Seriously, our cephalopod overlords might, just might, tolerate ape men inhabiting the less desirable parts of the planet. What sort of puny organism wants to live under less than 5 tonnes pressure per square inch anyway? But when they start acidifying the oceans? No way baby. Here's the deal:

The squid may start to hunt different fish species, especially in shallower water where oxygen levels may be higher

We'll leave it to the polar bears to figure out how to make solar activity stop causing the other 95%.

I guess solar activity is responsible for at least 95% of our planet's excess temperature over deep space. Unfortunately its the 5% that's the problem.
