KH generals are pretty good in melee
I've only ever lost one of the KH ones and that was a triple speed melee against the Getaic hordes that too like 2 minutes to resolve itself. I've had another flee from battle THROUGH a Getaic horde too .

Also, the Hai and Parthian generals stand well in battle due to their silly armor.
