On the issue of re-unification, Factionheir has told me he has the ability to mod the game to get the Byzantines to accept being our vassals. So that will be how we represent it in game, if it goes ahead. I don't want to get into details on the game mechanics publicly though, as you have agreed to trust us on that and dwelling on it will undermine suspension of disbelief.

We can't represent religious re-unification in game, so if that happens, people will just have to "imagine" it - like we imagined our toy guns were real as kids. As a I heads up, I going to take over the role of the Pope in my role as Gamesmaster. And he is very big on religious re-unification.

BTW, I was surprised to read how recently the Catholic and Orthodox churches divided (just prior to M2TWs start) and how little separates them today in terms of dogma. I picked up my two preconditions for re-unification in the story - drop the Filoque clause and Papal infallibility - from a contemporary Orthodox church discussion.

EDIT: Factionheir has just come up with a way to represent religious re-unification in game: stop Byzantium being able to train priests and set the Byzantine lands to gradually convert to Catholicism.

    Oh, hells.

I am currently running 2 M2TW installations. One of them is 1.2 for KOTR, the other is modded. The modded game is the one that was installed last, and which the computer searches for when installing/uninstalling/etc. When I go to patch the KOTR install to 1.3, the setup rejects me because it only sees the modded install and I can't tell it to install in the 1.2 directory. Thus, I can't load the 1300 save game until I reinstall the entire game from scratch again. I'm rather busy this weekend due to various RL issues and I am going out of town on Sunday.

So... it would help me a very, very great deal if someone could do all the screenshots for the Library update. If there is anyone out there who wants to spare me a lot of pain and agony and time I don't really have at the moment, could you take the proper screenshots and upload them to one of the usual image hosting sites, and then give me a link to it? I will be happy to do all the photoshopping, but I at least need the raw screenshots to work from.

Ignore this for a moment, I have an idea on how to fix it.

Will this reunification push the game into victory condition?

If not then it is a good idea story-wise but won't it eventually results in the Byz loosing most of their territories from religious rebellion unless their official religion is change to catholic too?

Yup, that's what I said, they'll revolt because they can't build priests anymore.

I thought that religious unrest only ocured if there were high levels of more than one religion in that area and that if it was 100% on any religion then it would remain loyal. Anyway it's best to leave that to the expert (aka FH)

Nope, it has to do with cultures as well.
I thought the same as you, but currently I'm working on a mod with others (I do the easy things anyone can ). And since it's version 0.1 the map is only just done. All provinces are islamic, hence the high rebellion rates of all cities (the map covers France, the Low Countries and England and Wales).

Okay, I'm about to patch up. The correct order should be:

    - FH's 1.28a
    - Official 1.3

    Correct?

I'd be inclined to reverse the order - patch the game, then add FHs mod.

Library photos are uploading now and the 1300 ones will be showing up in the Library within the next few minutes.

I would like to request some help for the rest though. If someone has some time, I need the following written down and sent to me via PM:

    1) Names and ages of underage males and unmarries females
    2) Names of wives/children for any avatars that are missing them
    3) Locations of all avatars in 1300
    4) Fully updated titles for all avatars
    5) Any famous battles I am missing
    6) Anything else I am missing

If this is done, it will save me a LOT of time.

I'll do it in the next hour or so.

As for religious reunification, I already have a plan on how to do it. Won't spoil it though, since this is suppoed to be mysterious and not yet decided.

Modding installation order: any way works. Patch doesn't overwrite the mod and patch installs over it just fine without interfering with it.

Reunification will actually make us victorious if Byzantium has enough provinces to make it 45 for us. Not big deal though, since victory doesn't mean we cannot play on and it doesn't influence the game in any way. The 15% glory bonus we got since Rome was taken early on anyway.

I'd like to know then just how many people have some inkling of what is going on.

Clearly Stig does because he wanted to and that was apparently fine.

FH seems to because he is working on various aspects of the game

    TC, and Econ...anyone else?

Ituralde, TC and I have worked out a draft plot, but it may change due to events. We haven't told Stig, but would if Ansehelm becomes very involved.

A few other players have agreed to play parts in the plot, but don't know the full context or, in some cases, even their part yet. If anyone would like their character to be worked into the main story and/or has some ideas, PM TC or I, and we will hammer something out. But we won't reveal the plot, even to the actors[1].

[1]It's like 24 or Lost or something, when the actors are only given the script on the morning of the shoot....

... which may mean even the writers don't know how it is going to play out. Nina was a terrorist? So why did the terrorists order her to be shot What do you mean, the @#$%^&!!!ing numbers? etc

    TC:

1)Males: Dieter von Kassel, 11. Johann Zirn, 10. Jan Zirn, 3. Herrmann Steffen, 5. Wenzel Steffen, 1, Bernhard Steffen, 1.
Females: Chunegundis von Heidelberg, 2. Eue, 4. Rainilda Bresch, 2. Gersenda von Kastilien, 4. Lucardis von Kastilien, 3. Gredechin Becker, 2. Siburg Zirn, 8.

2)Only missing wife is Meinburg Scherer (Arnold Scherer). Children as above. (Eue being Elberhard's, and Kastiliens being Siegfried's, and Steffens being Lothar's)

3)Hans: Marseille Region, Tancred: Vilnius Region, Scherer F: Caen, Karolinger: Palermo, Athalwolf: Paris, Dietrich: Rheims, Siegfried: Rome, Arnold: Budapest Region, Bresch: Jedda Region, Elberhard: Jedda Region, Lothar: Florence Region, Ansehelm: Vilnius Region, Jan: Antioch Region, Peter: Krakow Region, Fritz: Magdebuerg Region, Karl: Damascus Region, Matthias: Adana, Hümmel: Rheims, Becker: Bran, Erlach: Florence Region, Lorenz: Budapest, Scherer A: Rome.

    4) Will come later (Probably after everyone announces Counts etc)

    5) Missing: Friedrich Scherer beat Captain Yves (France) outside Caen in 1284. Dietrich von Dassel beat Captain Oudart (France) outside Caen in 1292.
Needs correction: Scherer's battles in 1240 and 1242 at Paris were actually fought at Caen.

I scoured the entire worldmap in zoomed in mode, so that's all.

    6) You are still using KOTRfix 1.26 or earlier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3+ versions behind...

TC it appears FH has covered the bases. He caught my stuff.

I have downloaded the 1.3 patch is there any instruction on installing the patch. It does not have compatability issues with the gameplay of mods already installed?

Safe to install really. The only thing I noticed after 1.3 is the game running slower actually.

Jan has no clue about the cataclysm what-so-ever. I'm just playing him according to his traits, agenda, and reacting to the events around him.

I have to keep stretching to find ways to RP his insanely high piety.

Hans doesn't really know much about it really.
And I was thinking of bringing his piety in somewhere, but I'm not really that versed with the bible, so yeah. OOC limitations.

Oh I know all about OOC limitations. I don't believe in God so I'm really just making this up as I go along. Never read the Bible in my life so I can't do that cool "quoting scripture" thing that others have done. The only exception is when I researched the Crown of Thorns and found some parts of the Bible that it is in and put them in one of my stories.

So, I have tried to get around my OOC limits by letting Jan's piety guide and shape his agenda. What's funny is that Jan also has the "mostly rational" trait so I had to figure out how to reconcile the two. Hopefully I have achieved a hybrid of high piousness yet not a biblical literalist. I think that's why he can be ok with the religious unification. If he didn't have the rational trait, he might very well be on the other side right now.
