How about how they end up in thirty years when I will be recruiting them from Syria to Saxony?

The Ottomans are weak and obsolete. We no longer need Constatinople to get our spices, dyes, and fabric. You are a dying mongrel, a sad mix of Greek, Roman, and Turk, and this is just their last attempt at humping Europe's leg before they fade into obscurity.

    No ham, pepsi.
They make deli slices of frozen pepsi now? Awesome!
You also need to purchase a small freezer for storage of your pepsi.
It runs on batteries. You'll need a few.
Uhh, I guess I won't have pepsi then. Do you have change for a twenty?

Oh boohoo I think I'm going to go cry in my palace with golden furniture, what ever shall I do? The mean little rebel has hurt my feelings!

Oh wait he's not a rebel anymore, he joined forces with his former master once again, trying to retain his small sense of pride and dignity, and now threatens me because he is too insecure with him self!

At least you haven't lost your sense of humor.

First, you are forgetting that Spain gave you that land probably in order to aggravate me, since that was No 1. target for me to acquire. By giving that to you, he wanted to divide us.

    Looks like he was successful.
I don't care WHY he gave me the land, I publicly stated I was going to give it to you. It is not Spain that divided us, but your blind and unrelenting arrogance, French king.

I understand that. It's just your message looked like a cry for help more than anything else.
It is a feeble man who is defeated by his own pride, rather than his enemies.

First of all, that was never your land originally. Second, it's a lot more acceptable than trying to use the dismemberment of France as a bribe to get others to intervene on your behalf.
It's my land now, and possession is 9/10ths of the law.

Really though, I hardly had to say anything to get people to agree to the dismemberment of France. I thought it was going to be hard work, but you've greatly assisted me in getting others to dislike you. I don't even have to lift a finger to see France defeated at this point, you've done it to yourself.

Like I stated, I had promised that land to the Duke of Savoy. Since I am now the Duke of Savoy, I have no choice but to take it. I warned you, you ignored it and now you will face the consequences.
French King: "I have no choice but to do whatever I decide"

French King: "I warned you, now face the consequences"

How is "Don't attack these cities" an unreasonable demand?
I can't tell which is greater; French arrogance or their ignorance about their own arrogance.

Apology? Ha! I'll make sure to inscribe "SORRY" onto every cannonball that hits your puny walls.
Ah, so you do admit you're sorry. Very big of you.

I could easily blow holes in Switzerland
    Oh behave

It seems the French aren't getting enough love at home. What's the matter, your wives not doing it for you?

Which is a problem when you consider the fact that all but one of the largest European nations can attack them on the next turn.

Hey could we have privateers in this game? We could recruit them for maybe 1000$ and they would show up in a random hex, but there's a limit to them? And they can only attack other navies, no ports?

The Austrian government is shocked at the Ottoman Sultan's declaration of war against them. We will not be beaten as easily as the Ottoman's think.

I tried to finish up everything but some things are still unfinished.
So, this means no last turn reports at the moment but I try to send them tomorrow before I go to work.
However, I would like to post write up so that you could start making plans for the future.
Some of you really need to.

Turn 3 will probably end in Thursday.

    -Year 1618-
    from July to December
During the summer months in London a treaty was signed between representatives of Saxony and Netherlands. With that treaty Maurits of Nassau agreed to give his provinces in Northern Germany to Saxony. Although the exact wording of that document is unknown some sources say that both Saxony and Netherlands got a rather large sum of money if they keep peace. This did not stop Dutch armies occupying states in Southern Germany. However, in spite of all that, King James I proved himself as a good host and diplomat.

Speaking of him, James I sent in July his armies to conquer the rest of the Ireland and in the end of September he was named King of Ireland. James I was not the only one who managed to add another title to himself. After Duke Charles Emmanuel I suddenly died French king Louis III also became the duke of Savoy. And this sparked the war with the Swiss...

Louis III saw Swiss rule in Franche-Comte as an insult. Although, there were some letters exchanged between each other it did not changed the situation and on the last days of July Louis III declared war on the Swiss Confederation. Army under general de Treville conquered easily Franche-Comte. Afraid of Spanish attack against France an old castle, Chateau Subotan, was repaired and modernized near Spanish Netherlands. Perhaps he was right but the threat did not come from north. General de Soto moved from the Portuguese border to Castille-Aquitaine one. In the same time Swiss continued their Milanese conquest and prepared another army in case French should try to invade their mountainous country.

In Scandinavia, Denmark, after securing Norway, decided to expand their territory more by moving into Novgorod region from north. This most likely will cause some tensions with the Tsar Mikhail who have to deal with another Scandinavian kingdom in his sphere of influence. Tsar had enjoyed the news from Germany where it was stated that Sweden had given it's provinces there to Saxony. Mikhail had thought that Swedish king was losing it's power but Danish incursion in Novgorod nullified all the good news from Germany.

When the Bohemian people revolted against Habsburg rule they never thought that their war will be that short. Bohemian and Imperial armies were ready to tear each other apart but then messengers came to announce truce that was signed few days ago. That treaty gave certain independence to Bohemia and Palatinate Elector Frederick V was named their King.

Having resolved this Bohemian issue Emperor Matthias had hoped that peace will be restored in the Holy Roman Empire but he was wrong. A war was declared by the Ottomans just few days after Austrian Habsburgs had signed peace with Bohemia. Imperial armies were immediately sent south to protect the only port Austria had. In the beginning Ottomans won a border battle against small Austrian army in Hungary but then everything fell apart. A cruel blade cut through Sultan Osman II throat in August just after he had started a campaign against Moldavia. This left their empire without a ruler for some months. The death of their Sultan must have reached to armies in west because General Tilly won 2 battles against small Ottoman armies in August and another Imperial army won battle in Hungary in late October. Those victories destroyed any opposition to Austrian forces in western Balkan and in the Adriatic coastal region. To make things even worse for the Ottomans, small province in Wallachia revolted against their rule and if left unchecked this could spread ideas of freedom even across the regional borders.

Common folks can only hope that these present wars don't get even larger....

I also didn't know that I couldn't do anything if my Sultan died. That REALLY would have been a good thing to know.

I would also like to know why I have to declare war before attacking. That really takes out ANY opportunity for a surprise attack.

King James has been honored, and as he has been so selected, wishes to announce to the nations of Europe the following statement.

The nations of Poland-Lithuania, The Netherlands, The Kingdom of Saxony, The Kingdom of Denmark, And the Kingdom of England, Have all decided it the proper time to announce the mutual alliances and joining between them into The Northern Alliance. The Network of allied kingdoms has been forming for some time, and have decided now to be a proper and prim time to let all of Europe know of its existence.

We expect their may be some surprise at this alliance, which has been formed to help create a peaceful balance in Northern and Middle Europe, as well as promote prosperity among all nations. This alliance is Secular in nature, and thus no nation shall be discredited from joining based on religion. All member nations of the alliance are equal, and all have a say in the induction of new nations into its ranks. The Northern Alliance is always willing to allow a new nation among it, and all who so wish may simply talk to a already existing member to vouch for you.

The Northern alliance does not exist to subsume the independent diplomacy of its member nations and as such separate alliances between member nations and non-members is not frowned upon in the slightest. We are all separate sovereign nations, and our foreign policy is our own to conduct. The Northern alliance is simply a way to show that the member nations have similar overarching goals and are on friendly terms with each other.

    The current member nations of the Northern alliance are as follows;
The Kingdom of England, Ruled by King James 1st (Cultured Drizzt Fan)
The Kingdom of Saxony, Ruled by Konig the Great (Centurion1)
The Kingdom of Denmark, Ruled by King Christian IV (Chaotix)
The Kingdom of Poland-Lithuania, Ruled by King Zygmunt III (Split)
The Netherlands, Ruled by Maurice of Nassu (Beskar)

In closing, I wish to once again stress that the creation of the Northern alliance does not change anything about the foreign policy of the member nations. We all have our own opinions on the politics of the world. However should a member nation be threatened by another then we shall ALL band together to aid our brother. (except under strenuous circumstances due to other binding treaties with non member nations. The Northern alliance does not exist to dictate whether a member can or can not stay neutral)

(Well, the Netherlands is going to be pretty neutral and peaceful, as I am by far, the smallest faction, even after I reunited the Netherlands under one banner.)

Your sultans death didn't have anything to do with the loss of those battles. Austrian armies just had better troops.

And declaration of war is needed so that larger kingdoms(like France) wouldn't steamroll over smaller states(like Savoy was).

Currently other players can at least try to set up some sort of defence.
