Has anyone else noticed the decreasing quality of those quotes?
In RTW, about 70% of those quotes actually had some deeper meaning or were memorable to some extent, but in M2TW, those quotes seem quite dull and some are totally pointless IMO like "Go, bid the men shoot"
I kind of would like a return of some brainy quotes or some which make you think or at least appreciate them. Otherwise a loading screen becomes really boring :D
Maybe there is a way for the community to gather good quotes fitting for a medieval timescale game (M2TW) and judge a bunch for inclusion in a patch or so?
I'm going to have to say that:
"I am the Holy Roman Emperor, and I am above grammar" is a pretty damn good quote.

machavelli is über dude. Hitler readed his stuff lol. Machavelli's book are philosophic ( and actually describes how to pwn your people and other peoples )
Lord Condormanius 23:12 12-03-2006
...and so many from Machiavelli.
FactionHeir 23:20 12-03-2006
Yup, I noticed over 40% are from Machiavelli. Those are mostly quite good, but what to do about the other 60% (or 30% if you insist that half of the rest are somewhat good)?
There's a proposed mod over in the mod section to make all the quotes from Monty Python and Black Adder and many more instead.
It's hard to beat:
"Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony."
"Well, but you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!"
"I mean, if I went 'round saying I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!"
EDIT: Found the thread for the opening quotes mod suggestions -

Greek and Roman antiquity lend themselves more so to quotation than does the Middle Ages.
FactionHeir 00:50 12-04-2006
Good pint Grotius, but I'm sure there had to be a select few scholars who said things which would make good quotes, even if fewer than in the Greek and Roman period.
M2TW even uses shakespeare quotes (although not in a good way and no good ones), so any more modern writer about medieval times or warfare would be fitting.
Thanks for the link Aenlian, looks like someone took up that idea a few days before I did :)
From this period, there are so many to put in. Machi of course makes a dramatic entry but there are so many others which which could have been included. Sloppy .... sloppy !
PATCH !!!

Anybody know what prompted this response and who it was
[quote=Aenlic]very amusing things from a very amusing quotable movie/quote]
I formally demand the following's inclusion in a future patch:
"Must be a king. Why? 'ans't got

all over 'im!"

This is a pretty minor point/grumble! But then we are on the 4th one of the series.
No they don't seem as good as the Rome quotes...but then I cannot say I am that bothered really...but what does bother me..and I want it back...! is:
Pick faction heir! Damn enough times had some looper being declared the new king, about as much use as a hot ice cream...annoying..miss this one big time.
Bring back the years instead of turns..very dumb (i know you can change this yourself..but still..
Bout it really.....maybe they ran out of quotes as they used em up in RTW...! lol
