No, it doesn't work. Libian general hasn't got his image at all and the baktrian only on his statistics page but not in the pool.

Hi - I'm playing EB 1.2 with the Alexander Engine (but not the mod) and i can't see any trade fleets or caravans moving about at all in it - this is dozens of turns into the game with lots of ports, roads and markets built. Also the AI seems very passive so far. Is this all normal or is there something wrong with my installation?
Also when i built client state in one city - which in EB usually gets you a client ruler - there was no client ruler. It changed the Carthaginian family member i had there into the client ruler instead. I can build Greek mercenary general there, but when i did he was a Carthaginian, which will be confusing later.
And city wall upgrades that normally get you extra happiness in EB don't seem to know.
Does any of EB work with the Alx engine?
(I have trivial script installed - should i uninstall it?)
In fact it's changed all of my family members governing cities into client rulers now - even the ones in Homeland provinces, including my faction leader in Carthage - and i didnt build any new government for any city except Syracuse

No. EB can be played just fine on alex.exe.
In answer to your last three posts:

If everything works as it should, here's what should happen:
- Build a type 4 government
- If you have a FM (easily recognizeable by the "Family Member" trait) in the town, you should get the "Interloper" trait that causes unrest in your new allied state. Not smart, remove the FM from the allied state.
- The type 4 government allows you to recruit a general type unit; recruit one and leave him in the town. Congratulations, you've just got yourself a client ruler. Note that client rulers can only govern allied states (type 4 governments; with any other government they get negative trait that cause unrest, etc).
Sadly while the bodyguard of the recruited general will be region specific, the portrait, name and traits he gets are tied to the your faction.

Eh? How is a unitpicture not showing up caused by the DMB, or the limit on the EDU?
Unless I'm missing something here, the game just check the dictionary line in the EDU and then looks for a file called "#<dictionary line>.tga" in the faction folder under UI/Units folder and one called "<dictionary line>_info.tga" in the same folder under UI/Unit_info folder.
As long as the picture is there, with the right name, in the right folder; the picture should show up.

its because of the general_unit status, and general_unit upgrade and coz same unit is used for few types for cavarly, I have checked it.. tho dont have time to mod atm, i would need to add 1 more description in EDU to make UI show up with np

Hrm, honestly that still doesn't make any sense to me.
The entries in the DMB and the general_unit and general_unit_upgrade attributes don't have anything to with the UI pictures.
At least I've never seen anything to suggest that; now, I don't use your full alexmod, I just use the alex.exe, so I haven't looked at what Tetoaku's problem could be. But are you sure the problem isn't just that if the picture is present, it's either named incorrectly, or just misplaced in the wrong folder?
If it isn't that, then could you describe what the problem is? Because I'm curious.

erm... how to explain, ... mod has recruitable generals using same models diff names but same descr so they would not be mixed.. see.. Family members from the start use the First general_unit unit of its ownership in the EDU line, that is why all other recruitable generals come as ALXEB_etc general_unit only after the first one that we want to be as faction one.. DMB has more spots but EDU is full, if its generic error.. as.. it may seem (unless i add that ui in every folder.. to see) .. only way to fix it is adding 1 more EDU spot or in this case 2 for missing generals that have issues with description via UI.. also it can be that the UI folder is just named diff which I doubt![]()

I'm going to be honest here, I realise English isn't your first language - it isn't mine either - but I have no clue what you tried to tell me in that post.
If a faction "A" can recruit a unit, they need the picture for that unit in the folder named "A" under UI/Unit_info and UI/Units. Or if the unit uses the mercenary slot, it needs to be in the merc folder there.
So, if you have a recruitable general that any faction can recruit, unless it uses the merc slot, it's picture needs to be in every faction's folder.
Missing units pictures has - as far as I know - nothing to do with the hardcoded limits on the EDU or DMB.
yea, its bit more complicated in these cases since its a general_unit, btw can anyone else confirm this UI issue? Since on my PC they arent missing![]()

Also, during these 2 years since Alx.exe pionering by my data (since file front removed the files many times) there have been over 10 thousands of downloads for the mod itself (there are many international forums that like EB from all over the world that use Alx.exe or Eaem) and only on these forums there have been soo many replies and questions, very very few have installation probs maybe coz most installed other mods before i am not sure![]()

Sorry - Your installation instructions are clearer than i thought (or you've made them clearer - don't know which) - pretty obvious the first download link is for the files for just using the ALX engine with EB. The ones Varcan put the link to seem to be the same except it has a file called .DS_Store
I've no idea what this is. Anyone know?

I've changed it to your download link in the post you made in 2007 now Maksimus - thanks. That post if very clear. It would be good to put a link to it in the opening post of the main EB for Alexander thread, because i dont think there is one at the moment - it just refers to needing files without any clearly labelled link to them.
I think Varcan maybe had just uploaded your files to another location from his pc because he couldnt find your thread or because it was quicker - not sure.

I don't remember completely but as far as I can recall, somebody was having issues with the engine mod to allow EB to work with Alexander engine and for some reason the download links on the front page weren't working. This is why I temporarily uploaded my backup version so the person could use the mod. (The ds/store file is nothing but a thumbnail arrangement file if I'm not mistaken, because I had uploaded from my macintosh computer.)

Sorry but I'm quite at a loss.
I just want to play vanilla EB using alex.exe, no other submod necessary.
So after installing R:TW 1.5, EB 1.1 and 1.2 and fixes, I only need to copy 2 files i.e. alex.exe and chat_filter.san to corresponding directory, and then create a proper shotcut, no Alexander full installation needed, is it so?
However in Maksimus's original post, he said you need to edit a ton of *.txt files such as export_descr_character_traits.txt etc. manually, that's scaring...
I believe or rather hope I don't need to do this, right?
The only problem you'll have is that all of your generals will not die of natural causes, which can be annoying.
Maksimus' instructions on the first page are pretty clear and it's just a copy-paste job.
If you feel brave enough to try it, just remember two things. Do not edit the files with notepad, it messes them up. I'd adive using CrimsonEditor or Notepad++.
Secondly, make back ups!
Does anyone get a glitch where after the general gives his pre-battle speech and you don't click "start deployment" for a while, the screen drags back and turns toward the sun and freezes up? I've been getting it a lot but I use the EB 1.2 Mod pack![]()
