Ironside: A Swedish dude. Is a master of useless knowledge, particularly Darwinism. His brain has been corrupted by this peer pressure, and he has now taken Evolutionist step no. 2: Throwing links at Creationists in the hope that they will get bored and go home. Apart from this (and the fact that hes Swedish, which inevitably means there is a great degree of eccentricity about him), he is a cool relaxed guy. He clearly has at least some sense of humour, though it resembles a solar eclipse: we rarely see it, but when we do, its always special. Goes base jumping at the weekends.
So, apologies if I get anything wrong in this:
Quid: Helvetican teacher who frequents the Arena and Backroom.
Thank you! Though, it does need a slight adjustment...it's Helvetian...:book:
This is better:
Quid: Slang for the British pound sterling currency.
Very observant. Was, however, not intended.
Quid: A long time poster, although you might not get that impression if you compare postcount to join date, who mostly posts in the Backroom or in the Frontroom. Is known to sometimes passionately defend Swiss issues when they pop up in the front and backroom, why do I say this ? Well let me just say I remember when Switzerland got their place in the WC, and Turkey didn't..
Overall, Quid is a solid contributor to the fora, and being one of the few active Swiss posters has to count for something!
Again, well spotted! Post count somehow has never really meant anything to me (evidently). I usually lack the time to forward anything uselful and just limit myself to comments every now and then. I still visit here almost every day. Am actually quite impressed with myself.
Thank you, Dutch guy, for the little summary. I shall now support Holland also.

Kralizec He is from the Netherlands. And is very knowledgable about the history of many time periods. He seems to enjoy helping newbies out with TW sometimes. He is a mysterious fellow whom I can't find his political leaning wether they be left or right... He seems to be a pretty prominet(sp?) member of the monastery.

Thank you :2thumbsup:
I guess I'm pretty knowledgable about ancient history (not so much when it comes to other periods), and even then not as much as Watchman, Rosacrux etc, but I do very much enjoy monastery discussions.
As for political leanings, I think I fit the bill "moderate" quite well.
Ronin - Leader of the Portugese diplomatic mission to Howard Dean and the US Democratic party, he coincidentally hates Bush and most Republicans. Likes long walks on government-subsidized beaches, pina coladas financed by draconian taxes on business, and getting caught in rain.

The Spartan: the last living Spartan in the world who slain Spartacus not Crassus. During a battle against the Athenians the peltasts threw 50 javelins at his bronze sheild it breaks, lights flash on him and he is teleported to a place of motors, flying machines, and video games. When he was telported he took form of a fillipino in America. His fathers : Alexander The Great and Leonidas of Sparta told him at the Ruins of Sparta he could regain his old form by making at least 250 post in a forum called The Org and choosing The Spartan avatar, which he is dangerously close to. When he does he will gain his true form with his armor, hoplon, xystas, and sword. He will destroy the world. and only the people in heaven or the ORG Admins can stop him the Admins are trying to stop him and can by giving him warnings.

The Fart:
Nitrogen is the primary gas released. Methane and hydrogen, lesser components, are flammable, and so flatulence is susceptible to catching fire. Not all humans produce flatus that contains methane. For example, in one study of the feces of nine adults, only five of the samples contained bacteria capable of producing methane[5]. Similar results are found in samples of gas obtained from within the rectum. The gas released during a flatus event frequently has a foul odor which mainly results from low molecular weight fatty acids such as butyric acid (rancid butter smell) and reduced sulfur compounds such as hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg smell) and carbonyl sulfide that are the result of protein breakdown. The incidence of odoriferous compounds in flatus increases from herbivores, such as cattle, to omnivores to carnivorous species, such as cats. Flatulence odor can also occur when there is a number of bacteria and/or feces in the anus while being expelled. A small amount of solid or liquid fecal matter in fine particulate aerosol form may also be expelled, and included, along with flatulence.
This shows that DA was trying to tell us that his posts are one of the rarer breed, such as the breed of fart that contains methane. ie, his posts are flammable (can cause flame wars) and this occurs quite often: 100 times a week.

Duke John: Legendary modder of Dutch descent. Famous for his excellent modeling in both MTW as in RTW, he has been known to do things with skins and models thought impossible before he proved the general public wrong -- again. Oh, he likes Hertog Jan beer, too.
Ludens: Widely acclaimed patron of the Mead Hall, this brave man took it upon himself to build up the complete library documenting every single story that has ever graced that forum. While he wasn't the first guy to propose a Mead Hall library (I believe that was Monk), he took that excellent idea and perfected it. Occasionally wanders bewilderedly into the Frontroom or elsewhere, making delightful posts on myriad subjects (last one I remember was on picking up girls).
Orda Khan: Safely said, the one-man vanguard of the Mongol cause. Want to know something about Mongol culture, state, society and, yes, army? This is the man to ask. Always ready for a good historical debate, his specialty is nomadic history, specifically archery and the Mongol Empire. Has a family member around (Jochi Khan), but that one hasn't visited in a long while.

It was due to a general staff-shuffle. ShadesWolf moved to the Entrance Hall and Monk (my co-AM) was promoted to moderator and took over Spartan and Monastery forums. I later swapped the Throne Room for the Ludus Magna with econ21.
Thank you for the biography. BTW, the Library was really Monk's creation. I updated and expanded it later, but the groundwork was his. Which reminds me, I completely failed to add Monk's main feat-of-arms to his biography. Shame on me :shame: .

I agree. Those two have to be added. I don't think there is a rule against adding ex MP-veterans either. Also, perhaps someone should add a description of Voigtkampf. I've tried to make one myself, but I don't think the result did him justice.

erm...to be fair, iirc soly started the babe thread. Sasaki started _a_ babe thread, precisely when and because soly had taken a leave from the org.
Just a nitpick for the sake of accuracy.
iirc The Black Ship started the original "babbiest babe ever is" thread. Or possibly Ronin...I can't really remember.

Pannonian is British. He thinks of himself as a leftwinger, but finds more and more in common with conservatives (proper conservatives) as time goes on. He is interested in history, and interested in Britain. The more he learns about British history the more cynical he becomes about British ideals, though at the same time the more impressed he becomes with British deviousness and the fact that any ideals survived at all. Best described as a pragmatist to the point of amorality.

To be placed on the list:
(1) Someone other than yourself must write a description and post it here.
(2) I reserve the right to add, modify, edit, etc your description for continuity, clarification, consistency, or concisity.
(3) Once you are added, if you want to offer some real info about yourself (where you live, a photo, hobbies, a job, other RL stuff), I'll probably include it.
The goal of this isn't to place a bunch of fabricated descriptions (although some elboration is fun). I just wanted to compile a list of regular caricatures here and what we know of their real life outside the Org.

A senior member who joined many years ago, no relation to Redleg, though I am not sure if he is related to Red Harvest. His short and to the point posts are always eesy to read. I thought he was a Toffee, Red referring to his politics rather than his football team.
therefore the mortal enemy of Chelsea F.C.er's like myself. *spits on the ground in disgust*
If he really is a Red, he would reserve his dislike for Man U and Everton, not Chelsea.
IrishArmenian
08-27-2006, 23:25
Good point, but really has Everton been a problem for Liverpool lately? The Liverpool and Chelsea seems quite recent, but their matches seem just as heeted as rivalries. I meant that he was a Liverpool F.C. Fan because he lives in Liverpool. British politics is foren to me.

Hmmmm, it proves my point - that once one posts their opinion they should simply check back and then walk away - unless challanged by some dimwit that doesn't comprehend what they initially said.
I will bit on this one, since I managed to ignore it for so long - and notice that it has degenerated into a kiddy spamorama. Note: the number of my posts versus yours - cause = mine are long "rants", yours are one sentance verbages of meaningless and pointless perceptions. Where as my "RANTS" can be documented (if I gave a flying pig).
Who am I? Former ArmyVet (67-70), purple heart for ignorance, that spent 3 weeks in 'nam, and 13 months Korea for being stupid. However, by going to Korea I sorta lucked out - I went from Lineman (36C10) to 11BangBang to 73C10 (memory ain't what it use to be) - Finance Corp. Parents (and grandparents accordingly) were split about the political partys - paternal=Dems, maternal=GOP (though they both lied about voting straight ticket, I know - cause I went into the booths with them at age 7 - Ike).
As a Veteran, I never expected anything but what was promised by my Government - of course with Carter the rights and promises of the nation I once defended began to melt away (note: under Reagan it became a landslide against vets, and has continued to be an attempt to screw over the vet ever since .... ask the Desert Storm guys if you don't believe me).
My proudest moment (not really) was convincing my GOP Momma to vote for McGovern in 72' - she was greatful 'til the day she died that she voted for an honest man over a crook. Believe me, she really like Pat (Nixon, even after she heard Pat was a drunk .... then again, who wouldn't be after "x" years with a psychopath?).
After the Army I had to find a job, and did ... for minimum wage ($2.50 and hour, or = $9.50 today, though believe me without over time I couldn't have made it). An ex-Marine F-4 pilot (Clay, he once said " had I lost been shot down one more time I woulda been an NVA Ace" = he got shot out of his seat 4 times giving ground fire support for the grunts. He had alot of balls. I liked him.), the rest of the crew were also vets: one navy - Ron2 - said we had an aluminum hull navy that could be sunk with BB-guns, one Marine - Numbnuts (goodguy, actually got fined for losing his M-14 in the S. China Sea when the Marines first landed in 'nam when his APC (duck) sank - as he said, "It was the gun or me". Then there was a former A.F. Sergeant that specialized in structural-stress-mechanics, got sent all over the globe, and got run off the road in the Phillipines ...... broke his leg (took nearly 2 years of physical therapy to recover - he gave all the credit to Budweiser. Claimed a 6 pack aday would cure anything. Might be right ... it hasn't been tested, yet.). Then there was Ron1, Army Huey shotgunner that got shot down resupplying QueSon (keson - sp), got hit in the head and medevac'd (eventually) - had mararia, and became addicted to morphine. Ron1, was and is a suvivor - personally, he was and is my hero. They all are. As are the men I served with: Tommy (real first name was Karl), Kuddles, Gorilla, Guerilla, BS, Jabo, Winks, GaPo, Lynch, Brinx (as in the robbery), 900, etc.
The guys I first worked with started at 7:00AM (I have always been habitually 10 minutes late - so always stayed the extra 15 to make up) - worked 'til 9:00PM, then closed down a beer-poolhall bar and started all over again (the Viking - it no longer exists in the SFV). Generally, 6 - 7 days a week. For minimum wage, or a few pennies more, but man did we have the OT (up to 90 hours - you figure it out).
I moved from the "Right" to the "Left" in baby steps. After reading "Mao Tse Tung on Guerilla Warfare" - I realized we (the US military) couldn't win in Vietnam. It was the most depressing day of my life (up to then), realizing that all my friends that had died or lost limbs or were vegetables - that their lives had been spent for nothing (except political hype ... much like today, I fear). The release of "the Pentagon Papers" confirmed it, the WhiteWater fiascal simply confirmed (for me) that there is no such thing as a government that can be trusted - regardless of what the political party calls themselves ("THE GOOD OLD BOYS" - ought to be of some concern - todays administration).
Rant master that I am accused of being (though few actually challenge my views without my retorting to their ignorance - j/k), I end with this: Never in the anals of USA history have so many been willing to give up so much for nothing but the promise of safety - security. What a joke, promising something that cannot be kept. BY ANYONE!
Screw safety .... Give me freedom, every time.
Also, I found out that getting a degree at a University isn't easy, but anyone with half the determination I had can do it. "No sweat 'e 'da". Getting a MA scholarship to Harvard, might be a bit harder. But, in todays atmosphere when the perception of anything can be bought - what the H. Heck, they claim Dubya got accepted to the top Business school in America - with a "C-" average. So, anything is possible. God bless America, and the horse she rode in on.
In America; Money talks and BS walks. It is as it has always been. It may unfortunately always be so - because Americans really are stupid. Well, not stupid as much as gullible.
