Does anyone else love this game as much as me http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_pong

Never heard of that one, but drinking games in general are fun.

The two I play most would be card blowing and Mexico (ha!)
For card blowing you need a deck of cards and a bottle of heavy liquor. Put the deck on top of the bottle. Each turn you'll have to gently blow at least one card from the deck. The first one who accidentily lets the whole deck fall of the bottle loses and must drink.
Mexico is a dice game played here often as a drinking game, here you can read how it goes.

Gah! Y'all call that a drinking game?

We just take a dive if we're feeling playful:

Then afterwards, we bottle it and sell it for $60 a bottle to a certain country across the Pond where they can't tell decent wine from horse #### anyway.

I don't mean to spam the thread, but that game can get pretty intense sometimes...

We used to play an interesting drinking game at Rice University when I was there in the late 70's. It was called Thumper with Numbers.

We'd play with pitchers of beer, not wimpy cups or mugs. The idea is everyone has a pitcher of beer in front of them and then someone is picked to start. Everyone drums the table in front of them with boths hands (thus the name Thumper) and then the starter begins a number count. The thumping makes it harder to concentrate, especially as the drinking gets going. As a simple example, the starter says 1, then the next person clockwise says 2, and so on. The trick is that before you start, a reverse point is decided upon. It could be even numbers ending in 6 opr esoteric things like numbers divisible by 13. We used prime numbers greater than 3(hey, it was Rice and we were proud). So when a person said a prime number, the count reversed the other direction around the table. Player 1 said 1, next person clockwise 2 and so on until 5, which is the first prime after 3, Then direction shifted counterlockwise then at 7 back to clockwise, then counterclockwise at 11 and so on. Sounds easy enough, right? Not. Remember during all of this you have to keep thumping the table. If you screw up and forget that the person after you is going to have a prime number, which means you'll have to go again as the direction shifts - you drink. All of it. If you screw up and call out a number after the prime when it should have switched directions - you drink. If you zone out and forget it's your turn - you drink. If you stop thumping - you drink. Try remembering what numbers are prime after 23 or so when you're drunk, people are thumping and you're no longer even sure which direction is counterclockwise and which is clockwise.

Game was really popular at Willy's Pub, the bar at the Rice U. commons. So popular that during the late 70's, the third largest retailer of beer in Houston - population around 3 million at the time - after the Astrodome and the Summit (where the basketball team used to play and where concerts were held) was Willy's Pub. Fun times.

I dunno, they always end up with someone puking. Of course, so do most nights of intense drinking, but with drinking games it just happens way too early.

I think the faster drinking makes you enjoy the early buzz less, which is by far my favourite part of getting drunk, although what you did during the black outs can be fun to hear about...

I don't black out. That is the problem with me and drinking games- I remain cogniscent even when I am on the verge of getting sick or passing out (which is only accidentaly, and only once so far.)

Drinking games (with the right crowd) serve a great purpose. They teach you how to consume large quantities of beer, while still being able to focus mentally and stay under control. My favorites were Mexicans, High/Low, and reverse Pyramid. Games with bluffing and mental challenges were always good. Every once in a while, we would play a mindless chugfest like Beerhunter or UChug, but mostly that was a waste of beer.

Beer pong is the greatest game of all time.

I am writing this within feet of an oft-used beer pong table.

generally, the beer involved in drinking games isn't palatable enough to drink outright. so a game is constructed to keep your mind off of what you are drinking, or to simply coerce you to drink it anyway.
now i'm here, and history is vindicated.
