Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
As I understand it, the physical trait in men most universally found attractive by women is height (the equivalent in women being waist-to-hip ratio). Of course physical traits aren't the only thing playing a role, and individual tastes will also vary. I'm glad I found someone who didn't need a macho man, since I definitely don't qualify.

As they say... beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
That girl has had a bad expierence, lieing, or believes that muscular guys have nothing else to them but body's. The only problem is alot of women may find it intimidating, much like most guys are intimidated by beautiful women. Confidence, being good with words, and being as thick as a mac truck is still what most women want.
But then there's always the fringe of women who love skinny guys over the muscular. Found those when I was younger. There's women for every type, just need to be looking and not anti social.
Edit, and nothing can resist a good face.

Ha ha ha ha! I should keep reading the Frontroom from time to time - just to see if any threads actually manage to become more shallow than this!
STFTS - I believe you have the right idea lad, you go back to the gym! Go get 'em!
But I think I will return to my humble office and continue with my Greek, before taking a strenuous, enjoyable ride out on my property. Perhaps on the journey I might meet a maid. Perhaps not. Was macht es schon?

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
I'll tell you about girls. It's not your looks what attracts them, it's wether they think they have a shot or not. Mostly they fell in love when they don't have a shot. And the only time they are interested in a relationship is when you aren't, the only time they're interested in mere sex you have a relationship. Women just are trouble in general.
But then again they do have boobs... Err anyway... I picked up girls when I was as skin as a hair and when I was into shape. (Not a bodybuilder though, but still at the more muscular side of the spectrum) In the end it's your character bankaccount that matters.

This negates any complaint or bad thing about women. That's not just an opinion, that's a fact, from a book, and not the kind you see in fan fiction forums from those with way too much time on their hands, but an actual bookstore kind of book.

Couldn't be more true. I think you have to balance this a lot. I'm not saying you should be an ass to girls like many men are, but you can't be waiting hands and knees for them. For some reason they don't like a devoted guy (generalization of course).
Saddening I would say.

It's possibly true, but when I'm not devoted in a way I usually stay away from them as I do not really want them anyway. Having a relationship just for the sake of having one sounds even more saddening to me than having one with your PS3/computer. ~;)

I understand what you mean. There is no reason to love someone half-assed. I only think it is better to supress it at the beginning of a relationship so that you do not smother them. They have to chase a bit to feel happy (again, a generalization)

Well there are several physical and mental disorders which could stop you being muscluar, even for people without such disorders things like a bad metabolism a lack of time and other things can get in the way. The majority of people with some work could be muscluar though...
and well were on the subject....
you offered someone the other day (thats right you STFS) to help them with thier diet and training and such, i believe you said something along the lines of wanting a student/apprentice type thing... well i recently got myself a bench but haven't started anything really yet... i probably need someone cheering/shouting me on to get my ass into gear... so you up for it ?
Ill post my diet, body type and anything else you need tomorrow....
Edit: if im hijacking the topic i will happily make a new one tommorow... ive have been looking for an excuse to have my name in a topic..

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!

Great, thanks.
Ok, body type first, involves less typing, im 5"9.5 (yes that .5 matters!) 11 stone/154 pounds. Body shape best described as slightly skinny (possibly just under average) fairly defined/toned though... whats best described as an almost six pack... arms and legs have decent sized muscles (for my size at least)
Hmm, diet...
Don't usually eat breakfast, unless i didn't eat the previous day...
Main Meals:
Chicken Curry, home made with peppers onions and mushrooms
Pizza, usually with pepporoni and green and red peppers
Salmon and Noodles, with cheese melted on and a decent bit of garlic
Southern Fried Chicken, 2 pieces usually with 4 pieces of bread and a bit of ketchup
Beef burgers, as above, with melted cheese
Spaghetti Bolognese, peppers, onions, tomato, mushroom and a bit of cheese melted on
Tuna Bake, Tuna, Potato, crisps and some melted cheese
Sausages, Gravy, onions, potato and crisps
On an average day with that main meal ill have a few handfuls of grapes, an orange, a bowl or 2 of cereal (recently quite a sweet sugary one but sometimes shreddies) and averaged over the week probably a choclate bar and a pack of salt and vinegar crisps...
To drink ill usually have squash perhaps about 2-3 litres a day, probably drink about 2-4 litres of coke through the week and about a litre of banana milkshake, trying to drink more water starting today though!
I think thats about it... any other information you want ?

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
Eat breakfast. You're depriving your body by not doing so.

Alright. First lets start with what you gave me.
1. Eat Breakfast. You'll feel better and it will jump start your metabolism, not to mention it'll help you stave off the diabeetus.
2. At 5"9.5 you could stand another 70 lbs.
3. Diet could stand to be more varied.
Also, I need to know your goals. What do YOU want out of this? Short-term and long-term. Before I lay all the articles and motivational stuff out for you I need to know what it is you want.
I need to know what equipment you have.

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
I would say that gaining weight doesn't necessarily mean you're gaining that much true strength. In general swimmers and bikers are extremely strong (in their respective areas...swimmers-arms, bikers-legs).
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
You get strong by lifting heavy things, repeatedly. At 154 lbs LG could gain 50 lbs and look amazing while being very very very strong. Swimmers and the like can't hold a candle to strength athletes.
That is another thing I want to bring up. I know I'm probably coming as overbearing but this needs to be said. If you are going to weight train please go 100%. Mind you this is a sport, people don't understand that. Every time I train I act the same way I do when I used to play football. I clear my head focus, and make the weight my worst enemy.
People act like lifting weights is a hobby, "Oh I'm going to go lift" I hate the phrase. It's a dumb pet peeve but you have to realize if you truly want to change, you need to take this very seriously. I'm not calling you out by any means but just realize. If I could fly to the UK and yell in your ear I would but schooling and money problems prevent that.
Thats one of the reasons I blew up at AdrianII. He made reference to spending hours in the gym. That is one of the biggest myths out there. If I spend more than 1 hour in the gym I would give myself a heart attack.

Well, although my reasoning is slightly different than Strike's, I agree with the result. There's no point in going to the gym if you're going to half-ass(if the mods wish to censor this, I understand) it. I'm amazed at all the people I see at the gym on a treadmill or a bike and they're going about 3 miles per hour. There's no point. You don't get results from slacking off. You only get from a workout what you put into it. If you want results, you WORK OUT. Go all out. Get trashed, doesn't matter if you're running on pure adrenaline by the end if it. That's the best part, in my opinion. There is no better feeling than coming inches from crashing into the brick wall of exhaustion only to catch the glorious thermal of adrenaline and SOARING. But, like Strike, if I tried that for over an hour and a half or so, I would probably come very close to collapsing, literally.

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
Rather than make a hash of describing the thing i found a picture!
http://www.trade-it.co.uk/category/f...ery_impression
there is also a leg attachment not shown in the picture
Apart from that bench i have, a bar you lift with both hands and a bar you lift with one...
and for weights i have...
6 x 5 kg weights
4 x 2.5 kg
6 x 1.25 kg
1. Eat Breakfast. You'll feel better and it will jump start your metabolism, not to mention it'll help you stave off the diabeetus.
Im usually not hungry but i will make the effort from now on...
3. Diet could stand to be more varied.
I could probably include a bit more of a variety of fruit, some other fish, umm... chips or french fries as you call them... is there specific food or am i just looking for a little more variety... i do have cucumber and tomato or cucumber and cheese sandwiches a few times a week as well...
Also, I need to know your goals. What do YOU want out of this? Short-term and long-term.
Hmm... good question... short term i think i want to get bigger muscles... long term i would want bigger muscles and more definition...
To be specific strength isn't my top goal, i guess its more to do with the looks, more for myself than other people, finally getting a six pack would be nice also... so bigger more defined muscles is the main emphasis... is this specific enough ?

A bar you lift with two hands? Like an olympic bar? http://www.fitnessfactory.com/images/Item/134m.jpg
One hand? I don't follow. You mean like a dumbell?
Those wieghts are going to need to get heavier. Can you get heavier weights? Those may work for your first couple of chest workouts but deadlifts will be impossible. In total plus a 45lb olympic bar that is 140 lbs. Something that will be useless for the compound movements after you've started for a bit.
As for your bench it looks ok. I imagine you have nothing that resembles a power rack and no where to place the bar. I also imagine joining a gym is out of the question. The best leg exercise you can do is the Squat and it looks nigh impossible with the setup you have. But as of right now thats ok. Regrettable but we can work around it because we'll we have to.
Eat Breakfast. Force something down your throat.
Power foods. http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_...re_power_foods
Read the article. That is a great resource, it's where I get allot of info from. Also fish oil
Alright as long as you have goals. As of right now getting bigger muscles and getting stronger are pretty much one in the same for you. So you have the abstract goal now you need some short term ones.
"I benched X today in one month I want bench Y" Stuff like that.
Now for your routine.
This is the routine I first used and it is very good for beginners. Now mind this is just a template we can change things you can't or are unable to do. We can also shake things up if you feel like you can take on more or less
