The Royal Family - a soap opera
Jeremy Clarkson had a brilliant idea in his publication "The Royals, a soap made in heaven." He presumes, that the life of the Royal Family is already a soap opera recorded by paparazzis, and a meaningful role should be given to the family for the expenses they impose on taxpayers.
"We turn the whole damn shooting match into a reality soap opera, stripped across the week's TV schedules with late-night updates and a big publicity machine to feed the morning papers.
At present the cost of the royal family to each taxpayer is 60p. That looks like bad value when all the key players ever do is open stuff and talk to vegetables. But 60p a year for a five-times-a-week soap opera. That would be the best value television in the world."
What do you think?

Great Idea.
The Royals = employees/actors = brilliant. :laugh4:
Re: The Royal Family - a soap opera
I bet Harry's gutted that Nick Griffin isn't coming to tea anymore. They could've compared uniforms.
Re: The Royal Family - a soap opera
It will be an upper-class version of "The Royle Family" starring 14 different corkies.
Re: The Royal Family - a soap opera
For once, a poll that truly needs no Gah option. Greatest idea evar!
Re: The Royal Family - a soap opera
Gotcha! Dirty Harry ate my hamster!
Re: The Royal Family - a soap opera

60 pence, not 60 pounds.
Re: The Royal Family - a soap opera
I think some people would pay even 60 pounds a year for a show like that.
Re: The Royal Family - a soap opera
Sounds like an interesting idea, then why not make a soap opera of Jeremy Clarkson's life, after all, he pockets 4 pence a year from each taxpayer for making a show where he can insult lorry drivers, foreigners, homosexuals and environmentalists (then again, so does Prince Philip), and he is only one person, and does not fulfill any triffling tasks, such as oh, I don't know, constitutional duties expected of the Head of State.
Not that I mind Jeremy Clarkson for insulting foreigners, homosexuals, environmentalists and lorry drivers, people like him are sometimes needed, after all, it would be a dreadfully dreary place if everyone went about po-faced wingeing about people's feelings.

You forgot horse owners, motorcyclists, Americans, archeologists, small guys, Simon Cowell and people who spend their holiday in Ibiza. BTW, good riposte. :2thumbsup:

Spoken like a true royalist.
Personally I think Jeremy Clarkson earned his keep for all eternity with that one program where they tried their utmost to kill a Toyota pick-up truck - and failed.
Wait.
Here it is: Toyota Triumphant

Aye, though the one where they upset some American hicks and were chased out of town by the Klan in pickup trucks with shotguns was even better.
Re: The Royal Family - a soap opera
Hell yeah, I wonder what the Nazi dress up party episode will be like? Wait, they would never be that stupid would they? Err, woops...

Best top gear moment ever!
That was brilliant!
Although...

That one has potential.. don't suppose you have a link handy ?
I don't think the Harry dress up was that bad, a stupid idea yes, was he out trying to cause shock and offence, no. It was a silly mistake to think that nazi uniforms would be acceptable as dress up... give it a few decades and it probably will be an acceptable fancy dress costume...
