To try to clear the air, playing this game - particularly now, when there are elements of competition as well as cooperation - there are going to be IC tensions between characters. But it would be daft if we let IC conflicts become OOC ones between players. It would be like an actor playing a Montague getting mad at another for playing a Capulet. Also, we should try to refrain from criticising how other players are playing out their IC roles. That would be like one actor criticising another on set for doing a poor job. We are only human and we do have emotions, we do make critical judgements etc, but we should be careful how we express things in public as they can cause animosity and hurt.

On the issue of whether Dukes can ban people from their House threads, there are arguments on both sides of the issue. As with most things in this PBM, we are making the rules up as we go and as long as we approach this cooperatively, in a good spirit, that may be a virtue rather than a vice. On reflection, I’m inclined to say Dukes should have the power to exclude players from their House threads - it does seem fitting given the Kaiser’s comparable power in the Diet. Jan’s long letter to the Franconians would probably best fit in the Imperial Messenger Service thread, given that Ansehelm is refusing to give him a platform within Franconia. I’m not going to move it now - as the temporal ordering would be out of sync.

Without a Diet or Tavern, that does leave Jan without any place where he can conduct snappy back and forth exchanges with Peter etc. But, as I said, there are arguments on both sides of the issue. With the cataclysm, when we are emphasising our avatar’s physical location more and the communication problems in general, snappy back and forth may be something best reserved for face to face meetings. We can use the IMS for longer, more substantial contributions. (If you are going to circulate something across the Reich in a time of chaos, it had better be something substantial enough to be worth circulating.)

Just to add onto Econ, this is a game and only just a game no need to flame each other. Be happy and just play.

Has anyone been able to download the save from the temp location?

I jump through a few hoops, and then I'm told the file can't be found.

I want to see if I can make some Byzzies bleed.

No Flemish Pikemen, TinCow? Bah, how decadent has Flanders become.

Is there any way to get Wolfgang married? I want him to create a Hummel dynasty, but the chances of him getting a wife are almost zero.

Psht, and I want to further Heinrich's legacy shouldn't just all depend on Elberhard alone eh?

I think this does highlight that a lot of us need a wife. Possibly IRL too

Nah, they all went to Dijon when it rebelled. At least, I think so.

@FH: Well, there have been some marriages recently, just not into important families. Incidentally, Dietrich looks forward to producing five or six little von Dassels in the coming years.

I tried to specifically point out that Bruges loved you and would be receptive to aiding you again in the future. There are various things that you could try within the borders of the provinces that could result in Flemish Pikemen recruits.

I have tried to show people that they will receive rewards both for being 'good' (treating people nicely and being honorable - see Wolfgang and Fredericus Erlach this turn) and being 'evil' (exploiting people and being a general jerk - see Fritz pretty much all the time). I am trying to keep good and evil rewards natural and in context without biasing one over the other.

One of my personal pet peeves with RPGs is their tendency to give more of a reward for being good than being evil. I think it should actually be the other way around. The reward for being good should simply be knowing that you have helped someone. People shouldn't be handing out powerful magic items that have been family heirlooms for generations for a simple FedEx quest (which they seem to do all the time). The evil method should be the only way to obtain a lot of this highly valuable loot. I'm trying to keep it more balanced than that in KOTR, but still make both avenues of RPing a viable and profitable method.

GH: Dijon is full os Swiss Pikemen, hence Warluster's wise decision not to assault. Can you imagine fighting those guys in narrow streets?

TC: That's ok, I'm sure Wolfgang will have plenty of time to revist the richest province in nortern Europe.

GH and TC, I have some IC PM's to send to you.

    FYI, to download from rapidshare:
    1) Click the button that says "Free"
    2) Wait until the timer counts down to 0, at which point the screen will change to show a series of letters and numbers. Enter them in the blank text box and click the download link next to the box.
    3) Enjoy.

Apologies for the poor system, feel free to upload to better systems if you know of them. I will switch the link to the Org Uploader as soon as it is fixed.
