2. The (?) two eyes of a single crew member glinted.
Because of the plural possessive " s' ", interpretation #1 should be preferred. Or do you think the final scum has more than two eyes, that "two" should be specifically used instead of both?
I would accept your interpretation if the line were something like, "A red glint flashed in [both of] a certain crewmember's eyes."

Re: Choose Your Own Adventure Mafia [IN-PLAY]
NIGHT 8
When Csargo woke up, he found himself in the ship’s nearly-abandoned Med Bay for some reason. He was in one of the hospital beds, dressed only in patient clothing, and there was an IV in each of his arms.
As he groggily assessed his situation, still half-asleep, he noticed that the bags attached to the IVs were definitely not blood-colored. In fact, he didn’t feel injured. Why was he in the Med Bay at all? This was starting to freak him out. He moved to remove the IVs from his arms.
“I WOULDN’T DO THAT IF I WERE YOU.”
Csargo couldn’t tell where the voice was coming from, but it didn’t sound friendly. A different voice boomed in alongside it.
“You see, those needles are attached to a tripwire that leads directly to a set-up of approximately 500 diet cola bottles hidden under your bed, in the walls and above the ceiling tiles. Suspended above each cola bottle is a pack of Mentos. If you so much as move those needles, the tripwire will trigger the Mentos to fall directly into the cola below, and you will be engulfed in an explosion of fizz and sugar! Mwehehehe!”
“I-I don’t understand! Why? What’s so important about these IVs anyway?”
“Oh, well those are hooked up directly to two bags of Pixi Stix dust. Right now they are flooding your veins with pure sugar. In about 2 minutes your blood sugar will be high enough to force you into diabetic shock! Mweheheheh!”
“What? Just what is going on here? So if I stay put and do nothing, I die, while if I try to escape, I die? Why even give me a choice?”
“IT MAKES IT MORE FUN.”
---
Meanwhile, in the Command Center, the assault on Coldenskgrad was running quite smoothly. The ship had engaged its combat AI (which was incidentally also the Bingotron 9000) and was firing plasma cannons, dropping anti-matter bombs, and generally just wreaking all kinds of havoc. The shields protected the ship from any sort of retaliating the surprised Coldenskian forces could manage. Foreman Chaotix looked on with pleasure behind his gas mask.
“For the Republic! Soon, we will bring freedom to all these Coldenski dogs, whether they like it or not!”
A couple of the team members present wondered if there would be any Coldenskians left to bring freedom to. Who had even voted for that “Smash” idea anyway? Why were they doing this again?
The Foreman laughed a short, terse laugh and the bombardment continued.
---
Csargo couldn’t take it anymore. He was sweating and breathing heavily and his heart was starting to beat faster and faster, and he was pretty sure it wasn’t just because he was nervous. It was also becoming, very, very difficult for him to sit still, likely as a result of the forced sugar high. Then it started to hurt.
“How’s it going there, old chap? I hope you’re not going to give up yet, after all we have enough Pixi dust in those bags to last an hour! Mwehehehe!”
Csargo screamed in mixed pain, frustration, and rage. In that moment he jumped out of the bed, tore the needles out of his arms, and started running. The tripwire was triggered, and the Mentos dropped.
---
A huge explosion shook the entire left side of the ship. The explosion then reverberated against the shield keeping in it, bouncing back and hitting the side of the ship again. What was left in place of about 30% of the ship was a huge smoking hole.
“Left engines down! We’ve taken too much damage to the hull! We’re going down!”
CRRRRRRAAAAAAASHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
---
Luckily the Bingotron 9000 engaged auto-seat belts so the team was safe. Well, most of them.
After they escaped the wreckage, they looked around them.
“This is… the Hexagon! The military headquarters of the Coldensk Union – or what’s left of it, anyway. And I’ll bet the Space Whale artifact is here as well. The resistance has been crushed; now we just need to decide what to do with it.”

Now, DC is either inactive scum or inactive town, regardless should not be lynched today. Therefore this leaves Lazy, Elite and Bsmith. I'm going to recap a few things from memory from each of them.
Elite Ferret and BSmith have been very similar in their postings. Both have stayed under the radar, both have made relatively safe votes, and neither have really done much analysis or cases or discussion in the thread besides Bsmith with Jolt. However, Lazy has focused only on Riedquat which is a tactic I remember from my small game I hosted when he was mafia with atheotes. He seems to be repeating it here on a scummy target (riedquat) that no-one will question. Considering his following votes, he is a top contender to be mafia.
When it comes to deciding between BSmith and Elite Ferret, I take note of both past performances as scum. Elite was more joking, post more, questioned more. This is not the behaviour he is displaying right now. Whereas Bsmith is displaying his slow posting, lack of information, under the radar style.
From seeing both play, it seems to me that Bsmith and Lazy are scum. And are searching to get a quick lynch on me, the obvious target.

Re: Choose Your Own Adventure Mafia [IN-PLAY]
I will freely admit that my posting history this game has been anything but stellar. I have essentially lurked most of the game, and have had little input into the discussion. Now that it is likely the last day I am all of a sudden back in the game and trying to get something done. To top all of this off, I tend to lurk more when I am scum than when I have nothing to lose. I am also still alive after all of these rounds, yet another nail in the coffin.
It certainly doesn’t look good.
I could blame this on a lot of things: I had a death in the family earlier this month, there was a holiday weekend (I am never that active on the weekends anyway due to family commitments), many of the phases just didn’t work out from a timing perspective (ending on weekends, etc.). But the truth is that I just never got into this game. To be honest I haven’t really put that much time or effort into any of the games I have played this past month or so.
I am not proud of this performance. Part of me kept hoping I’d get killed off so I wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore. That has obviously not happened. So here we are. Likely lynch or lose. Likely two scummers left. Good news is that I have a 50% chance of voting for a scum, even if it is random. The flip of a coin.
So here is what I think about the rest of you:
dcmort93: Nothing at all. Due to his complete lack of posting, I have nothing.
Elite Ferret: No opinion one way or another. Part of this is because of my lack of detailed attention to this game. Another part is that I have not played that many games with him, and don’t have a familiar pattern of his play style developed yet. I’ll try to go back and re-read things, but right now I don’t have a read at all. I welcome other’s analysis here.
Visorslash: He has been much more quiet this game than in the past. He has not been doing much analysis, or really working to lead the discussion. Granted lately he has been somewhat less active overall in other games we are in, so this could be a null-tell.[/b]
Lazy: I believe he has been consistently wrong in every case he has made this game. He has also been pretty upfront about making sure that we all know this. He has either been really unlucky, or hasn’t actually been “wrong” at all and is conscious about the perception of never being right being a scum tell. Constantly talking about always being wrong could be an attempt to defray this line of thinking.
Overall I am leaning more towards unvote; vote: Lazy being one of the scummers, but Visor is still not out of the woods in my opinion.

"Convince me you're not scum" = I want to kill you, but if you vote incorrectly and spend a lot of effort to defend yourself, I'll vote along with you.
Either way, I intend to use you to secure my own win.

Re: Choose Your Own Adventure Mafia [IN-PLAY]
Supposing Monty's interpretation is correct about the two red eye guys- That means the best that town can do is force a tie.
A tie still wouldn't win the game for the town, even if it were a double lynch. Then it would be 1 v 2 going into a murder round. 1 v 1 for the morning. And a no-lynch wouldn't win the game for the town either.
As such, either the game is already over for the town or you have two shots at a serial killer. I don't believe it is Visorslash. If it's dcmort you can get him tomorrow, and if it's not dcmort then you couldn't lynch the SK anyway tomorrow, so you might just as well lynch dcmort under the "No lurker victories" clause of the Pizzaguy playing manual.
Either way the red eye SK deserves to win, and if it were a mafia team of two then they've basically already won if dcmort is town.

Re: Choose Your Own Adventure Mafia [IN-PLAY]
Okay, I've thought about it.
Dcmort is inactive scum or inactive townie.
We must therefore assume only 4 votes this round.
Therefore, the only possible way town can win is if there is:
a) A lynch, and
b) No tie vote
Therefore, if someone is placing a second vote on any given candidate, they are creating the eventual 2 versus 2 tie, and are therefore probable scum.
Right now, the vote is tied 1 all.
If you break the second vote rule, I declare you scum, and you die. And if you're town, you are the reason we lose.
Instead of the suspects convincing each other, you convince the jury.
The jury is comprised of dead known townies.
No one places a second vote on anyone unless we say so.
How's that for fair?

This is hard. We're all becoming victims of our relative inactivity.

Judging by what happened in the Skyrim game, I don't feel BSmith would have made the long post he just did if he was scum.
That leaves Visor and Lazy (unless dcmort is a genius). From what little I've got to go on I'm leaning towards the former. The lack of an analysis post until it was pressured with a vote seems particularly suspicious to me.

Re: Choose Your Own Adventure Mafia [IN-PLAY]
I'd love to have some other dead townies or living suspects weigh in on this.
Right now without having done any serious analysis I have in order of likelihood/danger to the town:
1. BSmith and Elite Ferret 2 man scum team
2. BSmith and LazyMcCrow 2 man scum team
3. LazyMcCrow and Elite Ferret 2 man scum team
4. BSmith and dcmort 2 man scum team
5. Elite Ferret and dcmort 2 man scum team
6. BSmith serial killer
7. Elite Ferret serial killer
8. dcmort serial killer
9. Visorslash serial killer
10. LazyMcCrow serial killer
11. Some other combination 2 man scum team. I consider this unlikely.
With a lean to call for BSmith's head at the end of the round, but not a solid lock yet.
That's my list. What's yours?

Ah, should have refreshed before I posted, missed those last three posts.
I suppose a no lynch this round could actually work. At the moment we are all suspects so doing nothing means we'll have one less suspect tomorrow but still have the vote advantage that we'd lose by lynching a townie today. I quite like this idea.
unvote; vote:Elite Ferret I guess...

That's an interesting reaction.
My gut tells me to mark off Elite Ferret as a suspected two-man team member because you'd think they'd be coordinating off thread and would have known that I'd be calling for Ferret's head right now since he did that.
Doesn't clear him but makes it harder to say he's on a two man team.

Re: Choose Your Own Adventure Mafia [IN-PLAY]
If Elite Ferret is not on a two person team then my list of likely suspects goes to:
1. BSmith and LazyMcCrow 2 man scum team
2. BSmith and dcmort 2 man scum team
3. BSmith serial killer
4. Elite Ferret serial killer
5. dcmort serial killer
6. Visorslash serial killer
7. LazyMcCrow serial killer
I don't think Visor and Lazy are on a team based on their behavior toward one another.
Lazy's play does not indicate Serial Killer. It's too aggressive and easy to find fault in it. Easier to explain as town or mafia intentionally causing mischief. That's why I have him dead last for serial killer.

Re: Choose Your Own Adventure Mafia [IN-PLAY]
Trouble is... a no-lynch this round only wins for town if, and only if, there's a SK and not a 2 man mafia remaining.
EF is quick to embrace the no lynch. It's not what I was advocating for. And it wins for mafia.
On the one hand it's scummy... but on the other hand it shows he was not reading the thread closely.
If he's on a two man team he's got the game sewn up (he's probably not on a team with dcmort if he's also not reading the thread closely) ergo there's no need to read the thread closely, just cause a tie. Then again he's got no reason not to cause a tie if he's on a two man active scum team. The only danger then remaining is the living townies spamming the heck out of dcmort's inbox on other forums to try to get him to wake up, if they overtly out themselves today as a team.
Dunno if I can really cross off Elite Ferret for that. But right there was some genuine reaction of some stripe, and the more of those we have, the better I can analyze.
The key is to be correct in interpreting it. I can usually see things from several angles but sometimes I interpret things incorrectly.

Re: Choose Your Own Adventure Mafia [IN-PLAY]
If there is a two man team they have at least a 90% chance of winning now anyway.
I still feel pretty sure that there is just a lone serial killer but as you said I have not been following the thread as closely as usual so I may have missed some compelling evidence otherwise.
But yes, I feel that there is only one scum and that a no lynch today would increase the chance of them being lynched tomorrow.

Based on this, and his voting this round only, one can conclude that BSmith's list o suspects looks like this:
Most-least likely:
1) LazyMcCrow on a scum team of 2.
2) Visorslash on a scum team of 2.
3) Elite Ferret on a scum team of 2.
And, given his votes, he probably is accusing:
1) LazyMcCrow and Visorslash of being on a scum team together.
2) LazyMcCrow of being a SK
3) Visorslash of being a SK
BSmith, am I interpreting you correctly? Do you think Lazy and Visor are on a team together? You are assuming a team, after all, and they're your top 2 suspects.
You are therefore willing to lynch either one today instead of yourself. Yes?

I'm forced to conclude that as well, and as such it feels like this round is a waste of time unless dcmort is scum.
The no-think response is to ask everyone to vote to lynch dcmort today. The no-think part is because it seems like town loses in all scenarios unless dcmort is scum. If he flips townie, how do we feel about that?
There is a tiny, tiny chance town wins if dcmort is town if he becomes active, but that's too little to hope for or play for. Still the mafia might be trying to avoid just plain outing themselves just in case dcmort wakes up.
Do we play against a lurker win, or play lynch the top suspect?
