I don't know how much it would help, but try Rarring or Zipping it instead of copying. It compresses it somewhat.

I installed the hotfix 3 times over a clean rtw 1.5 + eb 0.81(full), all 3 times it removed almost completly eb0.81 (from 3,65 gb to 2,42 gb).
Install of the hotfix took approx. 25 min. and it was removing files for about 15 min. Maybe the guy's who installed the hotfix (via the installer ) and it worked right were doing this over a rtw 1.5 + eb 0.80 + eb 0.81 patch or rtw + bi.

I don't know if this is helping , but you never know ( it's strange that the same hotfix is working for one and notfor the other) I followed all instructions by the book and couldnt get it to work.

The full install 0.81a is working fine.

Thanks eb-members for your quick replies and for doing such a great job with this mod, it's fantastic.

hmm..i have even install the (zip) patch and it works fine atm...i have now year 193 roman campaigne, my save game works and no crash...patch is working since i have now in the other 5 Italian City´s Principes that were not recruitable before (polybian reforms atm) so i think its working even with savegames that were made before.

I have just finished installing (on a fresh RTW1.5/BI1.6) the EB0.81 + Patch0.81a. Running the patch took a long time, most of which it was "removing files". Now I look into my EB/Data folder and see that there are only the following files:

    descr_model_battle.txt
    descr_rebel_factions.txt
    descr_settlement_plant.txt
    export_descr_buildings.txt
    export_descr_unit.txt

    And only the following sub-folders:

    loading_screen
    menu
    scripts
    text
    UI
    world

Which is obviously missing a whole load of important stuff. The music files for example.

    Good morning EBers

    just some additional info

I found that post the 0.81a hotfix - if I reinstalled 0.81 over the top - the game strats working again fine - v0.81 of coarse - so I would agree the 0.81a installer appears to be removing certain 0.81 files, files added as part of the 0.81 install it would seem.

just doing what I can to fill in the blanks

    keep up the good work

Just a little note - to be absolutely sure the hotfix itself worked, I checked a battle in-game, and my KH general is now with a unit of spartans (which I definitely did not have in the build earlier), so I'm 100% sure that it worked fine with me.

Like some others the patch does not work with me. During instalation the normal shortcut disapear and i get a faq shortcut. A lot off files missing in EB directory. With the full instalation the game works fine. Only i have 2 shortcut's now one normal and also the faq shortcut is present. But the game seems to work fine. Thanks for your effort to fix it.

I'm convinced this an installer issue. Why is a shortcut to the FAQ page created? Also, my version EB081 patch shortcut disappears. I have to access the game thru the older EB08 shortcut. I believe this is directing you to the wrong place or something as critical data lines are missing etc. How do I create my own shortcut to the EB081a hotfix version? I'm not an expert, but i think this may have something to do w/problem...thx

Last night i had a lot of trouble installing the hotfix patch over a EB 0.81 bi.exe; disencouraged after several CTD i installed the full installer and have now no more problems at all.

follow this instractions for playing EB 0.81a with ib.exe; no more problems have shown up till now...

Thanks again the complete EB team for your magnificent work; and especially Kull for dealing with us blind and dump people not managing to install a simple patch!

    Heh, my test too

Link to the FAQ but no link to .81a makes sense to me.
Many people have issues & don't read the FAQ then post topics "how do I <X that is in the FAQ>"
No new shortcut is made because the link to .81 created by the .81 installer is still valid, its still essentially .81 but with hotfixes added.

I'm wierded out by this whole installer deleting many files thing... didn't do it to me
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...

After the failed hotfix, I reinstalled Eb0.81 and then extracted the ZIP file. This time the mod updated correctly and I am able to play 0.81a. Definetly seems like the problem is caused by the hotfix executable removing things it shouldn't.

The team gets a HUGE number of repeat questions, most of which are answered in the FAQ. So the Hotfix is designed to drop a link to the FAQ on your desktop, in the hope that people will be more inclined to consult it.

The Team, as always has done a fantastic job getting the Hotfix prepared and tested. But sadly, the "simple patch" seems to have had a built-in flaw that caused it to uninstall EB. I can assure you guys we DID test this before releasing it - we always do. But as many of you know from first hand experience, sometimes the Hotfix installer works PERFECTLY - and that was our experience duing the internal test. So people out here weren't "blind and dumb", and we apologize to those who did everything *right*, and STILL were getting CTD's.

At least we had a solid "Plan B", and fortunately that has worked well.

I can get the FTP link to start downloading, but the download dies after a little while. I think it has to do with the fact that I'm currently computing in the People's Republic of China on a university system.

Torrents work fine, so if someone would do me the favor, that'd be totally cool. Of course, you could just use yousendit or something too.

I can't get it to download for more than few seconds either, and the torrent's aren't working either... weird.

I'm also in the People's Republic of China and have had a lot of problems downloading it too. (China has over a billion people, a huge market for EB to exploit!) Torrents work good for me too, I can seed after I download too. Thanks a bunch!

The FTP must be overtaxed or too distant from some people. Maybe it should be uploaded to a third-party server somewhere for some people. My internet sucks, or I would (plus time to sleep).

I would suggest to those of you that are getting corrupt downloads, or you that are having problems with the download quiting mid download, to get a download manager/resumer. GetRight is a common one. That should restart stopped downloads and help them not quit. If the problem is the download turning into a trickle and then stopping, it may not help...

P.S. I think there was a problem making the torrent or there would be one, IIRC.

Edit: Removed link as it pointed to the non-hotfixed patch.

    Kull,

I dont think theres a person here who doesnt have the greatest respect and admiration for what the EB team has achieved. The work speaks for itself. I think we all understand that when it comes to computers and in particular modding - $&!* happens. I think people are just eager to help in anyway they can by reporting small problems before they become big ones, and I guess the only problem is this mod is so great, excitement quickly turns to disappoitment when they cant play the latest version. And as in all cases you guys were well prepared with an alternate. Its a no blame culture, and if you guys are to blame for anything its creating a mod that has re-addicted people to game they had long ago shelved, and being too efficient and professional, thus when something does mess up - people go into a panic

anyone willing to help seed the torrent? your international eb fans are stuck at 16.6% and i would seed forever until all needs for the patch are fulfilled.

or maybe upload the zip file onto filefront or other filesharing website? any help with spreading the love would be very much appreciated.
