Well cat is out of the bag - I'm indeed Doyle, one of the main pro town characters in the original writeup at the beginning of the show. I am a recruiter for the Los Angeles town faction. My power is to recruit, but I can't tell who is recruitable and who is not. If I hit an unrecruitable, my identity is revealed. I gambled on the fact that if I hit an unrecruitable if it's another town faction they would look up my character and contact me privately instead of revealing me to the whole world.
Now Mr DcMort - which faction are you that makes you so unrecruitable to a townie? And why did you feel the need to sell me out rather than contact me privately?

That sounds legit and being exposed on recruit seems unlikely for a scum ability now that I think of it, don't believe dcmort's claiming of it makes him scum though, he could just keep quiet and kill you.

Since both Yaropolk and Dc agree that he is Doyle and Doyle is a good guy anyone who is not recruitable to the side of good is ether bad or neutral and until we know such things. I think Yaro is a bad choice under the new light.
We don't know how recruiting works yet.
I don't think unrecruitable scum who got caught would come into the thread acting like they caught someone themselves...
Being exposed after a failed recruiting is not necessarily Town. You weren't playing in Zelda on TWC but many of us were, and this game is one of the two inspirations for this one by Autolycus (with Lylat Wars). In Zelda, any failed attempt (Mafia, Cult or Town) would result in the recruiter being exposed to his target. However the anti-Town teams had scanning abilities to look for possible recruits.
It's a risk/reward thing: Do you recruit in the dark, or do you scan before attempting it? Makes more sense to scan first unless you're desperate.
However Yaro is very likely legit here because of the role he claimed, confirmed by dcmort: He's Doyle, from Angel Investigations, who would likely be part of the LA team. Could this be a cover role? If the rules are the same than Zelda: No. Real roles were always revealed upon a failed recruitment.
^This,
by Autolycus, makes it even more likely that recruiting for similar to Zelda. Conversions occuring before scanning, meaning that a scanner is sure to get a right scan result (unlike Zelda, I think, where scan results were happening before conversion, leading to some recruiters being exposed. I'm not 100% sure of this, but Renata, ATPG or another mafia members should confirm).
And I agree that dcmort should have looked up who Doyle is before reporting a failed recruiting attempt on him. If he's innocent, he's giving away an important role.

Cool. I guess the trend is to murder me first night instead of having everyone bandwagon me all the time.
Vote:dcmort He does have some explaining to do as to why he revealed an innocent person.
Mkay that's plenty of votes on the obviously innocent dcmort.
He's played this sort of game before, many, many times. If he were mafia, he wouldn't have made that mistake. This is a classic townie blunder.

I'll probably vote properly later.
While we need dcmort's role to be certain (as why the recruitment failed), it's a bit odd with a townie recruiter unless there's quite a bit of neutrals in this game. Doyle is admittably a strong pro-town role on the surface though.
That could be connected with no faction reveals at death, but no faction reveals might as well hide a lack of cover roles. And if this game lacks cover roles, I doubt we'll see roles like Drucilla (always evil vampire) in that case.
Going slighty meta, is Yaro known to use heavy bluffs as mafia?
We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

Meh, I won't weep and gnash my teeth if he gets lynched. He may not be scum, but you're exaggerating just a little when you say he's "obviously innocent." At best, his actions are WIFOM. That said, I agree that he's got enough votes on him; no need to push that wagon any further.

For those that don't know, Lindsey McDonald was a mixed bag in the show, sometimes working alongside Angel Investigations and at other times opposing them; Angel eventually had him killed because he was too much trouble. Possibly a neutral role recruitable by AI or their mafia counterparts, which are probably the Circle of the Black Thorn.
Riley Finn was Buffy's boyfriend in Season Four; a soldier who worked with the government-backed Initiative to investigate the supernatural activity in Sunnydale. More than likely a town role, probably had a Buffy-related personal goal.
I think now might be a good time for Sasaki to explain why he anointed you yesterday; he stated "wait and see" and now you're dead... what gives?
The opening post states that this is a high conversion game, though.
Think of Lylat Wars; not only could Andross convert mooks to his cause, but Star Wolf and Star Fox were also capable of drafting power roles into their ranks, such as Pigma or Katt.
