Played against any Mexicans yet? You will need to learn the nuances of gringo ball to defeat them, young grasshopper.

Indoor is great. You need to think fast and make quick decisions with the ball. It wears you out faster since you are always involved in the play and there are more direction changes.

There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

Yep, he's a yankee all right.

Actually, in all seriousness I have no problem with Football. I just think it's kind of a wimpy sport when compared with, say, Rugby.

I can't think of many sports that aren't wimpy compared to rugby.

For those who don't read LEN's footballodium:

    Yanks stun world soccer.

The United States will contest the Confederations Cup final after causing a huge upset in Bloemfontein tonight by inflicting a first defeat on Spain since 2006.

Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey scored the goals as underdogs USA, having lost their opening two games in the tournament and only squeezed through Group B by the skin of their teeth, set up a final showdown against either Brazil or hosts South Africa on Sunday.

The result was one of the biggest shocks in recent international history, with the all-conquering Spanish having broken the record for consecutive wins with their 15th on the trot against South Africa at the weekend.

The European champions would also have claimed the record for the longest unbeaten run if they had avoided defeat tonight, having drawn level with Brazil's run of 35 in that South Africa match.
Even the 86th-minute dismissal of Michael Bradley - son of coach Bob - could not deny the USA, who were left to celebrate a famous victory.

The normal phrase is that "Football is a gentleman's gameplayed by hooligans, whiilst Rugby is a hooligan's game played by gentlemen.

Yet hockey gets no mention, and is even less popular than golf! This os shocking, mainly because golf is dead boring effort. (Ironically, I have an excellent drive because of my hockey). The true type of hockey, Field Hockey.

And Rugby more violent than most other sports... even its sibling American Football is slightly less violent. Yet it's estranged cousin twice removed, Australian Football is crazy! and god love the australians for it. Then there's ice hcokey. I think only the americans could consider field hockey dull enough to put it on ice and make it more violent. Still a good game. What about dodgeball? or shin kicking? or UFC or all these obscure activities that count as sports?

There's an olde form of football that's still played yearly between two villages in England, that's more of a cultural event than a sport. The playing area is a mile or so of ground between the two villages, streets, streams and gullies included. The ball is released in the middle, then follows a general scrum around the ball, with the very occasional break away. The game lasts from sunrise to sunset IIRC, and seldom are any goals actually scored by getting the ball to the opponent's home area.

I have been playing indoor recently, its paticularly tiring when you have one extra one the one side as you have to constantly run to make up for the missing player. Because i hadn't played for a while it took a bit of time to get into it but im back into my stride now... i just love scoring as well...

Glad we have a convert STFS, its a brilliant game.
