Re: Historical Articles of the Monastery.
I never realized people posted full historical articles here. I have one that I would be willing to share, but it's pretty long (undergraduate thesis, 133 pages in bound print form, probably half that with more compact formatting) and I don't want to bother unless people are actually interested in the thing.
The title is Blood, Sweat, and Fears: British Support for Nazi Germany, 1933-1939. It is essentially a survey of the various reasons that Brits supported or tolerated National Socialist policies prior to the outbreak of the war. Almost all of the research is original, with about 90% coming from the Letters to the Editor from the daily editions of the Times of London and the remainder from diaries and letters from the IWM archives. I essentially read every single issue of the paper from Jan 1, 1933 to Dec 31, 1939, recorded every single letter about Germany and worked them into a coherent body that shows why this support existed and how the different beliefs waxed and waned during the uncertain years before the war. The purpose was not to explain it myself, but to let voices from the past express their own reasoning, with a little organizational work to help them along. In my opinion, the format largely worked because of the type of people who wrote into the Times during that period. Almost all were extremely well educated and highly literate, with some of the most poignant statements coming from people such as A. A. Milne and Evelyn Waugh.
I found the subject incredibly fascinating and I would be happy to share it if anyone else is interested. To be fair, it is not a perfect work. I wrote it 8 years ago and my writing style (and patience for proofreading) has improved significantly since then. At some point I intend to improve it and work it into a full-fledged manuscript, but for now it remains a university thesis work.
Re: Historical Articles of the Monastery.
Good show. The only thing I could contribute that is worthwhile is a response to a question about medieval warfare into which I put some effort. It's this.
Re: Historical Articles of the Monastery.
I'm interested in reading it, TinCow. Maybe if a couple others piped in you'd be persuaded?
Re: Historical Articles of the Monastery.

I thought it was a pretty good article anyway.
