Heh, well, I was aware of such risks before, but despite my hesitation to give my details to Sony (which was mostly because they said they would round everything up to multiples of 5€, meaning I'd usually give them some more money than I'd actually have to pay, even if the rest would stay for the next purchase), I didn't expect their security to be so lax.
Then again my address is also in the phonebook, so hacking Sony's network to get it seems like overkill.

And oh, now I got to keep an eye on my credit card info. I sincerely hope they offer something tangible in return for these troubles, downtime is one thing, but having personal information and especially credit card information stolen is a damn big nono. A one or two year free membership for Playstation Plus or a coupon to buy PS3 games (preferably not from PS Store since it has a damn limited selection compared to most retail stores).

Well block the creditcard. That is all really

No Class Action if the PSN terms & conditions require individual arbitration. At least in the USA.

Sony is going to be lucky if they are ever allowed to process credit cards again.
    http://consumerist.com/2011/05/secur...sn-breach.html
According to Spafford, security experts monitoring open Internet forums learned months ago that Sony was using outdated versions of the Apache Web server software, which "was unpatched and had no firewall installed." The issue was "reported in an open forum monitored by Sony employees" two to three months prior to the recent security breaches, said Spafford.
    Definitely not PCI DSS compliant.

They say another attack on the network is already planned and hackers supposedly still have access to it, so that may explain why it's still not up.
It's really nice of those hackers to stand up for everybody's linux enjoyment on the PS3, no? Heroes of the people!

Well Linux functionality was really nice, so was the promised backward compability THE XBOX DOESN'T HAVE. But because it's Sony you get only a fraction of whatever WILL FOREVER CHANGE HOW WE THINK ABOUT whatever. Screw Sony, pity I need a playstation to play the best exclusives otherwise I would absolutely buy a 360.

Even though I do prefer PS3, I have to admit, Fragony, that Xbox exclusives as a whole are better. Gears of War, Halo, can't think of others ATM but they tend to be better, and American games. Whereas PS3 exclusives, with the huge exceptions of God of War, Killzone, and Demons Souls, tend to be crappy Japanese junk. Not that I dislike the japanese for anything, but the general kind of game produced by them tends to be more geared for anime fans, of which I gladly say I am not.

Than why prefer the PS3 the 360 version is almost always better.Depends on what you like I guess, you just have a broader reach as the best xbox titles are playable on pc as well. These obscure Japanese titles are hit and miss, but they are all exclusive to ps3 because Sony owns these studio's. I would absolutely buy a ps3 for the upcomming Team Ico game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHzHoMT5eRg (games you mention justify a purchage as well), but I don't need an xbox to play Halo or Gears

According to the PSN blog the relaunch will be even further delayed, on to the 3 weeks then *sigh*.
Also, Sony stocks fell with 6.75% since the outage, karma is a ***** I guess, I'm going to laugh at monday when stock markets around the world reopen.

Gears 3 and Halo 3+onwards are xbox only. I actually have halo 1 and 2 on pc :P.

and i prefer ps3 because first, most of my friends play ps3.
    second, graphics are better.
    third, PSN is free.
fourth, the interface is (for me) simpler.
fifth, they dont seem as money-hungry as microsoft. MS points seem deceptive to me, whereas PSN money is 20 bucks for 20 bucks. so you know exactly how much youre paying, you dont have to pay with points for downloads while you dont know how much you're really spending.

So I don't think I'll ever let Sony have my personal info. It's like they didn't even care.

Also - MS points are designed to nickel and dime you, since you can (IIRC) only buy certain quantities of points, and not the exact quantity you need to purchase something.

As far as sony knows, I live 1400 miles away...my cousin sucks anyways.

I prefer the playstation. I just dont like having to pay to play a game online, especially considering that first person shooters (the games I tend to play the most on consoles) nowadays are pretty much worthless without multiplayer. Exclusives? Bah. I like the japanese crap that everybody seems to hate and I have a computer.
