    Default Prometheus

    I love you, Ridley Scott.

The other viral trailers are cool, but this one is the best.

    No idea.

One thing I'm certain about is that we haven't cracked that whole M theory thing. Strange that it was mentioned.

Maybe Peter isn't much of a technical guy, he comes across as more of a eviler Steve Jobs type.

I'm hoping Scott is making this as suspense/horror film like the first, the action in the second film made it entertaining but emptier. The official trailer has that feel, but trailers can be deceiving. Big things have small beginnings.

The Imax trailer has some different footage, and sound editing to die for. Happy to admit that I have unrealistically high expectations for this film ...

Hmm the choice of the term Promethus I believe will have a bit of slant on the movie, I bet they take summit they shouldnt from the space jockeys.

The facehugger "eggs" look manufactured, not laid, and the facehugger itself looks quite different. I wonder if this is the Mark I/Mod 0 version of the alien, or just the result of space jockey infestations.

there is some belief it's a space jockey thing that we mess with or have stolen.

If I remember correctly the cannon for the whole series is that the aliens take some of there structure/form from the host species therefore since we have only seen them infect mammals it folows the space jockey ones might be differ.

Alien 0. Since it's Ridley Scott directing, it should be a lot more like the first movie that the others.

That's the way it has been portrayed in the existing movies. But in Alien, the space jockey was the host and the eggs/facehuggers were more organic looking. I'm thinking the ones in Prometheus are either the original (bioengineered by the space jockey race) or the jockeys got them from yet another infected race.

Still, sucks. Years ago the two Mars movies weren't very interesting and this is yet another Hollywood recycle. I really hoped this could help inspire people and rekindle the interest in exploration and not just serve as mindless entertainment. Maybe the Prussian robot should have told me differently.

Maybe, but there are lots of ways to spin the myth in the context of the movie.
    • Obvious, men are men, Prometheus (the ship) is Prometheus, the space jockeys are Zeus, the alien is either fire, or Pandora in retribution for something else being taken.
    • Men are men, Prometheus (the ship) is Prometheus, the space jockeys are Zeus, the alien is fire taken from the ancient civilizations. In the myth, man had fire before Zeus took it away.
    • Men are men, the alien is fire, the space jockeys are Prometheus and will have their livers eaten (or chests burst) for giving man the gift.
    • Men are men, the alien is Pandora, the space jockeys are Zeus, David is Prometheus, fire is whatever that globe-thingy is.
    • My favorite, men are Pandora, the space jockeys are men, the alien is Zeus.

You got a problem with bow-wielding medieval gladiators?

The guy's obviously talented... Alien, Blade Runner, Black Hawk Down. A lot of people hate Gladiator but I thought it was a great movie. It may have been fantasy but it told a very well crafted story. It seems, though, that after Black Hawk Down he lost that special ability really good directors have at putting story elements together in a compelling way. Kingdom of Heaven could have been great, even with Orlando Bloom, but it felt disjointed and crammed into what seemed like a 3 hour screening time. American Gangster, too, felt like Scott bit off more content than he could sew together. There were lots of good bits and pieces in both movies, but they did not flow together in a coherent fashion. Robin Hood was just a bag of crap. I simply fear that Scott, like so many directors before him that have grown fat and happy on previous successes, is on a downward trend.

I believe James Cameron did Aliens (Alien 2).

Or how little action of any of description takes place.

And how long it takes before the audience is introduced to the creature.

That's what I loved about it though. The mystery and the delayed gratification. It has a more classic feel.

Alien was intended as a suspense/horror movie. Cameron turned the series to the action genre with Aliens. Don't get me wrong, Aliens is a fun flick, but I preferred the first.

Hohoho, ALien was more of an ode to the classics of the fifties, ALiens on the other hand was a thing of it's own. For the time it was much more groundbreaking than the original, anyone who was born 2 years before the original can tell you that
