Thread: Capo di Tutti Capi IV [Concluded]

On the one hand, it's obviously Sigurd's doing. On the other, I don't understand why he left a clue in-thread.

I pretty much missed this thread today, so I'll vote: Present. I am uneducated to form a proper lynch vote today, but still want to be annoying to tally makers while I comply to the game rules :) (as opposed to voting abstain).

Much better. I would rather not lynch MRD if we can avoid it, there seems to be no reason apart from a criminal scan.

TinCow has made a concise and convincing case on Sigurd, and I'd say it's better to cut off the head of the snake rather than go after Populus the Proletariat at the moment.

Based on votes since last tally, I think Sigurd now has enough of a lead to require votes on someone else to keep the possibility of a multiple.
I'll vote: Chaotix to tip it back toward balance a little.

Though to be honest, I'm thinking someone is getting framed, and I have no idea which one. My guess is either the original PM is originally fake and a trap for the one who posts it, or modified but it can't be rebutted without revealing something else damaging.

The 3 day wait to identify folks after death is going to make things really interesting. And then there's all those posts to dig through to figure out which ones are evidential and which are meaningless fluff. Is there a way to download a whole thread on this forum? I know how to do it on CFC but not here. Might be interesting to do some offline analysis once it's in one big text file. Also can you pull up #posts by user and filter by user that way?

There isn't a way to download the entire thread (that I know of), but you can check a user's posts in a particular thread from the parent forum (in this case, the Gameroom) by clicking on the number of replies the thread has. A new window should come up listing everyone who's posted in the thread and the number of posts they've made. Click on the number of posts they've made and voila. You have to do it while online though.

You can by subscription actually. Just have it email you with daily updates. You'll get one big email that you can copy and paste into a text file.

Why are people voting for Sigurd? Some stupid he's a communist ploy?

I mean, at least I can understand people are voting for MRD... He's different! Not a member of the herd! Quick lynch him before he makes us look foolish!

For the record, we're not voting Sigurd because he's a communist.

We're voting him because he isn't a communist and this is obviously some sort of cover for something else, possible sinister.

So what I quoted from Sasaki? Aka: "He's done it before, and he'll do it again."

Ok. At least I can understand the "logic" there.

Well, a more complete summary of the case would be:

A fabricated KGB role PM was sent with an image taken from his photobucket account and he posted in-thread about recruiting for the KGB.

My theory is that Sigurd sent the PM to Populus Romanus who fell for it and signed up, or rather, assumed he'd been recruited. What doesn't add up is: 1) why Sigurd would post in-thread about it - maybe he didn't think it'd get out in the open so soon but that throwaway comment seems pretty stupid in hindsight.
    2) Why Populus Romanus took credit/blame for forging the role PM - perhaps he thought he should sacrifice himself for his leader but it would have been easier for him to defect back, so to speak. He's still a townie doctor after all...

Second, I do not believe Sigurd would invent a communist faction, complete with images and role PMs, just for the lulz. He's done it for a very specific purpose. Personally, I'd wager it's an attempt to disguise an entire mafia family as a neutral faction. If you're going to lynch anyone over this thing, you should lynch Sigurd.
    Best argument in the thread...

I still need volunteers for vig work tonight. PM only, I'd like to have enough people signed up a couple of hours after the phase ends so everybody can get their orders in on time.

About the communist request: I got a pm from Seamus where he said the commies wanted to recruit me and I could accept or refuse. If I accepted I would get the recruiters name, if I refused nothing. That how it works.

Edit: They can't kill me for telling, can they?
