Not exactly the best example for use in this thread.

Life between 13-17 pretty much sucks. Hormones raging, plus the control issues with parents. Sounds to me like you spend waaaaaay too much time at home, since you say you go to school online. It's tough to do at 13, but you need time away from the parental units. Maybe volunteer at your church or shelters. Get out of the house as much as possible.

Well, I myself have never felt as you describe, but I can still only encourage you to hang in there. I don't really have a lot of friends, I've never had, I've never wanted to have. Of course people who are more social than myself will still find a lack of friends difficult, but just so you know that friends aren't absolutely necessary to enjoy life.

Try to find something that can get you through. Music, or a good, hilarious book. I've never been suicidal myself, but if I was, I bet Douglas Adams could get me through it.

Also, I know how crappy advice this might seem, but do try to talk about your problems with someone. If you are absolutely certain your parents won't listen, then at least someone at school. Heck, even someone at the local grocery store that you trust is better than no one. They will help you, if you just let them.

If you really feel cramped inside your home, why not take a walk? I don't know where you live, but a long walk in the woods always cheers me up and I know a lot of people who says it helps when they're down. Don't be afraid to try new things, you have a pretty unorthodox problem, unorthodox solutions may be required.

And well, probably a bit stupid this, but the one time I was really down, this song actually helped me a lot.

I don't come here a lot any more. You know why? Because you suck. That's right, I'm talking to you. Your annoying attitude, bad grammar, illogical arguments, false beliefs and pathetic attempts at humour have driven me and many other nice people from this forum. You should feel ashamed. Report here at once to recieve your punishment. Scumbag.

    Congratulations dude.

Anyway, from this thread responses, seems you're not as unpopular as you might think.
Everyone goes through what you've been through, just some have it to a lesser degree. You just need to pull through. Once you're out, the grass gets a lot greener.

    Well done!

A note to all Orgahs who wish to post in this thread—being disrespectful and/or challenging to a person who has publicly stated that he wants to kill himself is:
    1. Bad manners
    2. Thoughtless
    3. Irresponsible
    4. Inappropriate
    5. Unbelievably stupid
    6. Tacky
    7. Dangerous
    8. Potentially criminal

I have already handed out more warnings in one 24-hour cycle than I like to give in the average month. Think before you type, and think again before you hit "submit."

Yes, people really do hurt themselves, and yes, they do it on teh internets.

I am honored and humbled by how many Orgahs have posted thoughtful, careful responses to John-117's problems. The few who could not manage enough common sense, common decency or common courtesy to avoid baiting a potential suicide have stood out that much more starkly in contrast with their peers.

If you cannot resist the urge to post a challenge or a snark at John-117's issues, be aware that I will be handing out warning points and bans as though they were on sale. Be mindful and thoughtful, or stay out of this subject.

This is really good news. By the way your frustration is experienced by many people at the age you are at, myself included, and the good news is that life does change and things do turn about.

From where you stand you cannot perhaps see this, but you will later on. Just wait until you start taking your life in your own hands and things will turn out much better and differently than you think now.

I'm already raising my son to be a terrible geek. I bought him some Roman action figures, and told him who they were. You know how little kids are; they can learn things faster than you can speak them.

He freaked out an adult who looked at the toys by saying, "This is a centurion. That's just a legionary. This is Caesar." He's five, mind you.

    I am a terrible father.

Actually pedagogically speaking the age between 3 and 8 is the best to start something - this is how these girls become World Class Professional Chess players... Their father Lazlo Polgar made a living experiment out of them in proving that *geniuses are made and not born*. This isnt exactly as it sounds, because Mr Polgar was smart enough to look for the predispositions in his daugters and when he noticed the elder one being interested in chess at an early age he made his house a full chess club (in which RFischer was often invited while in Budapest).

This has also long been observed in martial arts - the kids of headinstructors that get black belts at 12 can never be reached by other people usually.

dude, i wish you were my dad, i love that kind of stuff! if you seriously think that makes you a bad dad you are mistaken, if anything it makes you better for teaching your child something useful tat he can use in the future.

John. Im glad to see that you did nothing you could not regret ever as death is a final solution to a temporary problem like Don said in his post before. If you die. You can never taste anymore your favourite foods. You cant enjoy a lazy weekend morning or do anything you like. Death prevents you from doing anything, while life gives you opportunities to do anything you want eventually in certain limits.

It seems that you are a smart young man and there are many things for you in the future that life can offer to you. School can be a drag specially if you feel that most of lessons are too easy. But if you look at that from another point of view, that shows that you are smart. So basically you can achieve good results with less effort then many. You should use that gift to your benefit and educate yourself so that adulthood wont become a struggle for you and that you can get things you want. Taking care of school is for you like investing to your future.

We are social species and if you feel lonely, best way to find friends is to look out for people who have same interests then you have. With such people. You have already something in common, so making friends should be more easy. If and when a bad moment comes, when you feel desperate. Think of the little nice things. From those little things happines is constructed. Thinking of large and complicated issues usually just makes you depressed. Sometimes in my own life i have not had anything else to be happy about then the scent in the air after it has rained. But that was enough for me at that moment.

Life is like a house built of bricks. You cant make it complete without masoning each brick one at the time. Best of luck to you.

Yup, I got him the centurion, the legionary, Caesar and a gladiator. The centurion is the toughest, or so my five-year-old thinks, so he stands guard by the bed while my boy sleeps. He can beat up any monsters. We talked about this.

I live in Wisconsin, but that doesn't mean anything, since I bought the toys off Amazon.

Please do; the boyfriend of a very close friend of mine commited suicide, and she and her best friend are virtually psychological wrecks at this moment (the suicide being about three months ago). People have no idea of what horrible feelings they'll leave to those that they leave behind, even if they are in a state in which they think that know what the consequences of their actions will be. Suicide is a horrible thing and it will leave enormous mental damage to those left behind.

Don't be afraid to make contact with people. I've had a deep interest in Japanese culture for some time now, and I decided to go and practice both Kyudo [Japanese archery] and Kendo [Japanese fencing]. Social contacts are really, really important.

You need to teach him to say "No, I'm Spartacus" when he plays with the gladiator.

I'm glad you didn't do anything rash. I know school and the teenage years can be brutal (I was there not too long ago), but trust me, even though adults may not always show it, things do get better; and there are people out there that care about you.

Right on, bro! I wrote a long story once, and I'll give you some advice: if you happen to come across writer's block, get an energy drink, put on some gym clothes, and go for an insane jog. It always worked for me; by the time I get home, I'd be so exhausted and would fall asleep. The dreams would inspire me into a nice writing session when I wake up.

i have a pretty good idea of what i am writing about. ive already done the first chapter, and am working on the second. i cant post it until next week though, its on my other computer. look up "operation uranus" on wikpedia, and find the one on stalingrad. i kno its not the same name, but i doubt anyone would read a story titled "uranus", and saturn was another stalingrad operation...so....hence the name

    Hmm.. a story about Stalingrad?

What is it about? Uranus was a tank operation, so I presume it is about tankers?

Or is it something else entirely?

Cool store, bro! I want some ham.
    No ham, pepsi.
They make deli slices of frozen pepsi now? Awesome!
You also need to purchase a small freezer for storage of your pepsi.
It runs on batteries. You'll need a few.
Uhh, I guess I won't have pepsi then. Do you have change for a twenty?
You can sift through the penny jar
