My guide has been redone in a lot of aspects, I hope new members will make use of it.

Good advice from Caius!
Remember the part about an otherwise not-undeserving junior member making member to join in the fun in the Gameroom....
Hint....read my signature for links....hint.

Does it take very long to become a regular member?
It only took me about a week or so of active posting to become a member (I was registered a long time but didn't post). I think the key is to post contributive posts to the subject, rather than spam posts for a higher postcount, because in fact postcount has nothing to do with it. As long as you are making intelligent posts that encourage discussion, you will become a member in a short time. So your answer is no, it doesn't.

I am a testament to this account. I became a member after only 9 posts. I didn't spam. I followed all rules. But most of all, the initial posts I made were very (for a newb) comprehensive and always aimed to give the reader something valuable to learn.Originally Posted by Punicus

Actually, most parts of the forum are open to junior members, not just the Entrance Hall. The Miscellaneous section is about the only area that requires full membership -- otherwise, you're free to post everywhere else.Originally Posted by John Flint

Actually, I am unable to access the backroom. Do you have to be a Senior Member to do that? Is there a group membership?Originally Posted by Martok

You need to join the Backroom membership in order to post there.

The latter: you can request it in your user CP => group memberships. You'll have to be approved by the moderators, but usually that is just a formality. Membership of the Backroom carries with it no obligations, and can be can be cancelled at any time.Originally Posted by Punicus

Finally found this thread
I have read and reread the advice given and also noticed people becoming members after 9/10 posts. Have I been overlooked or is there something wrong with my posts? Feedback please.
I do not see any reason you would not be promoted. PM TosaInu.

It is possible you've been accidentally overlooked, yes -- it does happen from time to time. As Caius said, though, just PM TosaInu; he'll be able to help you out.Originally Posted by Brave

Possibly it's because they skip straight to the M2TW and RTW guides, ive seen many junior members using their first post in forums like them. Just a note to all new members, many people will say it takes exseedingly long amounts of time to become a member, this is infact untrue, i became a member a few days after i had joined, i just matters on if you are noticed by the moderators, and this does not mean spam every thread you see, it means quality threads, with no bad language or anything like that

Obviously do not feel that good grammar is essential. The quality of your ability to write in English is not being monitored. Just a note for new members from countries where English is not the first language.
Grammar is important, because others can't understand you, and I speak in my case, being an Spanish speaker. We only dont like "1337 english". Nor LENglish :P
