Thanks very much. Unfortunately I always get bored a few turns into a KH campaign as I feel such an alliance would crumble when it got powerful. I suppose you could RP a civil war and wipe out the other ethnicities...

A simple solution: give up Rhodes and Athens, spawn a single unit of Spartan hoplites, and use it to take over Greece. You are allowed as many mercenaries as you can afford and all the psiloi and peltast types, but no hoplites or non-merc cavalry.

You'd get wiped out immediately. I kept Rhodes and Athens and pump out hoplites as often as i can, it still took me 20 years to create any kind of decent income overall and well over 10 major defeats before i started making progress.

Small progress at that... I took Mytilene. Overall i'm still getting nowhere fast.

Well, that is what would happen historically - that was the point I was making by posting that.

Spartan AARs = "THIS IS SPARTA YARRRRGHH - dead".

    I'd enjoy another one, though.

Well, he could roleplay the Seleukidai gifting money to Sparte (console commands) to fund a war that would end up in Sparte emerging Hegemon of Hellas (something the Seleukidai didn't count for).

Now that would be really interresting - and then the Spartans would try to conquer the whole of Alexander Empire to show that Spartans can always do better
or.. an Anabasis with Leonidas the second
“Save us, o Lord, from the arrows of the Magyars.” - A prayer from the 10th century.
