Welcome, Ichigo.(and tripwirescars!)
Sorry guys, I ran out of time to finish Genoa tonight. The game is minimized on the desktop and it will (hopefully) be done tomorrow morning.

Regarding the transferring of the Capital, it's certainly worth pointing out that by doing so, all the northern provinces will suffer a decent decrease in happiness due to distance penalties. For many this will involve reducing taxes and income and some will even have to be further garrisoned, since taxes are already at Low. This applies especially to Franconia and Swabia.

swabia and assassination! oh my.
No, only kidding. It was a reference to the fact that my character got assassinated. I should say that the chances of anyone getting assassinated again are pretty slim.
So don't let me put you off any House.
Oh, and welcome, tripwirescars!

I have found in M2TW distance penalties aren't that bad, I always figured it was so the new world colonies wouldn't be impossible to control.Originally Posted by TinCow

Ok, I've updated the Duchy of Swabia thread a bit.
I would encourage the other Duchies to make lists of their respective Dukes and Counts, listing when the reigned etc.

Fredericus Erlach, Overseer of Genoa, Count of Ajaccio in exile, 4th elector of Bavaria.
Yay! Another Swabian Elector! Yay!
Welcome Ichigo and the new Swabian Elector: tripwirescars!
Welcome, Ichigo you are now the 5th Elector of Franconia; and Tripwirescars you now the 7th Elector of Swabia.
Until you get assigned an avatar, the Diet will be the main place for you to do stuff. You can roleplay a character and take a stance on the issues of the day. The hot topic at the moment is the Emperor's attack on the Papacy, so sooner or later you will want to take a stance on that. In 2-3 turns, we will have a Diet session and elect a new Chancellor. At that session, you will be able to propose one new law (Edict) and vote on other laws & the Chancellor.Originally Posted by tripwiresacrs

Erm I thought tripwirescars would be 6th?
Looking at TC's table in the library, he moved all of us up 1 slot and Ignoramus down to 5th, but I din't know if he did that with your authorization or not.
Want gunpowder, mongols, and timurids to appear when YOU do?

I think TinCow is just re-arranging the library after Sigismund's death - it does not affect the ranking of electors which is given in my table in the first post of the Chancellor and Governor's report. Sigismund was the 2nd Elector of Swabia and von Salza is the 3rd. With Sigismund's death, I've decided not to change everyone's nominal ranking as it will just confuse things if people's names keep changing. The 2nd Elector slot can remain empty and Ignoramus is reincarnated as the 6th Elector. Nominal rankings don't necessarily determine who gets first call on the avatars - I'll deal with that on a case-by-case basis (too many bridges to cross at this juncture in time).Originally Posted by FactionHeir
I have also updated the House of Austria thread.
I have put Bizzair down as an inactice player and also Verdizzy. I haven't heard from the latter since quite some time now so it's only just and fair to have those participating a lot like Northnovas and ArchdukeEvan to move up in the hierarchy.

OK, thanks for the heads-up: I've updated the playlist table to make it consistent with the first post in the House of Austria thread.Originally Posted by Ituralde

I believe governing of Bavaria means the recent change in management of that Duchy and the corresponding title switches.

As Otto said.
He is the DUke of Bavaria now, so its not Mandorf that governs the settlements anymore. Also the capitol etc

@ TinCow in the Diet
arn't thieves guilds more about spying and informaton gathering than theft? i.e. help us make better spies or something like that.
would have said something in the diet, but couldn't think of a way to get it in character.
and Congrats on taking Zagreb Ituralde!

Yes, in terms of gameplay mechanics, they are designed for training spies... which is really the main reason I want to knock most of them down. We use very few spies and need at most 1 Thieves guild. The AI has a strange tendancy to build them everywhere though, so most of the cities we have captured have them already. I would far prefer Merchants Guilds, Explorers Guilds, Horsebreeders, Theologians, or frankly anything else. A nice mix would be idea with one or two of each scattered around the Empire. As it is now, we've got 2 Merchants (I think) and the rest are all Thieves.
i do so enjoy the swordsmen guild..at least they give u a attack bonus to all troops built there
To overknight: Can i possibly get the year so i know how many turns go by...thanks man

TinCow, I forgot to put this in the PM; would you mind removing the Thieves' Guild in Rome? Heinrich doesn't really fell comfortable there. Thanks.

TC: Feel free to demolish the thieves guild in Milan, it's Southern European, built by the money changers. However, as Northern Italy does need one thieves guild, leave the one in Bologna. If you disagree, send me a PM.
GH: Are we going to see a battle report? I'm very curious as this would be the largest battle ever in the PBM, and in a city no less. I've haven't even loaded the save, so as to not spoil myself.

Ok, so here's the OOC deal with the Crusade. We're in serious danger of turning the KOTR into a WOTS style steamroller campaign. The Household Armies are pretty damn strong at the moment, allowing us to wage war in 4 directions at once. Since we're excommunicated, there's pretty much nothing that's restraining us from taking over the entire map except ourselves. Doing so may be glorious, but it's not good for the game. KOTR should be a LONG game that takes several generations. I think we were all somewhat disappointed that WOTS ended before all the starting generals were even dead.
The "no expansion" clause of the Crusade Edict is meant to address this. Let's just sit back and direct our energies at internal development for a while. We will be constantly attacked, which will be fun for the people who command the armies at home, and the difficulties of the Crusade will be fun for those who go.
Also, the Crusade will probably allow us to quickly zoom through a whole bunch of game turns. This is a good thing. We have a lot of people without avatars and we have a TON of underage family members. If we can push the game forward 20 turns quickly, pretty much everyone will be provided with an avatar. It would be far better for the game if more people had a specific identity to play and the prospect of a new avatar to take up immediately after their current one dies.
Finally, it will actually be something of a challenge. I think we all know that the TW games can be a bit easy, and we're doing a remarkably good job in spanking the AI in KOTR. If we want this to be exciting, we need to make efforts ourselves to ensure that the game is difficult. If we stop expanding for a while, it will let the AI build up larger armies and throw higher quality troops at us. Creating a small ‘Crusader States’ realm will also eventually bring us into conflict with the Mongols. This will definitely be good for role-playing purposes.
I really think this will be good for the game as a whole and these factors should be considered when deciding whether to do the Crusade. Keep in mind, this is NOT a real Papal crusade via the in-game mechanism. The idea is simply to build an army and pack it off to the Middle East to find fortune and glory.
