I do not understand why they would want to wear such clothing in the current elevated risk environment. It isn't religiously mandated, so why make the other passengers uncomfortable?

Who assumed that? Everyone is obliged to alter their behavior to a certain extent when traveling by air these days. There are a lot of things I wear in everyday life that I might not choose to wear when getting on an airplane, like shoes with laces.![]()
