That was 1282 as well, and it was auto-resolved. The French besieged again with a smaller force in the new year. Hence the confusion.

I really don't think I could ever realistically be the Chancellor with the size this game has gotten to

I was thinking of that...but what...I've run out of steam to a certain extent.

    Ahh well.

I might go play tennis or something.

lol, do these two go together?

Tennis can be very exciting. Get a metre away from the practice wall and see how many times you hit yourself with the ball while practicing high-speed volleys. Great fun, I guarantee it, and the trip to the physician after breaking your nose is exciting indeed!

I wonder how many bombs get dropped in the Diet solely because the player gets bored. I know a few of mine were for that reason.

Yeah, you have to do something to pass the "deadtime" when we're waiting for people to fight their battles.

Well, we now have caen. This I believe is the hardest battle I have ever fought in Kotr.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The odds were not in my favor as they had about 500 more men than I did and had a general. Not a good one, but still a general does alot in big battles if he stays alive.

I am too lazy to do a battle report, so here is what happened until I post the full one on the weekends.

The main reinforcement of about 1000 people came behind me. I did an immediete turn about and charged with my infantry and heavy cavalry simultaneously. My crossbowmen were kept near the 600 men force to distract them. The enemy infantry line went down pretty quickly, but I had to split off my infantry line to attack a group of aventuriers.

I sent the rest of my infantry towards the second reinforcement group while my cavalry tried to finish off the enemy general.

By this time, by crossbowmen just got charged by some noble knights so I diverted my first infantry group to help them. My mounted crossbowmen were sent to destroy the enemy artillery, there were 3 units of them and I was afraid that they could get a lucky shot. Unfortunately, the French had wayyyyyyy to many Aventuriers/ Crossbowmen and I had to use my main cavalry to help my mounted crossbowmen.

With my attention devoted there, my first infantry group chased a group of routers too far and was started to get surrounded while my crossbowmen just entered melee with a equally sized group of aventuriers/crossbowman.

I sent my General which still had 32 bodyguards left to relieve stress from my trapped first infantry group. By that time, they had started to route and things looked grim for my crossbowman too. I was afraid that half of my infantry line would route followed by my crossbowman leaving me with crippled after the battle.

Luckily, I diverted the rest of my heavy cavalry which consisted of maybe 25 men left to help my pavise crossbowman while charged my secondary infantry line to the main enemy that is left. My crossbowman pulled through due to the route created by my cavalry.

When my secondary infantry engaged, I got a very nice charge from my bodyguard and started a mass rout. That is the end of the battle and I had to chase down any stragglers.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

After this, I had about 563 men left, but only 260 were left in Caen. I executed the prisoners, ordered the spy nearby to infiltrate the castle and got the gates to open. The French forces left were mainly crossbowmen so I made a quick charge to the center and took the castle easily.

Cool, I'm heading off to work shortly so I won't be able to resume the game until tomorrow around 1200 GMT.

This will give Warluster another shot at sallying from Paris if he wishes. If that doesn't occur, I'll have to auto-calc, or let the siege continue to next year.

Edit: Also there's probably going to be disruptions in my term over the weekend. I have a friend's bachelor party to attend and my parents are having a cook-out on Labor Day (Monday holiday in the US). I'll try to time Battle Queues over these gaps, but we'll see.

You've done a very good job at keeping things moving while you've been Chancellor. Not an easy task this late in the game. I don't think there will be any problems with a slight, temporary slowdown.

You could commit blasphemy by installing other games that you can kill time with while the PBM is quiet.

On second thought, how many people would be currently willing to help create a second PBM of the scale of KOTR while KOTR is still running? I was initially wanting to put that off till after KOTR, but things have quieted down a lot lately, so a headcount would be informative.

I've already got a basic ruleeset outline and a selection of possible factions.

I would, but maybe it would be wiser to wait and make a PBM with Kingdoms? Maybe a Americas one, either way though, I am in.

Actually, is it possible I could skip my battle?

I'll just go play more tennis.

    Ok so Kingdoms is out.

    Who's getting it and why?

I'm really undecided. I've got plenty of playing time left on MTWII.

I'll probably get it if/when CA decides to actually fix bugs in M2TW rather than putting all new features into Kingdoms only and abandoning the main game.
Citadel post by Lusted indicates that hotseat functionality for instance was added for Kingdoms only, leaving the non Kingdoms buyers in the dust.

Give me the executive summary of the main bugs left in MTWII?

    Is that possible :)
