I think this is a good place to start
bonjour
i'm doing a reread and taking it slow, but i will be lurk-refreshing this page every now and then
Here's a new post for the lurk refresher. Full of content. Like:
Cats. Cats are awesome.
I like chocolate chip cookies.
I am sure these facts will help elucidate my alignment.
(Pssst. What do you think of Visor atm.)
fun fact that may or may not be related to Visor though, I just had a very uninspiring meeting with my accounting pal. somebody kills pls
"Les plus désespérés sont les chants les plus beaux, et j'en sais d'immortels qui sont de purs sanglots." Alfred de Musset
do you think that's an acceptable standard for being a villager?
not trying to be the fun police, but. i'd like to not ml you if it's within my power to do so, but i'm not gonna like. sit here and imagine you're town for the memes
Yes. Because you can read me off my reads and how I interact with flips and wagons.
I don't really have a way to make myself town on d1 because even if I tryhard I've done that as wolf too. So really I'd rather have fun and you can work out how to read me at your own pace.
If you think everyone should be readable on d1 then I am not gonna agree with you.
oh also, my read on syn has shifted more towards something like
nobody knows what the fuck he's saying and he seems to be living in his own world, which suggests he is probably uninformed
this is not a read i will carry into day 2, because i'm not getting any sense of town motivation from him
the math ain't mathing, unless you're joking. or just talking about day 1
if out of all the posts you've made so far, zero of them will help me read you, what am i to do? cross my fingers and make it a future problem? why shouldn't everyone be readable day 1? i'm not asking for "locked and never rescinding" levels of towniness from you
imo, town would have a higher success rate if they put in the work to readable day 1. it's the most important day in the game, why waste it?
Vaimes feels like baby me with a cooler avatar. fr (nowadays, I don't get upset about potatoes anymore, I just bake them)
thoughts about Cuth/Maple/Wisdom?
"Les plus désespérés sont les chants les plus beaux, et j'en sais d'immortels qui sont de purs sanglots." Alfred de Musset
eh, i'm not gonna let a differing opinion/playstyle tilt me. i'm just curious about his approach to the game
my homesite was kiiind of anal about optimal play, so :V it was beaten into me from the get-go
i would kill all three of them (in the order of Cuth > Maple > Wisdom) and feel nothing. so far in my reread (starting page 7) they have no redeeming qualities. nothing i like or want to defend. wisdom is the most ~okay out of the three but i like her less on a second pass
i can't thank posts apparently? or at least it doesn't show up on my screen, and the button looks unclicked when i refresh
vaimes thanks the rask post
even though i'm on page 7, i highly suspect visor hasn't posted since before then and i will come away from this with 0 read on him
i remember asking him a question about a contradiction i saw and i'm betting it's still sitting there collecting dust
refresh and the button migh appear.
I think Id puth Cuth a bit above the other two but for surface level notes only (they feel laid back or something) but I will reread them and Wisdom. Just did Maple and yeah plain null.
I am curious what pinged them though about waza. @Maple

If you're a good wolf, and can copy your town game near perfectly in terms of tone, how do you make yourself readable D1? If you can make yourself readable as town on D1, how do you stop yourself getting caught as wolf on D1 in games you're not town?
I am a huge huge proponent of "You can read anyone on D1". I used to spend a lot of D1 poking people and asking questions to follow their thought train.
But here's the thing. Good wolves are not going to be easy to catch with no info. Town can find each other, but in terms of "This is a post that is towny" I don't think posts that are integrally towny exist. People who I know well have absolutely called me town on D1 correctly. But it's less because I made a post that was specifically towny and more because of an interaction or a call or a read back and forth where we caught sight of how the other was reading the game and it made sense for the other person's town perspective.
Any post that inherently can help you find me town or is readable as town on D1 is replicable as wolf to fool people who think a single post or type of post makes them town.
I'd throw the question back to you:
How do town make themselves readable on D1 without doing things they can copy as wolf? What's your formula for doing so?
So let me re-phrase my response:
I am potentially readable on D1. But the moment I can point out a post to you and tell you why you should town read it is the moment I can copy that exact thing as wolf. Therefore I don't want to play into that game of "trust me bro". Because it's dumb.
This is the same route of thinking that I don't like self-defense arguments. I like talking people I sus through things, but I prefer to talk to them about OTHER slots because talking about themselves devolves into "trust me bro".
---
I'm getting lost here. Simple maths:
Everyone can be read on D1. But "making themselves more readable" intentionally can always be faked as wolf if the player is good enough, and the moment a player you're talking to can tell you why they should be townread or what posts you should townread them off it's something they can copy as wolf.
"Trust tells" are also something I hate and shouldn't exist because the whole point of the game is to try and forge information out of unsurety and the moment someone has a guarantee of alignment it mars the maths.
(Could I be more active and investigative? Sure. People would like that. I got townread a lot off that.
But I also did it as wolf and it was more effort as either alignment.)
Anyway. This is an old codger rant from someone who has been playing this silly internet game for near 2 decades.
waza is 100% town. i have no hesitations there. i don't see myself touching that read again. i will kiss him in the masonry and immediately get down on one knee
prepare the post-game egg-to-face if i'm wrong
It's also 1:30am so I apologise if that is mildly incomprehensible.
I can't believe people are stealing my Waza read.
not sure laid back is the good word for Cuth posts. just their few content posts look like self rambling, not posted to convince anyone. Somthing I like actually lol
but the timing is still weird (hally posts a tr on Cuth which prompts a question from Vaimes, which prompts a post from Cape, then Cuth pops in to suss Cape lol)
"Les plus désespérés sont les chants les plus beaux, et j'en sais d'immortels qui sont de purs sanglots." Alfred de Musset
i appreciate the late-night effort
i'm on the side of reading people based on how they think, rather than any specific post. because faking posts is easy, but faking thought processes is more difficult and definitely more effort *if you're a wolf* and not for a villager, because it is by definition towny to approach the game from a town mindset. villagers don't have a choice to be organic
good wolves can get fucked over by other villagers just being themselves too organically. if too many people are 100% villagers, then you turn your attention to the 99% and under crowd, even if it's omega feelsbad killing someone who seems that towny
i wouldn't take someone's self-evaluation of their own posts as gospel, or even credible
anyway this is fun theorytalk but i get your point. i just get annoyed when someone's entire iso is shitposting. it makes me feel crazy and like i'm being asked to solve a slot blindfolded and i'm a bad player if i can't do it
i think i'm just too much of a tryhard
"Les plus désespérés sont les chants les plus beaux, et j'en sais d'immortels qui sont de purs sanglots." Alfred de Musset
i can do that
if you could kill someone right now whose flip would help you get a better grip on the game, and the day keeps going as normal, who would it be?
