    Default Non-Roman generals are icon clones

    Recently, I came back to play the old Romans. Although they enjoy a similar degree of success on the battlefield, I found my family was filled with "realistic people" - none of them were as perfect as the Eastern/Barbarian/Phoenician clans. Somebody suddenly falls into sickness, -3 influence. Ops. Somebody suddenly gets "mad" and kicks the slaves around, -2 influence... all right.

    In non-Roman clans I always see "the typical hero", that is the victor & conquering hero (+6 influence -2 personal security) line, plus the good commander line. They are always useless tax assessors because for new territories tax rate has to be at "low" to prevent rebellion. So it ended up that I just get tons of "ethnical hero icons" around. They only have different names. Lacking different kinds of vices also make non-Roman factors a little too easy - simply too many high-influence figures around.

    I don't see any reason why some traits do not appear in the other cultures's generals. It can't be true that Armenians can't get sick or Numidians can't get mad. Is this some kind of Roman-centric stereotypicall complex...? ;)

    (I am not sure about the Greeks, sorry.)

    Yes, he did. The question mark gave it away to me, though maybe where you come from people always use three of them together.

    Maltz, are there not text files with the conditions for the various V&Vs where you can check which traits are specific to each culture?

    I saw a .pdf once containing all VnVs (Vices and Virtures )in the game, and I think that there are quite a few negative traits available for both Roman and non-Roman characters....

    I had a 10 star Seleucid family member who was an Unhinged Loon, Minion, Doubtful Courage (dunnno how he got that, never auto-resolved with him) and various other bad vices.
    But he was a god on the battlefield.

    I understand there are exceptions, but just there seems to be generally far more different types of vices & virtues that the Romans can have. I have so many non-Roman generals that are the "10-0-10" type, yet in Romans there are much more variety.

    I've played a Gaul campaing and virtually all my generals were half time drunk, half time at war!!! Everyone had the drunk trait, and a drunk uncle!! I was playing RTR 3.2. So in my opinion barbarians leaders are pretty well portrayed in the game

    Well, these sorts of V&Vs are usually triggered by the sort of temples you build. The Julii have the same problem with temples to Bacchus, so much so that if I were to play them again, I have a plan as to how to use Bacchus.

    I would build a single temple to Bacchus, somewhere of reasonable size but of fairly low income, probably Alesia. I would then sit a crappy governor in there to pick up Priests of Bacchus in his retinue, and then have another general ferrying these priests around to my good governors who can gain some handy increases in management and influence. I'd probably do the same thing with temples to Ceres in Lugdunum and Iavuvum. Everywhere else can have temples to Jupiter, who doesn't tend to produce such bad traits, as far as I can tell.
