divide up items later, but unless you write in thread what you want from the weapon pile I will have to randomly assign it. Please be reasonable with weapon choice. Do not ask for a ton of stuff. Some weapons have already been taken, read through he thread.

I personally will be taking the hammer.

I can assign groups if you lot want, or you can volunteer.

Also we need to see if one of the keys we have go to the lock box. also need to find what the other keys go to.

And finally, the book's we found must be some kind of riddle..... must have a purpose. They can't all say the same thing for no reason.

Nother theory coming your way...

These ghouls can sense emotions. So to not get eaten, do NOT show aggression, and if you can help it don't show fear. These two they can sense above all. I think it's not the "Hey wtf is that" kind of fear, but the kind where you need a clean pair of pants, like when Blackadder was going to sneeze. So, in order for none of us to show any emotions, I suggest we all look for a copy of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and take turns playing it.

As for the game, I am really, really enjoying being a follower in this one, not a leader, for the sake of my sanity. I can see the appeal of sitting back and letting the game happen.

I was thinking, if we were to take a hammer to the pots and pans in the kitchen and some clothing from the bedroom closets we might be able to fasion out some armour like arm plates, sholder pads, leggings e.t.c. Dont expect any good armour but it might save us from some glancing blows.

The book, from how I interpreted it, seemed to want us to kill a "rogue". Who out of us could be considered a rogue? White_eyes. I don't think we should do anything until we find more clues, but we should be wary of him now.

As for the expeditions:

You will need a balanced group of fighters for the Storeroom group, CDF. Take me with you, I've got this Staple Gun and can fight at range. Also, there is a chance that because of the nature of my weapon, I may be able to kill Hostiles before they are able to transform.

And the Bedroom in question is Bedroom B, not A. We haven't explored A yet. Also, I have a feeling about the toilet in the Bathroom, due to how it was mentioned in the first write-up. The Bedroom group may want to check that out.

it may not be bad idea to divide the whole group into 3 and ensure that one group is always sleeping.
the remaining 2 groups can be further divided for explorations. that way we wont have the same situation as the last action phase. I get the feeling that going forward we may not be fortunate enough not to be attacked while we are sleeping.

Well I want to start up an arts and crafts in the kitchen to make some armour and it might be a good idea to examine the corpse atheotes left outside to see if the wearghoul things have any weakspots. We might be able to take them down more easily if we know where to stab to pierce an internal organ.

somehow I think that would end with us all burning to death painfully and slowly. Or all of the ghouls popping out of the house and eating us. :sweatdrop: I don't think zain would let us pull something like that, especially when the ghouls would obviously jump out into the garden, and we would have to fight them all at once. I dont think that we would be burned to death as the garden is probably large enough for us to keep a safe distance, the fences won't be flamable as I think Zain would have thought of us trying to destroy them and as such prepared and the house wont drop on us as the house only has 2 floors over ground level.

We have no idea how many ghouls there are. Could be to many to take. To many unknowns. But lets say for a minute all the ghouls burn to death. I still think lighting a fire to burn the whole house would be too out of control. What if the garden catches fire? We are all boned. To big of a risk, Playing with fire is not the answer. I mean "PROBABLY?" I do not like the sounds of that. You are right, Zain probably would have though of this, and I can not see that ending good for us.

Those coat hangers that we have can probably be cut and bent into some rudimentary brass knuckles or something. I'd say that would probably be at least as useful as a butter knife.

If we can't find anything to do with with the pesticide spray, we can always use it as a makeshift flamethrower (like the deoderant idea) if we get any matches or lighters. We may find some sort of giant bug, though, in which case using the stuff would be painfully obvious.

Foyer - A rather large room with three exits, the front door leading out of the Mansion, which cannot be opened, and two doors leading out on either side. There are leather chairs and a couch, at most comfortably seating 8 people. There are also pictures of random landscape and knights up on the tall walls, as well as a few desks on either side with vases of fake flowers next to the doorways. The doors are large and wooden, locked with the key inside the lock, and bared from the inside. There are three cabinets directly ahead of the front door, behind the couch, seemingly made of iron and are locked. The flooring is tile, light brown in color. The smell is obvious of old leather and years of pipe tobacco use...

Pure Fear? I forgot who was it that sneezed, and tried to stifle it, and failed, provoking it.

Plus, the first slain hostile was killed with less, singular hostiles should be similarly dealt with, our groups contain more armed people than before, and with better arms too. Our only main concern in multiple hostiles. Additionally, killing the hostiles seems to be like "key collecting" now, which should serve us better now, before the mansion possibly gets "revved up" by the host to hasten our deaths.

Last thing we want is crucial supplies/needs being out of stock and in the end, turning on each other because we ran out of them, and the only way is to be the last man standing, with the last resources.

I have no idea what we are going to do if the kitchen runs out of food, personally :juggle2::juggle2:

I would like to apologize, the phase was supposed to end 12 hours ago, but as I have said, my weekends are always very unpredictable.

I will begin the write-up now. No PMs will be accepted.

Also, eating food is automatic, every turn 1 unit of food is used up. You die if you hit 0. Same with energy, for inactives.

The write-up will explain how someone passes out due to exhaustion and something fatal happens to them, but it's all the same to me.

Write-up 4

Before leaving Martin (CDF) put in the key they had obtained from the Hostile into one of the three iron cabinets. The key turned well but did not open the door and did not come out of the lock. Also the other mysterious key did not fit to open the lock box. After much frustration, the group gave up on the locks, they had missions to accomplish…

Six people watched as three groups of twelve total people left the Foyer.

Nicole (Beskar) chose to keep watch first as the other five slept. She analyzed them, Ronald (Split) and Jeffrey (AVSM) both seemed in perfectly good health, David (Scottishranger) the medic, Dean (Tratorix) who wasn’t looking too good, and Lorraine (CB) who was terribly wounded but still showed some life. “We’re doomed…” Nicole thought to herself.

A half hour went by through her shift, and no signs of life. But then, she heard light footsteps and odd breathing on the other end of the lock-and-barred door. A sound… *knock knock* “Will you let me in? I need some help…”

Nicole opened the door, and there stood Hector (White eyes) looking very pale with darkening eyes. His color was still there, an off white, instead of a paper white like the Hostiles. He stumbled into the foyer, “Does anyone have any food?” Nicole ran and got him some of hers “Are you alright?”

He took a bite, and spat it out. “Food tastes terrible now! Why me!?” His voice went shrill at the end, and he quickly snapped his gaze in her direction. “Who is hurt?” Nicole noticed that he hadn’t even looked at the two sleeping injuries. “Well, um, Dean and Lorraine. Why?”

Hector looked over at the two and began walking over to them, “I can smell their pain…”

The two slept side by side, and Hector went in between them, squatted down, and put a hand on each of their necks. “What are you doing? Leave them alone!” Nicole yelled. Ronald, Jeffrey, and David woke up, but Dean and Lorraine seemed frozen in time. Hector looked up at Nicole, “I can’t deny him…”

Hector squeezed hard and tore out both of their jugulars. Blood went everywhere as they both died instantly. Ronald and Jeffrey both kicked into action, with gardening shovels and butter knife in hand, the both attempted to thrash Hector but he seemed to escape back through the Foyer door into the hall using supernatural speed…

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Martin led four other men through the hallway and down the stairs toward the Storage Room…

“So let me get this straight, you want me to stand between the four of you and fire a staple gun at the monsters if we find them? A staple gun?” Lester (Chaotix) exclaimed surprised.

“Yeah, you have a problem with that?” Jose (Atheotes) answered him.

The other two, Eric (TB) and Brian (EF) kept quiet, concentrating on their mission. Being outside of the Foyer was always a high tension job.

The group made it to the stairwell and at the bottom they spotted a Hostile standing straight up facing into the door going into the downstairs hallway. It showed no life and just stood there aimlessly.

Martin made it clear to get into the Storage Room and get it scouted and searched at all cost, and so the group chose Lester and Brian to use long range fire on it as it seemed unaware.

Lester lined up his staple gun, and Brian readied himself to throw his shovel like a spear. The two counted to themselves in a whisper, “3, 2, 1… Go!” and the two began the assault. The Hostile remained unaware until it was hit hard in the back of the head with the shovel head and was pierced by an industrial staple in the neck. It yelled, loud and shrill, and ran fast into the Storage Room.

The five men quickly made their way down the stairwell and once they got there they ran into the Storage Room in formation, Jose at the front wielding a machete, Lester in the center with his staple gun, Martin on the left with his hammer, and Brian on the right with his shovel he picked back up. Eric was left to guard the door with a screwdriver.

Inside, amongst boxes and shelves that could hold pretty much anything they would ever need stood four Hostiles and the injured one that had been attacked. The little one was lying on the ground, bleeding out of the back of the head, and the others were approaching him, hungry. The group watched as four Hostiles devoured their injured comrade.

“There are too many, escape!” Martin yelled as Eric left first, followed by Brian, then Lester, then Martin. Jose, being in the back, was grabbed by the biggest Hostile by the leg and thrown across the room, yelling for his life before severing his spinal cord on the hard basement wall. He too was devoured.

Martin attempted to help him but the others held him back, “We can’t leave him!” He yelled. “He’s a goner! Save yourself!” Screamed Lester as the four remaining men fled back to the top of the stairs.

“We could hold them here!” Martin yelled battle ready. They waited, and were not being pursued. They could not take such overwhelming numbers, not without more help, so they returned to the Foyer…

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

John (Centurion1), Donna (ATPG), and Casey (Double A) chose to return to Bedroom B and see what had caused Laura’s death. John entered the door, and the two girls barred the door with large furniture as he scouted the room for secret doors and passageways. When he found none in the bedroom he and Casey moved on into the bathroom and found nothing. The door into Bedroom A remained locked.

“Then how did that thing get into this room with it all sealed up?” John asked, frustrated.

“Maybe he was there the entire time and the last team didn’t see him?” Donna suggested.

They went back and forth and concluded that the rooms were secure, and that Laura’s death was unexplainable…

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Steven (Greyblades) along with Gregory (DIY), Clarence (Beefy), and Daniel (Johnhughthom) chose to go into the Kitchen for more food supplies.

The group entered through the Kitchen, familiar with it but still wary of deadly foes. When they concluded that they were alone, they each grabbed as much food as they could (8 units) and exited the door into the hallway.

They each walked towards the Foyer, backs to the Billiards Room door. A Hostile opened the door, made aware of other life through its scent, and it stalked the last man in line, Daniel.

Right before Steven reached the door to the Foyer, Daniel’s scream was heard in the back. He dropped his food loot, a pool cue through his chest from the back. The Hostile, grabbed Daniel’s head by the hair and began dragging his body to the Billiards Room.

The other men escaped back into the Foyer, believing Daniel had died instantly. They brought with them pale faces, shakings hands, and 24 units of well deserved food.

Alright, so presumably, most of us had sent in orders that had running away playing a big part. The alternative, fighting, would probably have damaged them more, but ended with even more bodies lost. He is now officially a hostile, and should be treated as such.

I will divide up the weapons for our 12 man group later today, everyone with anything better than a fork will be coming with us. (or you will be giving up your weapon for someone else to use.

I will be leading the group. And, we are NOT leaving anyone behind.

we need bigger groups
people left alone could get transformed
in a group of hostiles, if we cause one to bleed, the others will devour one of their own. we could use this as distraction and strategy if we use a ranged weapon (staple gun in our case). they are busy eating and we have also reduced their numbers...win-win for us.

Well there are two options. One, we shoot them with staples. Lots and lots of staples. Two, we... use... our ex-friends as bait and then we decapitate them. A lot. And if we see Whitey, we should decapitate him a lot too.

But no matter what, I have a feeling that we should get rid of the dead people's boddies, lest they become like Whitey. Cremation and feed-ation remain open.

I say we treat these ghoul's victims as we would victims of zombie attacks. Quarantine and at the later stages execution and cremation.

Unless there is another fantasy monster that has an even more easily spread disease, we should treat it as worse case, which is right now in my mind zombification, or faux-zombification as it may be (ghoulification?).

We should watch out for any contact between bodily fluids between the infected, possibly infected, and the healthy.

I'm sure you guys know the rest of the details for zombies yes? If not I'd be glad to explain further.

Also, if we still have a mechanic or techie alive, we might just be able to rig the Staple Gun so it shoots nails instead of staples, as they have very similar mechanisms... although I'm under how much more useful a nail would be than a staple... definitely more aerodynamic, that's for sure.

Either way, we need the Staple Gun this round so we can't do anything with it yet.

Please remember to send me some skeleton orders, so I have a basis with which to create my strategy. Shooting the Hostiles before they transformed definitely worked well last phase.

Splitpersonality
11-10-2009, 03:12
A nail would likely do more damage.

more weight and more penetration power behind it.

The mass and velocity would be focused on a single point, which tapers to a flat surface, much like a wedge, which would penetrate better, than two points which immediately becomes the same flat surface, and could possibly (read:90% likely) split bone if used by an accurate marksman (read: We could :daisy: some :daisy: up, if we hit them ghouls right).

Unfortunately I'm NOT sure they can be rigged to do that exactly, as while they have similar mechanisms, they're not identical, and it would be very difficult.

We could work something out at the very least.

Good plan. I also recommend we "examine" every item we have found so far.

If you guys ever played Resident Evil: Code Veronica, often times you would find items that you'd have to inspect 360 degrees to find hidden latches or inscriptions, etc.

It doesn't cost us anything to be thorough

Chaotix
11-10-2009, 03:21
More penetration power definitely, but I'd say since these are regular nails vs. industrial-grade staples (presumably several inches long and thicker than normal staples), the staples win in terms of sheer mass.

A projectile that potentially goes directly through a target and out the other end, like a nail, would cause more bleeding, but do relatively less actual damage to tissue than something larger and less aerodynamic, like a staple- the staple would literally tear tissue while the nail would make a puncture hol and not much else.

Additionally, the fact that Zain is working with Hit Points and would probably never go so in-depth kind of means it may not be worth it at all to refit the gun with a limited ammo supply instead of a seemingly limitless supply of staples.

Also, I can't decide if this topic is leaning more towards incredibly interesting or incredibly disturbing.

EDIT: To ATPG- it may cost us time, we we are running short on.

Splitpersonality
11-10-2009, 03:28
But the staple would not penetrate deep enough to do what you suspect, mass or not it needs to be more focused in it's point of impact or it will not pierce. Both weapons have their pros and their cons, and I think that ammo count is one to look at.

Staple gun seems fine for now, if we find a nail gun, whoopee!, if not we can stick to holding them down and piercing their :daisy:ing eyeballs with nails for now.

Just looked it up.

The largest size of staple gun staple made is 12mm, in comparison home staples are 8mm long on average, and industrial non staple gun staples can go up to 24mm.

Nail gun nails can be up to 32, and in a special exception 50, mm long with at most a .71mm diameter. They come in gauges and can be larger in diameter, but I doubt we have custom made heavy duty nails...

EDIT

Nails used for fencing can be 3 and 1/3 INCHES in diameter, and can be up to 90 mm. If we had one of those I'd say we'd be pretty okay, but I doubt it.

Do we have ANY carpenters, or craftsmen? They would surely know things about the nail gun if they had it in their possession, and I'm sure Zain could enlighten them in a PM if need be :D

Most shotguns (Limb-tearing SPAS-12s withstanding) have comparitively poor penetration as well, but the force is enough to shatter bones and destroy organs. In any case, decapitation seems to work the best anyways, so a big knife or enough blunt force should suffice to kill them.

Splitpersonality
11-10-2009, 03:36
But it's a staple gun, not a shotgun. The force is different, I believe nails require more force as well becasue they use compressed air as opposed to a spring. We could always try to overload a compressor, not so with a spring.

EDIT
overclock a compressor, oh lord...

A Very Super Market
11-10-2009, 03:40
Yes, but the principle is the same. Firing a penetrating nail or impacting staple with the same gun is somewhat similar to firing a lead slug or buckshot.

I hope this counts for discussion... :D

Chaotix
11-10-2009, 03:42
split knows way too much about this crap for me to believe it's a normal, healthy interest... :laugh4:

Anyway, this whole conversation reminds me of the nail gun scene from Final Destination 3...

Splitpersonality
11-10-2009, 03:46
But a buckshot works on the principal that there are multiple points of impact, and with bullets it also has to do with the composition of the bullets, there ARE bullets designed to mimic a shotgun's spread upon impact, but they are so destructive to the internal organs they are banned from use in the Geneva conventions.

Two points of entry, on a flimsy bent metal, or one solid entry and exit, with possibility if encumbering someone, a nail to the hand which can stick that hand to a leg is a good option no?

Nailgun seems better in my opinion, but time will tell of course...

EDIT

Now if we could USE those nails in an explosive manner, using them as shrapnel... OR the staples for that matter, this is a sound idea for taking out a room of ghouls or infected people.

Problem is, where are we to get a propellant for such an explosive device? Perhaps the storage room will have some gasoline, maybe even gas powered tools, I'm giddy just thinking of the possibilities. Bring me back something nice will you? ;D

Has anyone read those books we got yet? I'm pretty sure these will contain clues.

I will spend all night reading those books if someone covers my back.

Alright everyone our battle plan Our war party will make its way to the storeroom, going down the stairs and attacking any hostiles we see with extreme prejudice. Stay very alert, I will be at the groups head, and search for any hiding hostiles ready to pounce out at us. If there are any our heavy weapons will attack. When we reach the storage room door we will form up in a shallow V formation. Left wing will consist of Beskar, Elite Ferret, AVSM, in that order going back. The Right wing will be Greyblades, Double A, and then Centurion, in that order going back. The V's Point will have me, and in the V's center will be Chaotix, along with Atpg, who will guard him during the fight and make sure he is not attacked in melee. We will throw open the door and enter the area, leaving the two men not mentioned to watch the hallway for hostiles. That is Split and Scottish, I would like to say I am doing both of you a favor, but if any hostiles try and sneak up behind us your orders are to hold them off by any means necessary. We will enter the room, me leading, and form the shallow V at our side of the room. Form up and asses situation. I am expecting at least 4 hostiles, if not more. Chaotix will open fire, and we will keep that up while they transform. AS soon as they start moving towards us the melee fighters will charge across the hall, and try and cut the hostiles into two smaller groups. Then keep a strong defensive formation as we try and batter the ghouls to death. If anyone gets taken down we should hit that ghouls as hard as possible to try and free them while the ghoul is distracted. Keep the ghouls back and form grabbing anyone. Use group tactics to gang up on each ghoul, and make sure Chaotix keeps firing on unengaged ghouls. Keep up the assault until every ghouls is dead. at which point dig the keys out of their heads and decapitate them. Then rummage through the store room.
get back in formation and walk deeper into the storage room. Keep our eyes out for any ghouls who may be hiding. Stay on guard, don't get caught unaware. Once we have cleared the whole place out we should then start looking for gear. Priorities go as follow: locked stuff (lockboxes), Weapons, Clues (notes, books ect), Keys, Food, survival gear, misc. grab all we can then call and then carefully make our way to the foyer with our gear, keeping an eye out for ghouls.

Any ghouls sneak up on us Scottish and split should engage, and if that fails then come into the storeroom and try and hold them off at the door.

This should be the basis for most peoples orders. send in orders darn it! :whip:

Right before Steven reached the door to the Foyer, Daniel’s scream was heard in the back. He dropped his food loot, a pool cue through his chest from the back. The Hostile, grabbed Daniel’s head by the hair and began dragging his body to the Billiards Room.

The other men escaped back into the Foyer, believing Daniel had died instantly. They brought with them pale faces, shakings hands, and 24 units of well deserved food.

you guys could have taken that billiards monster....... way to not be cowards.

It guerrilla styled attacked the rear, we were in the assumption that the area was clear already, only now have we confirmed a theory that the monsters come back, the rooms bordering the area were all cleared previously, and the kitchen was but two rooms away...

I also have a feeling that White_eyes may become some sort of leader amongst the Hostiles' ranks since he has been transformed...

Perhaps we have the... pre existing physical power of the ghouls, combined with the intelligence of its "host"?

I think we should separate into watches either two and two, or three guards and one sleeper.

The two-two option offers a quicker resting period in the event of a surprise attack, but the three-one option ensures high security, plus I'm off the assumption that the "day" is long enough to do this? On the other hand, the three-one option gives less sleep to the guards, because there are more guard duties.

I recall something about it being split up into "6 hour gametimes", perhaps we could arrange something like this:

Split + DiY -- First Watch (00.00 --> 03.00) [0 as in 0 hours from the phase start, not midnight]
Beefy + TB -- Second Watch (03.00 --> 06.00)

We'll decide on the weapons and other stuff via pm, and sent the final copy to CDf as well for archiving.

I know, again I'm not trying to cause a ruckus I'm just trying to figure out what happened.

I don't particuarly care that I'm dead, I'm a little peeved I lost my shovel but oh well.

And since I'm dead for reals, I'm a little peeved I didn't get a chance to kill anyone :P

sorry.

also Zain how come I did not end up injured? I basically said I was leading the charge and going to rush in hammer blazing :laugh4::laugh4: But that does not matter, 1 casualty is.... Unacceptable, but we will have to live with it. Let us all thank split for his sacrifice.

getting late, gonna sleep.

Well good!

and sorry for missing my orders, but then again it looks like I got more :daisy:'d than anyone else for missing it.

Pick up my shovel at least guys, and cut some ghouls with it.

Yeah if we can only win when there are 4 people left then I'm torching this frigging house and I'm going to watch all the hostiles roast from the garden. Muahahah!
Actually now that I think about it, Zain what are the garden boundaries made of and how high are they?

grr...no weapons in the store room

The five men quickly made their way down the stairwell and once they got there they ran into the Storage Room...
Inside, amongst boxes and shelves that could hold pretty much anything they would ever need stood four Hostiles and the injured one that had been attacked.
