      The Ptolemaic linage has long lost power over Aegyptos. Losing the war against Pontos and the sacking of Lower Aegyptos and the Levant by Roman armies made the army try a coup. It succeeded. Two Pharaos of the Peleusias family followed, but military succes did not come again. Thus the army decided to pick another Pharao.
