Eh, it's not that bad. On the bright side, I have now tied Mount Suribachi's record of most avatars played in a PBM game.

Will do, FH. Give me a bit of time though.

@BtG, did you zip the file first?

I've got 2 reports up, had a 3rd written, hit post and my connection timed out, It's totally lost, to quote the org in general (afaik): BAH!

I'll try again tonight, but no promises

I usually select all my writing and hit ctrl + C, before hitting the post button. That way I can paste it back in how often I want to.

Also, sad to hear about Jens Hümmels death. Always bad to loose a character this unexpected. The mortality rate sure has risen up.

It looks like Bob the Great never figured out how to upload his save.

I would recommend reading this thread:

    https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=30871

It helped me when I first started. You have to give the save a unique name "kotr1284-1" for example for the uploader to accept it. It won't accept a file with the same name as something it already has. It also has to be in a .zip or .rar compression format to be accepted. If you don't have a compression utility, some can be found on the web for free or cheap.

Well, no time to wait, the save's open for business again. Have at it.

I would still like to try and preserve Bob's game, if possible, so that he doesn't have to play it again. I just sent him my email via PM, so that he can send me the save directly if he can't figure out how to upload it.

I always use word rather than post directly into the board when I do battle reports.

I'm not going to hold up the game for a small battle against rebels. If BtG wants to write a report off his save, that's fine, I'll even put the stats in the summary. However, I don't know when he's going to be on line again, or if he can then succesfully upload the game. We've got four other battles, so I'd like to keep the ball rolling.

I can fight the battle tomorrow night I think if I had the save now, but I think if I get the save tomorrow night, then I can fight it on Wensday afternoon. Sigh.....Still kinda busy, but alot better than the summer now

You don't have a battle this year Xdeathfire, though I would like you to take a look at the save. Caen area is swarming with French troops and if I send the Sw HA in, it'll be messy. I'd like your thought as army commander on the matter.

My condolences, GH. I know how it stinks to lose an avatar which you have no control over.

IC, however, Wolfgang is quite pleased, as he now has one less rival to the Duchy.

I was considering naming Wolfgang the Count of Metz in the letter to the diet, but that would have sounded as if Hans intentionally killed Jens

Well, you got a valid reason. Lorraine has been in the hands of the Hummels' since 1168. Besides, Wolfgang has changed...

Ah, the fraternal bond is not one we're currently embracing in this PBM, is it?

Well, Wolfgang considered Jens to be a drunken fool and thus damaging the family name, so although he's genuinely upset at his brother's death, he considers that perhaps it's for the best.

ok judging from this thread the only problem was I didn't convert it to a .zip, I uploaded a save before without any problem so I should be able to now if I can find a .zip converter. But yeah if I'm taking too long don't worry I can always fight it again.

edit: I can't seem to find a .zip converter, can anyone point me to one?

Bob emailed me the save, but I am at work now and for some reason the uploader is blocked by my work firewall. I have zipped the save and emailed it to OK.

The irony of this is, Jens was probably the family's only hope of restoring the Hummel name...

Jan and Helmut might not get along but Jan and Dieter are pretty tight and their brothers-in-laws. :D

Which OS do you run? I've got Windows XP pro, and it has .zip compression utility. I right click on the save and send to compressed folder.
