Default Grain importation is implemented backwards

I just noticed this right now. Cities importing grain get no population bonus. Cities exporting to a city with grain get a population bonus. It doesn't matter on land but it does on sea.

Grain is exported along roads and other trade avenues - if you have two adjacent cities with a road between them and a grain resource in one of the two cities, you will see the 'grain' bonus in both cities. It's one of the reasons why the Egyptians do so well, as the Nile river floodplain contains several grain resources which propagate throughout their territory as soon as they start building roads...

I think you may have misunderstood me. I have Alexandria and every territory that it is trading with by land has a grain bonus. My concern is with sea trading. Alexandria is exporting grain to Salamis by sea yet Salamis isn't getting a 'grain' bonus because Alexandria isn't importing anything from Salamis. Alexandria is importing various stuff from Antioch yet not exporting grain to Antioch and Antioch was getting a 'grain' bonus until Antioch started exporting to Halicarnassus instead of Alexandria. I looked back in my Julii game and it was the same thing. Caralis is exporting to Carthage and getting a 'grain' bonus. It isn't importing anything from Carthage.

    That sounds like a bug...

Indeed, some settlements come with rediculously high growth levels due to grain imports. The same high growth can be achieved by slave "exports" - I suppose it should also be the other way around? Thanks for investigating.

I can confirm Andrewt's statement: grain population bonusses via sea trade are only awarded if the province is exporting to a grain resource. Importing the actual trade unit, grain, has no effect on population growth.
