Chapter 23. When the Sky Dips Beneath

Day of Departure, Spring 1549

Nagao Kagetora, Nagao Masakage, ashigaru and samurai captains such as Kakizaki Kageie, along with Ninja Naoaki, nun Rizenji Munechika, and three thousand soldiers of Echigo, boarded a large fleet in port Naoetsu. They are heading southwest, all the way to Kyushu. For many, they have never been so far away from home.

So who is in charge of Kasugayama Castle? It was Kagetora's uncle, Nagao Kagenobu. Echigo has enjoyed more than a year of total peace - all Kagenobu needs to do is to keep his Portugese wife Minato happy, and remember to feed Ashina Yaya's plants.

Every thing seems wonderful. People are full of hopes.
But what they do not know is that they have been watched. Someone in the Shinano mountains has kept a close eye on Echigo.
