Well, i've finished the Political map. I hope this is good enough to post in the Library, but if there's anything I can change let me know.

Gentlemen of the Order of St John,
I was reading through your house thread and I have to say I disagree with the stance on conducting battles ahead of time.
It was brought up a number of time in KotR and the consensus was that battles should not be "scouted" or played more than once. We have more than enough advantage without general's being able to see the battle field and "set up".
I'd like to therefore make that comment open to all for discussion.
IMO it's a hugely unfair advantage bordering on, and I'm nearly going to use the "ch" word here.![]()
Since the 24 hour move window will close at bed time for me, play won't continue until Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, depending on when I can find free time.

Yeah, I think I dropped the ball on that one. I simple wanted to give input into the coming battle, and with so much weighing upon it and little prior experience with SS, I decided to simulate the battle in an attempt at gauging possible strategy.
I don't think it is unfair what you have done. The tactics you have described apply to any sally battles and the things PK has discussed apply to any sieges where the forces are of similar size. I really don't see how that is cheating, so long as the battle isn't replayed in order to gain more favourable results I can't see anything wrong with playing around with the save.
I think planning strategies, and if you are knowledged, forecasting outcomes (read: do ingame tests) should work, but I would rp it. If you think your avatar would do that, go for it.
On the overall though, I dont like it.
Well my other strategy implored the usage of humor and bait, namely have the enemy chase after a handful of your forces while the rest ride in to the settlement and hold the the central square until time is up. Worked every time as the Turks.
