End Day Three...

The recent and sudden spat of deaths had sent the mining crew of the rig had sent them into a frenzy that day to find the killer amongst them. Guilt was thrown around like a cheap wine, but throughout the supposed "discussion" there was an underlying current of agreement - Akakios was guilty.

He tried to explain, he tried to reason, he tried to ask why they were choosing him of all people, yet no reply came except everyone felt it was best.

"Don't worry Akakios, the cells are pretty decent - and it will only be until we figure out who's actually doing the killings if it's not you."

Akakios, already tired of trying to shrug off the blame, decided to give in, and he was summarily handcuffed and escorted off the bridge. As everyone settled around to hear further instructions from the Foreman, a shot rang out - Benedict Fawkes held a gun in his hand and had tried to kill the Foreman, who was saved only by the tears streaming down Benedicts face and the shaking of his hand.

"Yooouuu let Serik die! It's your fault there is even a saboteur aboard! It's you who hires everyone, you who has our fat files sitting comfortably on his shelf! You should have known one of us could have killed, that one of us was mad! You should have done something instead of holding this farce of justice! It's not that you want to find the Sabotuer, it's that you want all the profit for yourself! Isn't it! I bet your the one killing us off!"

The other crew members slowly took a step back, but John Jenkins took a step forward. He had faced down countless other soldiers, was a veteran of nearly 20 campaigns, had seen some of the most horrific things man could inflict upon another, and yet the one thing he always had to summon courage for was to talk a soldier out of blind, agonizing rage and vengeance. This was no different.

"Son, give me the gun, please."
"No! Not until he answers for his crimes!"
"He will, if he is found guilty, but killing him isn't going to solve it, and it won't bring Serik back."
"I don't care! Damn this universe and everything in it! Damn it to hell for taking everything away from me!
"Son, come on now - not everything is gone, you still got yourself and still got your life ahead of you...please, give me the gun."
"You, your right, I still have a whole life ahead of me...a painful misery filled life with nothing but loneliness to accompany me!"

Serik pulled the gun up to his head and Jenkins heart beat picked up.

"Now son, but it down, no need to go and do that."
"No."
"Please, put the gun down, this isn't going to solve anything."
"Like your willingness to protect a murder is going to solve anything?"
"Now hang on, if you want to see justice done, your going to have to keep living."
"I don't care about living - just as you don't care about what is right"

Jenkins had been steadily inching forward to Benedict, and it was then that he leaped forward and tackled him to the ground, trying to wrestle the weapon from Benedict. A shot rang out, and Jenkins pulled away, a bullet in his gut. Benedict's hand and face, now covered in blood, shook from shock, his eyes empty.

"No...no...Noooooo!" Before anyone could do anything, Benedict brought the gun up to his head and pulled the trigger, splattering his brains across the rest in the room and the compartment.

The Foreman had seemed unfazed throughout the whole ordeal and was quick to call the medic up to take care of Jenkins. Turning to the crowd, he said with grim faced determination, "It appears the situation is more dire then I had thought - I am canceling rest today until we find our killer. I suggest you start discussing again - once you have come to a conclusion, I will release you."

Begin Day Four

Atheotes has been lynched, and Tratorix has committed suicide.

End Day Four...

Most people had remained silent, almost as if they wanted to be anywhere but near the Foreman, who seemed to be brooding, his steely gaze glancing upon each in turn in the room. Hours passed with little discussion, and many started to succumb to exhaustion.

Finally, the Foreman called in each for their votes. "As you usual, please place your vote in the hat, and it will be counted by an impartial party." Someone grunted with a bit of laughter in the background. The Foreman looked up sharply, fire in his eyes. "Who dares to subvert my authority..answer me, NOW! Who among you dares mock me!"

When no one answered, the Foremans rage finally billowed over, and he threw the hat to the ground, disregarding the votes, and picking Colbert Danielsson from amongst the crowd. "You...you dare to question my authority?"

Colbert Danielsson simply giggled. "Whatever, you ECD bastard, what are you going to do, lock me up, put me in front of a firing squad? Eject me into space? Ha, you can do nothing to me anymore, nothing at all..."

The Foreman smacked Colbert upside the face. "I've heard enough of you - Jenkins, put this man in chains and make sure he enjoys his stay in the brig."

As Colbert was carried away, he laughter could be heard, mocking the crew as he went to his fate. As the crew returned to their quarters for the night, someone reported a smell coming from Nevio Ratti's room. Upon investigation, his body was found, and had started to decompose, having died several days ago.
