Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
I was told today by a good female friend, in a rather off hand manner that guys with large muscles are not at the top of a Girl's "to do list", they would rather do a skinny little weener instead. I was shocked, and at the same time, hurt, in the way only large muscular guys can feel, so I went to the boxing club and did some skipping.
Is this news to anyone else out there? I thought women loved good muscle development, clearly I was wrong.
What should I do? I love my squats!
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
Yeh... I have many erm... lady-friends who dislike muscular guys...
Not really news here =/

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
That's a bit of a generalisation, now is it.
As long as girls you're attrackted don't mind muscular guys, you don't have a problem. Besides, there's more to you than your godly physic, at least I hope so.
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
Well theres plan a out the window... luckily i have a plan b
Girls still like money right ?
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
Some girls like skinny, some like really muscular, most like somewhere in between. Just look at most male leads...excluding the rock and arnold and such...
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
I'd like to know which union that girl was the head of being able to represent, if not all, many girls.
Looking like an orc, yes, totally ugly to look at. But I assure you, there is no single female creature on the surface of the earth if you have a body like, say, Cristiano Ronaldo 's. That's against the will of nature.
So she either meant the over muscular ones or that she's one that belongs to the exceptions.
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
Well, I know gals like neither fat guys nor too skinny or too muscular guys. Just like us, I believe. Note that if you're ripped or at least have some muscle and/or abbs is certainly a plus. Of course, there are always the exceptions, meaning some gals might actually like too fat/skinny/muscular people.

Right,
You've a good female friend? And, that's all there's to it, right.
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
Most of the above, additionally, a lot of girls don't like rock hard muscles because they're not nice/comforting to be held by.
Imagine being hugged by an actual rock.

Yep. There is a certain level that is just too much. You can be strong and muscular and not be all that unbalanced.
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
I once hugged a guy in full plate armour, if that could compare.
..it's painful.
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
You've got it all wrong!
If you want girls, you need to be that tortured artist type (tastefully done, of course).
You can still have your muscles, but that can't be your focus.
-
Re : Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
The only advantage of having a well developed body is that it allows you to have tatoos, of which most girls are found of.
That's why I'm actually going to the fitness room: to get some muscles, thus being able to get a few tatoos here and there. My parents will probably get mad, but I'll claim that I made a bet while drunk or something like that.
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
They say that but don't mean it. Get bigger muscles.
This is a fallacy. I'll be back to console you.
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
Its plagiarized by sums it up well:
Why go for the six-pack when you can have a whole keg?
The myth about muscly men has collapsed. The world (and the chicks) belong to us, the abdominaly (not abominably) curvy!! Haaahahahaharghhh!!!
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
Remember one thing- most girls will also claim that they want a nice guy, but we all know that's complete fallacy. So take her words with a bit more than a pinch of salt. I mean, taking the word of any female regarding relationships is sort of like a vegan pinko-hippy assuming they could convert SFTS to an all-tofu diet. Not only is the assumption untrue, its potentially dangerous.

The real trick here is not to want a girl.

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
Girls love muscles. They see those bodybuilders on TV and think "ewwww" When they don't realize that those bodybuilders look like that for two hours because they are so water and carb depleted.
In all reality Girls love a man who is as thick as a mac truck. They like to touch and feel. So for all that is SACRED AND HOLY don't stop lifting. Sooner or later that same girl will be feeling you up. Don't listen to the media or the mental midgets that tell you otherwise. Merely haters my friend.
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
In male versions of the babe thread the guys are muscular as hell... So, it's pretty much obvious that lots of them are attracted to that. Maybe many girls would be intimidated or feel not good enough for those muscles in real life. (just guessing, because I don't have a clue)
I'm right now on the strategy of not wanting a girl and not worrying about muscles n stuff... And it feels freaking awesome. :beam:
-
Re : Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
Girls are attracted by manli(y?)ness and extravaganza. You do not have to have muscles to look or sound manly.
Most girls actually don't care about the physical appearance of men, or at least, they don't care as much as boys do. The behavior/spirit is much more important.
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
Well, I am no Christiano Ronaldo, when I say muscles, I mean muscles, not 0 percent body fat, weight machine muscles. I mean normal free weight muscles, they are not as pretty as that, plus I have the physique of a front row rugby player (prop actually)/heavy weight boxer.
But still, what the heck! I went around town today and I started noticing things, such as all the raelly hot chicks were going round with really skinny guys in in really skinny jeans, waah!
Its time to initiate operation diet like Bob Dylan.

Have you though about swimming? That will slim you out without turning you into an actual rake.
The skinny guys thing is a bit of a fad, it will pass in a few years, in the meantime take a job that involves a uniform (not traffic warden! :beam:)

Obviously they have nothing clinking around in their cranium. Just bide your time and you'll get one 10x better... at least in theory anyways :sweatdrop:
As for the whole working out, being muscular, skinny, wearing girlyman pants. I find that just working out or doing what you do to stay in-shape, wear what you wear, ect... gets you what you want... so **** everyone else :2thumbsup:

Indeed I do swim! I have pool and all, yet to no avail, I was born to skip in a boxing gym and destroy opposing scrums (well thats what I think anyway:beam:)
I have also found that I am best suited to wearing smart bits of clothing such as suits and uniforms, thus my wish to open doors at the local hotel, ah the dreams...

The problem there are the peers. Look for other peers or just ignore them.
Though it also got me enraged when I was younger and someone called me a homosexual. Not anymore though, nowadays I embrace it, bathe in it, hug the guy or something, if he is a homophobe he will be careful what he says next time, if not he will know you have a sense of humour. ~D

Just wait until she ovulate, she might have a different opinion.
I am saying this because I distinctly remember there being a questionnaire about this very subject.
They tested x number of girls in uni with the question: do you prefer the masculine muscle man or the soft man. Depending on their menstruation cycle, they answered differently. The girls that were ovulating had the hots for the big guys, while those on the other end of the cycle wanted the soft caring man.
I was seriously into training when I was in high school and college and frankly, I can’t remember a time that I didn’t have a girl friend.
My wife is still complementing my torso and biceps, but not all the time though… I wonder …

The point is that it would take years for you to reach your potential before you needed drugs to enhance your physique or strength. People take steroids for a reason, it is a misunderstood subject and I'll leave it at that.
The common view of steroids is some guy in your local gym shooting up so he can have "TEH HOOGE GUNZ" is just flat out wrong.

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
The opposite happened to me. After about 6 months of weight lifting and losing about 5 pounds of body fat off my stomach, I had more girls flirting with me. I have no idea regarding your situation.

Well that's good news for a skinny guy like me! I haven't worked out since I took a desk job back in 2000.
Bopa, come to the States. The women here are ridiculously shallow and go bananas over any dolt with a gym body (I am not implying you're a dolt, I'm just saying). Get a tan and get kitted out out in a nice outfit that highlights your physique then go to a club that plays that abominable noise they call hip-hop and you'll be on the receiving end of a booty grind or two in no time... if you like that sort of thing.
People in general prefer toned bodies over non-toned ones but culturally speaking I can't think of any country that places greater value on an action figure physique than the United States. Makes perfect sense considering the cultural animosity directed towards any meaningful expression of intellect.

All three really. With the advent of MMA and the UFC these guys are infesting the club scenes which doesn't really pose a threat to me as the club is somewhere I go with a ladyfriend if I simply want to go out I will find somewhere to drink heavily. However these boys also walk into my gyms and that is very much my area.
They walk around with there chests all puffed out and act like they are carrying a watermelon each arm. They think they can take anyone because they did some presses and curls and even went to a few classes for muay thai or grappling or whatever.
What they fail to realize is that building serious muscle is hard work and learning how to fight is hard work. They are legends in there own 160lb minds. They roll 50 deep and all think there bros can take on anyone they come across. They think they are Gods gift to women and they deserve respect and in genral they show no respect.
In a nutshell they are merely boys in 16-24 yr old bodies whose egos are writing checks there mouth can't cash.

I heard that about the hight thing, think about it though: If there's some 4-6 inches difference it makes the kissing and cuddling more ergonomic.

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
I'm pretty sure that AdrianII referred to character as " the obvious distinction of attitudes, tastes and point of view from the others and the comfort of self-expression".
I'm truly ugly yet I attract attention of hotties once I find room to express myself.
Muscles help with first impressions. I'd not neglect them indeed.

Haha, just for the record, someone should siggy that.
As of the other stuff, it depends on the women. I generally find that women I wouldn't spend more than a night with go for muscles, shaved chests, tatoos on your ass, big cars, that sort of thing.
Now, as I drive a rental, refuse to shave anything below my neck, and weight a healthy 90kg with bodyfat around 20%, I just generally don't care.
Besides, as someone said before, girls go for manly. So just think of what would Clint Eastwood do in your situation, and do it, and you'll have no problems.
As of what women say, that was never a good indicator of anything. Every hear your ex say you're the most important thing in her life just days before breaking up with you? Exactly.

Just for the record... I do not live in a cave and study hormone cycles. I was just trying to cheer up the fellar. I happened to read it in some tabloid newspaper, but never followed up by checking documentation. I don't know if someone refuted it.
But I agree with the philosophy on the nicest girls wanting character. But the complaint was general, as in all girls hate muscle. This is erroneous and many of the muscular guys here will confirm this.
I am however outdated. My time were the 90'ies and back then you were never short of sweet admirers. If you could jump the highest, dunk a basket, lift the heaviest or run the fastest, you had instant popularity with the "popular" girls. In quotes because they were merely a pretty face with social skills.
I was the arm wrestling champion in my high school. I had the track record on 60m sprint and was the only one in my class that could dunk a basketball. The girls invited me out. Thinking back, I never asked a girl out during high school or college (gymnas).
My turning point came in the Navy. Somehow I built a character and the pretty faces was not intellectual stimulating.
Then I met my wife. What a woman. She had a pretty face and a brain.
I fell in love and it was a distant affair at first. She accepted a date proposal and we went out with friends.
She thought I was a jerk, acting my usual self. We had dinner and I was used to the officer boot camp way of eating. She told me later that she had never seen anyone finish their dinner faster.
I wrote her when I was stationed up north and she replied courteously. But there was no spark from her side.
A change of tactic had to be applied. I started sending her stuff anonymously. For valentines day, I sent her a poem that I calligraphed with a real inc pen. It was sonnet 18 by Shakespeare. I drove to a different suburb and posted it.
I joined a choir and became 1st tenor. I said yes to participate in a few operas and concerts. I once heard that she wanted to see Carmina Burana by Carl Off.
I was in the choir there and I told her that I could get tickets. She was a bit reluctant, but I said: I get discount as I am in the choir. She looked surprised and I got my hopes up again.
I later invited her to see Tosca and we had a good time with dinner and Opera. I ate normally and made sure to converse during the meal.
From the moment I first invited her out and till we became lovers, 5 years had passed.
It took FIVE years to get the love of my life, but her wakeup went fast. From the Burana concert and making joint future plans went within a few months.
My final point here is: She has later confided in me that she likes muscular men. She just needed one with a brain.
I was married before I asked her about the anonymous letters and poems.
When she realized it was me who had sent them ... well that is another story. :smartass2:

Wow, that is quite a story, Sigurd. Sorry if I sounded rather terse on the subject of hormones.
However my slight about the supposed sexual impotence of muscular gymnasts has a factual basis. I think this is not due to the muscle enhancing drugs that some of them take, even though some drugs are known to suppress sexual appatite. I think this is due to the low self-esteem that quite a few of them suffer from, which causes them to spend endless hours in the gym in the first place. So gymmania =/= impotence, but vanity, self-absorption and low self-esteem lead to both.
Women usually know or intuit this. However, if a man has muscle because of his job (construction, fire brigade, military) they tend do love it because it's 'real' (i.e. functional).
-
Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
Most guys start working out for sports and once you've started it becomes a habit like taking a shower everyday and brushing your teeth. You feel dirty if you don't take a shower and restless if you don't exercise.

Factual Bias? O RLY? Your post is filled with myth and just flat out lies. Just because the stereotypical bodybuilder is shown in magazines and on TV doesn't mean its true.
Women know this? Not here.
Trust me, muscle built in the gym is very functional.

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
As I understand it, the physical trait in men most universally found attractive by women is height (the equivalent in women being waist-to-hip ratio). Of course physical traits aren't the only thing playing a role, and individual tastes will also vary. I'm glad I found someone who didn't need a macho man, since I definitely don't qualify.

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
That girl has had a bad expierence, lieing, or believes that muscular guys have nothing else to them but body's. The only problem is alot of women may find it intimidating, much like most guys are intimidated by beautiful women. Confidence, being good with words, and being as thick as a mac truck is still what most women want.
But then there's always the fringe of women who love skinny guys over the muscular. Found those when I was younger. There's women for every type, just need to be looking and not anti social.
Edit, and nothing can resist a good face.

Re: Girls hate my muscles, GAH!!!!
I'll tell you about girls. It's not your looks what attracts them, it's wether they think they have a shot or not. Mostly they fell in love when they don't have a shot. And the only time they are interested in a relationship is when you aren't, the only time they're interested in mere sex you have a relationship. Women just are trouble in general.
But then again they do have boobs... Err anyway... I picked up girls when I was as skin as a hair and when I was into shape. (Not a bodybuilder though, but still at the more muscular side of the spectrum) In the end it's your character bankaccount that matters.

This negates any complaint or bad thing about women. That's not just an opinion, that's a fact, from a book, and not the kind you see in fan fiction forums from those with way too much time on their hands, but an actual bookstore kind of book.

Couldn't be more true. I think you have to balance this a lot. I'm not saying you should be an ass to girls like many men are, but you can't be waiting hands and knees for them. For some reason they don't like a devoted guy (generalization of course).
Saddening I would say.

It's possibly true, but when I'm not devoted in a way I usually stay away from them as I do not really want them anyway. Having a relationship just for the sake of having one sounds even more saddening to me than having one with your PS3/computer. ~;)

I understand what you mean. There is no reason to love someone half-assed. I only think it is better to supress it at the beginning of a relationship so that you do not smother them. They have to chase a bit to feel happy (again, a generalization)

Well there are several physical and mental disorders which could stop you being muscluar, even for people without such disorders things like a bad metabolism a lack of time and other things can get in the way. The majority of people with some work could be muscluar though...
and well were on the subject....
you offered someone the other day (thats right you STFS) to help them with thier diet and training and such, i believe you said something along the lines of wanting a student/apprentice type thing... well i recently got myself a bench but haven't started anything really yet... i probably need someone cheering/shouting me on to get my ass into gear... so you up for it ?
Ill post my diet, body type and anything else you need tomorrow....
Edit: if im hijacking the topic i will happily make a new one tommorow... ive have been looking for an excuse to have my name in a topic..

Great, thanks.
Ok, body type first, involves less typing, im 5"9.5 (yes that .5 matters!) 11 stone/154 pounds. Body shape best described as slightly skinny (possibly just under average) fairly defined/toned though... whats best described as an almost six pack... arms and legs have decent sized muscles (for my size at least)
Hmm, diet...
Don't usually eat breakfast, unless i didn't eat the previous day...
Main Meals:
Chicken Curry, home made with peppers onions and mushrooms
Pizza, usually with pepporoni and green and red peppers
Salmon and Noodles, with cheese melted on and a decent bit of garlic
Southern Fried Chicken, 2 pieces usually with 4 pieces of bread and a bit of ketchup
Beef burgers, as above, with melted cheese
Spaghetti Bolognese, peppers, onions, tomato, mushroom and a bit of cheese melted on
Tuna Bake, Tuna, Potato, crisps and some melted cheese
Sausages, Gravy, onions, potato and crisps
On an average day with that main meal ill have a few handfuls of grapes, an orange, a bowl or 2 of cereal (recently quite a sweet sugary one but sometimes shreddies) and averaged over the week probably a choclate bar and a pack of salt and vinegar crisps...
To drink ill usually have squash perhaps about 2-3 litres a day, probably drink about 2-4 litres of coke through the week and about a litre of banana milkshake, trying to drink more water starting today though!
I think thats about it... any other information you want ?
