But again my question:
Do people in America live in fear for a terrorist attack everyday?

Abandon all hope.
Guilty until proven innocent!

Check out the footage of that Obama jet circling over, I would say it sits pretty deep. I was amazed (and somewhat disgusted) of how scared they were, they were actually running from the safety of the park to the potential nightmare that is being between high buildings with lots and lots of glass, no way that jet could have hit them they were perfectly safe.
Yes, because terrorists would rather target some trees than multi million dollar buildings.

I mean, one terrorist attack crippled America and its psyche.
How many terrorist attacks post 9/11 have there been?
Did you know more people have died of basic illnesses than the lives lost at 9/11 ? Where is the War against Bad Healthcare?
There have been more traffic accidents and lives lost there, where is the War against Traffic? Are you going to invade a General Motors warehouse for revenge?
It's silly.

There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

The moral is to the physical as three to one -- that is the primary "force multiplier" for any terrorist assault. The "it really CAN happen here" thing has had a significant impact (not crippling, but measurable) on the national psyche.
None in the USA. Whatever the manifold flaws of the Bush 43 administration, they were able to improve security and short-punch a number of would-be attempts. Trampled on our rights a bit getting there, but not without impact.Originally Posted by Beskar
Different issues. None of them feature an active human agent seeking to cause harm. You imply that government efforts to stop terrorism are mis-spent. I disagree. The problems you cite are problems that we address in an ongoing manner, as we should.Originally Posted by Beskar

The poorest man may in his cottage bid defiance to all the forces of the Crown. It may be frail; its roof may shake; the wind may blow through it; the storm may enter; the rain may enter; but the King of England cannot enter – all his force dares not cross the threshold of the ruined tenement! - William Pitt the Elder
No.
What really makes me laugh is how many people die each year from preventable diseases and treatable diseases, and then you consider how much we spend on fighting terrorism, which has claimed less lives per year than lightning bolts, if I remember correctly.
The war on terrorism has claimed far more lives than terrorism itself. And what's even more amusing is that almost every day, some nutjob holds people hostage at gunpoint in a bank or at their place of work, and that's basically the same thing as terrorism and it happens more often, but no one is really afraid of that.
Since they probably can't nuke us and they can't crash planes into stuff anymore, I really have to wonder why people are so afraid.
Personally I am more afraid of dying in my sleep due to carbon monoxide poisoning, but I think they have detectors for that. Maybe we should spend that money on making sure every single home has a carbon monoxide detector that beeps when the battery gets low. Probably save more lives that way, and best of all, the world doesn't hate us.
