Default Age of Empire meets Europa Barbarorum? :dizzy2:

Just thought I'd share this with you all, just recently found it (If it's been brought up before, please delete this post and BUMP the other one!).

    http://wildfiregames.com/0ad/

A game that, to me, looks like a hybrid between the RTS-nature of Age of Empires but with skins and models that looks like they're taken from EB (Positively meant). Haven't read too much about gameplay etc. but it definately looks cool in my eyes!

    Discuss!

Actually, the skins look like they were totally ripped-off from EB!!! Or they were just that well-darn-researched. Either way, it looks pretty!

I for one don't find it too be that historical at all. I lost interest after reading only a few lines about thier factions. Especially the Celts who are getting a bit of a RTW vanilla treatment.

I've been watching this one since early last year. I somehow doubt it'll ever see a publically playable form.

Really? Anthony became a member there in october, so I wouldn't think that would be happening. But then again he hasn't had much time for EB so probably not for 0AD either.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

Well they might be doing great work on things. But the guy who wrote the faction description on the website sure can't have been Anthony. Not only would it have been much longer.
I guess this might be a lot of remains from before Anthony. But If Anthony is going to help, I'm sure the Celts will indeed get the needed attention.
Too bad I don't like their faction system. Celts for example is a bit vague for a faction. And also a faction based on Greece+Makedonia is a bit wierd too.

The unit graphics looked good tough. Tough I noticed wardogs.

As long as they don't ride burning pigs while wearing Lorica Segmentata, it's all fine.

The Britons and Gauls are the antithesis of the rigid organisation of Rome. A fierce horde of woad-painted Celtic warriors charging across the plains was a fearsome sight. They considered the bow and other ranged arms to be a weapon of cowards, and excel in hand-to-hand combat.

    Slingers anyone?

There is reason enough for the Iosotae in EB. Really. They also seem to suggest that the Celts only lived in small wooden villages and only used wild charges without any organisation whatsoever.

Hasn't 0a.d been in development since the time of ancient Rome?

Javelins were used extensively and Caesar wrote about river crossings in Gaul while coming under fire from slingers and archers, but the lure of the woad-daubed berserker with his Hallstatt longsword seems to have been to strong to resist.

The early code was being carved into cave walls during the time of the cavemen also.

Can we please cut the spam? Making a joke is okay, but making the same joke 10 times in a row isn't.
    Let's stay on topic.

Javelins were used extensively and Caesar wrote about river crossings in Gaul while coming under fire from slingers and archers, but the lure of the woad-daubed berserker with his Hallstatt longsword seems to have been to strong to resist.
indeed. Caesar tells us, and many more sources tell us about it. For god sake the Gaesatae were even named after their spear throwing abilities. And those are supposed to be the cream, when it comes to bravery.
