Fritz uses the golden rules of unchivalrous behaviour:

• any rumour defaming your enemies is true
• any rumour exposing your own guilt is false
• anyone who does not play by these rules is an enemy

Makes life very simple, really. Also sounds like a supervisor I had a couple of years back.
