The Mansion
The sound of rustling heightens your senses...

You open your eyes to an overcoming blur. The sound of curiosity and mild panic in the air.
Attempting to stand, balance off, you grab a hold of an antique chair arm to keep yourself stable. The smell of old leather and years of used pipe tobacco fills the air...

Your eyes come into focus and you see your surroundings, the furnishings and interior style of a post-modern mansion, this being the foyer. You also realize that you are in the company of dozens of others, seemingly confused as well. You don't remember getting here. You don't know where here is or why you are here. But you are here.

A man from the center of the room held a tape recorder over his head and commanded silence. The rustle of confusion died down. The man pressed play... "Use caution, follow the beholder."

Questions filled the air, and the man who held the tape recorder knew absolutely nothing. But the tape recorder did say to follow him... Use caution, what's that supposed to mean?

You step forward and with a voice to cover all the rest, and you ask the right question, "So what now?"

Rules:
No screenshots from PM's will be allowed. All communication must take place in this thread. All players must participate and be active. Any player who fails to show any kind of activity for longer than 48 hours will be killed in-game.

Within reason, anything can happen in this game. There are almost boundless possibilities.

Guidelines:
The one and only point of this game is to find out what is going on, and react. The designated leader is to organize and lead the people, but the people are not forced to follow. This is your game, you do as you will.

IF the leader is killed, a new leader must be voted in.

Players do have responsiblities however, such as keeping yourself alive by putting food in your system and resting enough to stay sane. The details, will be covered in your Role PM.

Currently, you are locked in the Foyer, but the locks and bars are on your side, and may leave if you choose to. The front door of the Mansion, being incredibly large, cannot be opened.

The game will be played in 6 hour segments, each lasting 24 hours in real life. They will always end at 15:00 GMT. Please allow up to 24 hours for optimal write-ups.

You may travel anywhere in the Mansion per turn, because in all reality, that is realistic.

Questions and Answers:
None, feel free to ask any questions. Questions who's answers may spoil in-game surprises will be respectfully left without an answer.

Descriptions

(The descriptions of rooms will be added as they are explored.)

Foyer - A rather large room with three exits, the front door leading out of the Mansion, which cannot be opened, and two doors leading out on either side. There are leather chairs and a couch, at most comfortably seating 8 people. There are also pictures of random landscape and knights up on the tall walls, as well as a few desks on either side with vases of fake flowers next to the doorways. The doors are large and wooden, locked with the key inside the lock, and bared from the inside. There are three cabinets directly ahead of the front door, behind the couch, seemingly made of iron and are locked. The flooring is tile, light brown in color. The smell is obvious of old leather and years of pipe tobacco use...

Omigod Omigod Omigod Omigod... Omigahd!!!

Like what are we doing here and junk. I totally have nails to file and clothes to buy. I don't wanna be in this dusty ole mansion. It would be like super cool if one of you guys could get me out of here. Totally! This place is creepy and I'm sure it's crawling with bugs. I wish I still had my cell phone. I totally don't even have a credit card. I can't live without my credit cards.

Okay are you guys gonna be lame or are we gonna get the heck out of here and junk. Let's start talking! Trust me you don't want me to be the only one talking because I totally could for like hours and hours and hours. Like this one time me and my little toy dog Pupperoni were at the mall, and Jen was all like "lets go shopping at the Gap" and Tara was all like "the Gap, that is so last decade. Let's go to hot topic." And Brenda was all "let's get some Thai food" and I was like "ewww gross." But then Pupperoni got away and we chased him down but then I saw this guy who was like totally hawt and I went to talk to him but he was with this girl and that was totally lame so we went to mall security and it turns out my dog was running through Sears and dropping off little Christmas gifts everywhere, he was such a naughty dog, but it was like Sears so who cares, right? Am I right?

Why are you looking at me like that? And I'm totally gonna talk like this all game too, so you just KNOW I'll be the first to die. It's always the blonde girl. But maybe I'll totally be rescued by that guy from the mall as soon as he ditches that bimbo. Girl power!

Oh wow.

I had a whole motivational and socialist speech worked up, with me trashing the furniture and denouncing them as capitalists, and a rousing crowd swallowing up the remnants to create giant statues of myself. We had a glorious revolution, that spread from the basement to the balcony, but I guess not. Guess someone had to be a drama queen. We could have done something here, we could have had rights, we could have hit a home run on the ball and chain of oppression. We could have done lots. And now we can't. Hope you're happy, jerk.

Alright everyone. We can get through this fine as long as we stay organized.

First of all, we need to be cautious. No huge groups outside the safe zone. I say we organize a small group to head to the kitchen to get food, And I have to say, I ma tempted to lead a group to head to the storage room. To see what is being stored there.

What does everyone think?

Now i understand how you feel sometimes the company is a bit mean to the workers but you have to see it from the owners point of view sometimes conditions have to be lowered otherwise the company would go bust and we would all be out of work and no one wants that. Which is why I am suggesting that the workers take a wage freeze in return for a non binding resolution that there will be no job cuts at the company. Now the otherthing that needs to be explored is the bedrooms I for one am tired and need my sleep.

Who will be leading the Foragers group?

Cultured Drizzt fan
10-30-2009, 20:24
Ok here is the plan people. Wew have one room safe right now, and that is the Foyer. I will lead a foraging group to the storage room to grab supplies we find there

Atpg will lead a group to the kitchen to get food and whatever else they find.
here are the objectives we need to keep in mind everyone.

1. Expand the safe area. If possible then lock all the doors and everything to a room that has been thoroughly scouted. grab a key and head back here. Some rooms will have locks and bars, so if we are lucky we can expand the safe area to include rooms with stuff we actually need. IE kitchen.

2. Secure a food supply and gather other items of interest.

I am doing my job as organizer people, if you don't want to listen to me fine. I am not sure I like where whiteyes is going though. :inquisitive:

I would love it if everyone willing to work as a team player came forward so we can organize groups.

Storage room: 3 people
1. CDF, Leader of foraging expedition
2. Centurion
3. Atheotes

Kitchen: 4 people
1. Askthepizzaguy, Leader
2. Captain Blackadder
3. Death is Yonder

Atpg your job is to if possible secure all exits and doors in the kicthen and create a second safe area around the food. If that is not possible grab anything of use and head back to the foyer. Look for keys, anything to lock the doors with. But scout the area before hand of course. That ok with you?

Me and my group will just take a peek in the storage room and see if anything useful is down there. Maybe swipe some stuff.

Thats is my plan. Other ideas or thoughts. And is anyone else willing to help get a third group going? I get most of you guys don't like the organization, but I am just trying to help out.

Ok then I think I should get anyone not on forage duty trying to break down the front door, it might not work but at least it'll keep people occupied and not going psycho killer on us on first turn.

DON'T TRY IT! Have you ever watched the Saw movies?

20 imaginary bucks says that turning the doorknob sets off a shotgun to blast anyone in front of the door.

As for me:

I'm not gonna be sitting around doing nothing. I'll go to the Kitchen with ATPG's team, we need food. And, by the way, who put the self-proclaimed dumb blonde in charge of that group? :clown:

I am going lone wolf here.....why are you trying to make us work together so much??:inquisitive: (anyone who watched Cube, or any SAW movies knows how that ends.....:skull:)

I just thought of something funny. In all of those survival horror movies you know one of the guys who almost always dies half way through? The guy who says Screw the group and goes off on his own expecting his genre savvyness to protect him :laugh4::laugh4:

Not to be mean or anything, but so far this is turning out exactly like a normal horror movie. :sweatdrop: which means I have a death sentence on me.

But moving on. Here is what I am thinking. If we can get control of the Kitchen and lock the area down we will have a food supply all set. All we need after that would be a bathroom and bedroom set. If we could get three extra people willing to work with the rest of us to lock down Bedroom and Bathroom A we would have a strong position that we can use to send out foraging groups. There has to be a way to win this game after all. We just need to search every room while staying near to safe zones.

I like to think of the foyer as a nation. We need smaller colonies all over the mansion if we want to stay strong. :laugh4:

Edit: hey chaotix, would you be willing to lead a group towards Bedroom and Bathroom one? and lock that place down? for the above reasons. Leadership position. come on?

Yes, but somehow I doubt the person who captured us would be stupid enough to put us in the room we can escape from. We can escape, but I am guessing we need to find out why we are here, and such by searching the house. that is my guess.

Plus, the first description basically says the door can't be opened. :sweatdrop: We need to at least get ourselves secure before we start looking for escape.

Ok then, If you can secure the Bedroom/Bathroom area this round You are more than open to head to the kitchen (or grab some of the food they bring back if the lock down fails) next round. Unless you only have one round of food, in which case then I am willing to give you one of my units of food so you can get the area secured.

But I would be much obliged if you could lead the Bedroom/Bathroom Area capture.

If so I am looking for 2-3 more people to help him out and watch his back.

As Double A said-

We have to take into account the fact that, because this game is not actually based on "rules" or statistics except for the basic food, energy, HP, just about anything that Zain wants to happen can happen. We are dealing with a possibly supernatural foe here; we can probably expect that Zain will do everything he considers within the "fairness" of the game to keep us from winning.

That means that doors may very well lock behind us inexplicably, isolating us into small groups. There will undoubtedly be a room that auto-kills anyone who enters it. In fact, Zain may be picking up these ideas as I state their possibilities in the thread... so should I continue or should I stop? :laugh4:

The Mansion: Phase 1

The Kitchen Expedition:

Donna E. Mosher (ATPG), Lorraine T. Hatcher (CB), Gregory C. Ronning (DIY), and Nicole W. Reed (Beskar) cautiously went to open the foyer door entering into the hallway. Not knowing what to expect Lorraine opted to enter the hallway first quietly and look underneath the rug for pressure switches and search the walls for any kind of decorations that could double as a weapon. But what they found surprised them…

The hallway was dark, dimly lit by an aged light bulb hanging from its cord in the center of the room, dust and spider webs covered the walls and floor. The floor squeaked with every little step, and they each heard their own ghostly noises coming from every corner of the mansion.

Lorraine from the front of the line, slowly crouching and sneaking to the kitchen door, turned back and said, “Let’s just get into the kitchen and see if we can find anything. This place creeps me out.”

She opened the door to darkness and Greg, the only man of the group, wielding a vase obtained from the foyer, entered first. Lorraine purposefully smelt for a gas leak before using any electricity, and when she smelt none, turned on the light. All four scrambled in and stayed up against the wall, and closed the door in fear of the light from the door drawing any unwanted attention.

The room was of a decent size, old wooden cabinets with dust and spider webs were prevalent. The refrigerator still worked, none other appliances seemed to work. The oven barely worked, but could heat food if needed.

The four searched the cabinets, refrigerator, and any other storage area for supplies. They stacked up their findings on an island in the center of the room and Donna spoke, “Like, there’s no way we can carry this all back! Is there anything else other than food?”

Greg said, “No, nothing. No utensils, no knifes, no pots or pans, nothing. Just food.”

Nicole, whom hadn’t said anything the entire quest said, “We need to leave…”

“I agree grab all you can and let’s go. Does the key have a lock?” Greg asked.

Lorraine, who had basically declared her dominance when she entered the hallway first, answered him, “No, let’s hide the food we found in some specific cabinets and mark them for the others to find.”

The four hid the food they could not carry comfortably, shut the light back off, and quickly made their way back to the foyer with their loot of 36 units of food.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The Storeroom Expedition:

Martin E. Clark (CDF), Jose A. Croy (Atheotes), Casey N. Carr (Double A), and John E. Navarro (Centurion1) entered the opposite hallway with similar caution. With the realization that the rest of the mansion seemed virtually abandoned, their situation seemed to go from bad to worse. They left John at the top of the stairwell, crept their way down the creaky stairs, and once they reached the other hallway they hung a left to the storeroom, leaving Jose to watch their backs in the hallway.

Martin and Casey, sneaking slowly and silently, opened the creaky door to the storeroom in hopes of finding anything useful. The door gets halfway open before the creaking gets louder and Martin stops opening the door. They don’t want to wake the dead.

The two slide inside and hold their breath as they flip on the light switch. There, in the back corner of the room about 20 feet in, seemed to be a man, small and frail, and as light toned as a piece of paper. He faced away from the strangers, and he didn’t seem to notice the light.

Martin and Casey stayed silent, stricken with fear at any new life found. Martin chooses to speak up, “Uh… hello? Sir?”

The man was hairless, and his skin seemed flakey. He turned to face Martin and Casey…

He sat in a squatting position, shirtless and wearing rags as pants, barefooted. His eyes, entirely black, his teeth long and thin, his features sharp. He didn’t move, just seemed to want to stare.

Martin and Casey, filled with terror at the sight, exited the room without hesitation, turning out the light and shutting the door.

They frantically ran up the stairs, dragging the questioning Jose along with them. They met John in the hallway upstairs…

Martin, out of breath, described the man to the other two, and Jose being a seemingly superstitious man exclaimed “That was a demon! My mama used to tell me stories! Let’s get out of here!”

They didn’t question him, they all wanted out of there anyway, immediately!

They ran into the foyer and locked the door behind them…

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The Bedroom Expedition:

Lester G. Gilliam (Chaotix), David B. Fischer (Scottishranger), Ronald V. Birge (Split), and Jeffrey K. Harvey (AVSM) opted to travel behind the storeroom guys and try to scout out the first bedroom they could find.

The first door in front of them as they entered the hallway was a bedroom, and so they entered it cautiously, staying aware of any threats that lurked in the shadows. They flipped the light switch on and saw a perfectly normal bedroom, no dust, no spider webs; it even had an air conditioner in the window with heating feature.

Lester hurried over to the window, which was covered by a curtain, and removed it. There, laid a scary scene. A brick wall filled the window space, the air conditioner cleverly instilled in the wall.

The four searched the room, inside drawers, inside closets, under the bed. Nothing was to be found, only a bed and empty furniture.

They also scouted the bathroom carefully. But to their disappointment, the dust and spider webs was prevalent in this room, and the water looked a little off but was good to drink. The shower, did not work. But to their surprise the toilet worked. Also the bathroom door entering the second bedroom had a key in the lock, turned to deny anyone entering the bathroom from the other side.

The four holed up in that room for the time being, with the door locked on the bedroom entering the hallway and the other door locked in the bathroom leading into the other bedroom, they had found a temporary sanctuary. Strangely the sheets smelled fresh…

Lester chose to stay up and keep watch while the other three slept…

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The Pool House Expedition:

Clarence M. Love (Beefy) and Brian S. Gonzalez (EF) chose to travel through the house behind the kitchen explorers to go outside, in hopes to stay alive.

They safely travel the hallway and cautiously enter the dining room. A table, must be thirty feet long, with at least forty seats, controlled the room. It was as run down and dirty as the rest of the rooms. So naturally the two did not want to be there. They hurried to the door to their far left around the table and opened the door into the ballroom. Not taking time to look around they hurried across the room and flew out of the door to the back yard. But the door didn’t open. It was locked! They both crashed hard into the door and sat back against it to regain their composure…

A thin man stood in the far left of them near the wall, facing them, staring. He had paper light skin, sharp features, and the same black eyes. This one wore a rag vest and shorts, but did nothing but stare.

Clarence whispers to Brian, “What the :daisy: is that??” Brian just shrugs, not looking away. The two begin walking towards exit into the dining room, when they realize another one was behind them, half the distance away from them than the other one. They quickened their pace, losing all caution, and ran back to the foyer. Locking themselves in, panic stricken…

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The Billiards Room Expedition:

Daniel T. Hanson (JHT) and Dean M. Hoff (Tratorix) chose to enjoy their time in the mansion by taking advantage of the billiards room off of the hallway. They followed behind the pool house pair and entered the billiards room.

The table sat there, dusty and old, but had the balls and pool cues all set up and ready to play. Daniel sets the bets, “Steaks are, our food. Deal?”

“Deal!” Dean proclaimed as he selected a pool cue and got ready to begin playing. Daniel breaks and knocks in the 7 ball, “Solids, dang it…”

“Haha, Looks like I’ll be eating good tonight!”

In the midst of their game, a man, small and frail, white and quite, crawls out from under the pool table. The men, caught off guard, yell in fear and grab their weapons.

The dead black eyes glare at them at one end of the table as they stay on the other end, frozen in their places, against their luck it stood between them and the door. Then, with some random act of courageousness, Dean steps forward, pool cue in hand, and attempts to scare away from creepy looking hairless man. The showing of a weapon, was a mistake…

It grew angry, showing no signs of backing down. Its face sharpened with anger and its eyes darkened into a black swirl. Its white flakey skin began to turn clear into a gel showing its insides and veins, the blood glowing a golden orange. It grew in size, from looking like a short human to bulking up and it standing a whole head taller than either of the men. The shadow of a key showed in its forehead. It leaped towards Dean, who frantically retreated back towards the other end of the room.

Daniel ran on the other side of the table, opposite of the giant, attempting to reach the door. Dean tried to follow but tripped and bounced right back up in complete anguish and panic driven fear. The giant swung and long hard arm at Dean who trailed behind Daniel and it knocked him hard against the wall (-4 hp) Daniel turned around, spear through his pool cue at the monster who took it hard in the chest. Dean and Daniel escaped the room, closing the door in hopes of it slowing the giant down, and ran towards the door into the foyer, which had already been locked.

The two beat on it frantically until it was opened by Martin. They jumped in, breathing hard. Dean suffered from a couple of broken ribs and a terribly bruised up left side.

This brings an end to the first Order Phase, please discuss and send me order PM’s for the 2nd Order Phase, which will end on Tuesday at 1500 GMT.

He told us all, "screw you guys I'm going home". He said, I don't care if you all die as long as it's not me. He said I'm not going to help, so bug off! Well It did not go TO Bad. Could be worse. The Storeroom was a risk that did not pay off, but the bedroom group succeeded. And the kitchen group managed to haul in 36 units.

But.... uhhh. Here is a idea, lets NOT go play pool in the middle of a crisis.

So here is the plan for this round, we need to divide the food we hauled in.

so everyone should post food and energy levels: 2 and 2 for me  (like what Double A said.)

Interesting part highlighted! I think that it is possible that they are all the same thing... traveling between the scenes.

Also, looks like this is probably the thing we need to kill so that we can escape or something, so its quite likely that its gonna be tough to take down, so we probably should try to avoid conflict or something :sweatdrop:

Maybe fire would work against it :idea2:

11-02-2009, 20:28
Two and two. Our Bedroom group should be able to return to the foyer, bring the Bedroom key with us and lock the Foyer door again with the key we brought with us, then pick up some food.

I think we should leave the Foyer/Hall B Key in the door, and the Hall B/Bedroom B Key on a piece of furniture in the Foyer: this way we keep it locked up but have easy access whenever we need it.

If my group wants to stick with me, we will be free to do anything that might need to be done. That monster in particular needs killing... we could use that key.

That is how we are going to divvy up the food. Being honest I plan on giving more to those who help out, and considering we now may have to find a med pack for one of the pool players they both only get 1 unit. If whiteyes is a lone wolf he can hunt for himself. only seems fair. Other than that everyone is getting two units. (I was thinking of docking Beefy and elite ferret, but I believe they are going to start helping out)

as for Expeditions I believe Double A has raised a good point. My group will head to the Library and have a look around. Unless any of you guys have a issue with that.

1. CDF, Leader of Library expedition

3. Atheotes

I feel like we should scrounge around for some med packs, especially since one of us took a nasty hit. If the group under Chaotix could investigate the master bathroom for medical supplies or anything like that, that would be great. ( its where I put my medicine....)

Me and Chaotix's group can work out a more sophisticated plan, as we both are going to the second floor  set up a good watch area.

Now, Here is what I would like to see other than that. Atpg, I want your group to do garrison duty this phase.

The Break down:
Foyer Garrison:
1. ATPG
2. Scottish ranger (due to being medic, Sorry DIY)

You two watch the doors and be ready to open up for one of us, as well as keep everything locked up. If one of you wants to get some sleep that is fine

The Bedroom/Bathroom Garrison:
1. Beskar
2. Captain Blackadder

You two will pick up the bathroom key from Chaotix and head over there. man the doors and such. If one of you wants to catch some Z's then that is fine as well.

Now, Here is what I would like to see other than that. Elite ferret said he was willing to work with us, and I would be very glad if Beefy, John, and perhaps Greyblades worked together to investigate the Conservatory.Just take a look and see if you find anything useful or interesting there. However be careful.

Conservatory Expedition:
1. Elite Ferret, Leader of Expedition (if he wants to be)
2. Beefy
3. john
4. Greyblades

As for Tratorix, you have been injured, So I won't put you down for anything unless you volunteer.

What does everyone think? Next round we are going to running low on energy, so we might as well go all out this round. Anyone who sleeps this round will be watching the doors while the rest of us sleep next round.

I think some of us should start a sleep cycle, in two turns everyone will run out of energy and have to sleep or else die and we will need to defend ourselves should someone attack. I say we pick about lets say 3-5 people to sleep this or next turn and when the turn comes around when everyone else has to sleep we will have some people to keep those ghoul things from killing us in while we're helpless.

Ok, everyone here has played a Zelda game right?

This house, it's like a dungeon. And it's probably the one with Ganondorf at the end. So the demon guy is Ganondorf, and if you screw with him without the right equipment you'll be really sorry (or dead). So, what I'm thinking is, we need to go to the library to get the necessary tools to take him out. But the Library won't be easy, it's basically the mini-boss in the dungeon, but when you will you will be rewarded greatly. All the small rooms contain the silver keys to the library, and we should look around in more of them to find the silver key to the library so we don't get boned.

There are definitely more than one of those things. And I think more than two. Chances are, every one mentioned was a separate entity... in other words, we have to fight 10 Ganondorfs instead of one :sweatdrop:

Not sure about that. The Zelda thing that is. As for there being more than one of these then yeah, that is probably true. I am betting there are quite a few.

I just thought pool might be a good idea but apparently not.
IIRC the creepy old man have yet to show us hostility. So if we take hostile action against them, we might be in trouble.

Perhaps try and socialize with them and see if that work?

Worse case scenario, we could have a horde of these guys coming at the foyer like zombies.

As well as talking about plans, we should talk about what the heck its going on here.

Actually I think the lack of hostility may have more to do with the fact it was the first round rather than anything else. So we have semi passive creepy old man who does not respond to question and wears black.

We have an mysterious figure who brought us all here to the mansion which we can't get out of.

How does these two link? And what do they want with us?

Okay, guys with pool cues, get double your numbers (I think that's six), and break your pool cues in half, giving each person a sharp melee object.

Go BACK into the billiards room and kill the figure with the key in his head, we probably need that if it was pointed out so readily.

and I'm sure 6 people with pointy sticks could at least do some damage to him...

Very true, BUT...

Sleeping will only be effective if it's the vast majority of the time spent (5 or more hours) so if someone sends in an order saying they will explore a,b,c,d,e, and f and then sleep in the bedroom, I'm going to pretty much ignore the sleep order because most of their time was spent exploring. That makes sense. All of us should be able to do without sleep for another round, though. I will take the risk, the weapons are more worth it- it's better to lose some sleep than to take an HP hit because we weren't prepared to fight.
