Bloody lovely! Works perfectly and quite fun.
Although you can't build anything you can still get all your little armies together to have full stack rebel armies!!

Yup that worked fine for me Silvanus - interesting to play, but hard to keep track of all the new armies popping up :)

I just had a try with the rebels. The only file we need to modify is (starting from your RTW main directory):

    ./Data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign/destr_start.txt

And move "slave" from the nonplayable section to the unlockable section.

Rebel is very fun to play. Here are a few tips based on a few hours of playing:

    (1) No town will "go rebel" against you. So you can always tax highest, and you don't need to leave any garrison unless you want to defend against an invasion.

    (2) You can move your capital from Tara (which is Ireland) to a more cetral location, say, Athen. This way you can reduce some corruption due to distance to capital. (p.s. Defending Athen against hordes after hordes of other Greek forces are very fun.)

    (3) You can actually be earning tons of money as the rebel. First you want to decide which towns you don't want to defend - and too far away from your goal. Then you can disband the local garrison for good. Warband is very expensive to feed - and peasants are just useless. So you can get rid off a lot of them at the very beginning.

    (4) If you don't mind bribing, a rebel diplomat (disguised in the color of various factions) is the most horrible weapon for the rebel. Almost anything you bribe will love to join you. Wow.

    (5) The first easy targets are:

    - Asia minor. You have Cretian archers & Rhodian slingers on the mainland, plus some naked fanatics. You can quickly take over the Selucid & Greek towns there.

    - Sidon - Jerusalum area. You have powerful cavalry (camel) archers there. HA is god in RTW. If you take the Selucid capital, you can even produce HA there - meaning sooner or later you will take over Rome.

    - Germania. There are tons of rebel forces in the barbarian zones. You really want to watch out for the spearwarbands at the town center, if you didn't bring archers.

I only played a few years but are causing havoc in a lot of places. Now I just wish I have any family member around to develop...
