The map looks awesome and I`m sure all the relevant information will be included when the game starts. Speaking of which, is prior knowledge of the resident evil series needed for storyline etc? If so i`ll do some research

I wish to join up as well.
Parla più piano e nessuno sentirà, il nostro amore lo viviamo io e te,
nessuno sa la verità, neppure il cielo che ci guarda da lassù.
    Insieme a te io resterò,
    amore mio, sempre così.
Parla più piano e vieni più vicino a me, Voglio sentire gli occhi miei dentro di te,
nessuno sa la verità, è un grande amore e mai più grande esisterà.

Nope, you don't need to know anything about Resident evil. For people who aren't fans of the series:

    1. The dead people in this game turn into zombies and keep playing. They can be killed with weapons, or you can outrun them.

    2. There are non-human creatures that are much bigger and stronger than you. Especially the crowd-busting creature that I will be sending after you. He's about 20 feet tall.

    3. Herbs can be mixed together to make heath items or attribute-boosting items.

    4. There will be almost no one from the Resident Evil games in this game. 98% of you are all new characters. Yes, you have images that look like RE characters, but that's because I'm not about to make 60 brand-new images. These are new characters, with the rare exception.

    5. Some of your fellow townsfolk may simply wish to kill you and take your weapons and items, to increase their chance of survival. Others want you eliminated anyway because they aren't ordinary townsfolk.

And that's about it... I mean this game should feel special for Resident Evil fans, but I had fun in the Battle Royale game and I never saw the movie. You should be fine. Right Sigurd?

Question. Does awareness increase your line of sight? How many squares will we be able to see? Would an awareness of 5 allow you to see 5 squares in each direction (which would be a 1/9th of the map)?
    Bad.

No, as ATPG said, there will be no need for any real knowledge of the Resident Evil series. However, those that do will have a slight advantage - knowing the mythos always helps when trying to deal with it's myriad of creatures and humans. Just don't depend upon them - knowing ATPG, he's switched a few things around contrary to cannon to throw us RE lovers for a loop

The 27th will begin Day One.

You all now have your Role PM's. I still have to give each of you your character cards, which I cannot do unless you allocate your Stats.

Please, if you have attribute points to allocate, do so, and I'll send you your character card (when I get a chance) Otherwise you will start Day One with default stats, and if you end Phase One with your default stats, they are locked in for the entire game. You still have many many days before Phase One starts and then ends, but this is a fair warning.

Some of you do not need to move your attribute points around because you have been given a special character with forced stats. Do not mention that this applies to you.

    Reminder:

First rule about role PMs, don't talk about role PMs. Not unless I said you could.

No, the awareness attribute allows you to detect stealth players better with each additional point, and otherwise it looks like this:

    AWARENESS RADIUS

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Awareness rating of between 1 and 3 gives you a tiny awareness radius. Only 9 squares... just your zone of control. Which is fine if you're working with someone else who has a much higher radius... they can "see" and detect things for you.

Awareness rating of between 4 and 6 gives you a slightly bigger diamond.

Awareness rating of 7-9 gives you a much better awareness radius.

Awareness rating of 10 gives you a big fat circle.

Awesome... Come online ATPG I need to talk lol....

Any chance of making the grid smaller? (like each current square could have four sqaures in it?) or have you made up your mind on that? You could just increase the movement rate etc... But being able to be aware for 3 city blocks is kinda weird lol Sorry good job alround by the way....

I need it that size so there's enough room for the 60 players we have, but not so many that it takes forever to cross town.

Consider every 15 minute phase enough time to sprint 3 city blocks. It's realistic.

As for awareness for 3 city blocks, that's if you're really aware and have hawk eyes.

Also, there's a lot of grid squares. 30*30 squares means almost 900 places you can move to, minus the squares you cannot reach. Which I'll get into later.

Having more squares would make it hard to find your character on the map, and hard to see the map itself. I have it balanced perfectly with the number of squares there are, in my opinion... I don't want to screw it up too much.

Oh, for those of you who are super curious about the game mechanics for combat and such... I do owe you a post which details all that, for the curious among you.

Please give me some time on that, I'm getting bombarded with PMs and questions and IMs and I even have to eat and go shopping.... why oh why am I going shopping now, right before thanksgiving?

A few of you have some minor typos in your role PMs.

If I said you have x number of points to allocate, but then I said it would add up to say, 7 in each category.... double check my math because it is probably wrong.

Contact me privately if you have any sort of similar foul-up.

A lot of people are asking me questions about how best to allocate their stat points.

Give me one moment and I'll explain what each stat does, and what some strategies might be.

Check this post in like 30 minutes.

WHERE DO I SPEND MY POINTS?

Most players in the game have stats that look like this.

    Strength: 4
    Combat: 4
    Vitality: 4
    Speed: 4
    Stealth: 4
    Awareness: 4
    Luck: 4

This setup is the default. You can re-arrange these points. the 28 points don't get added to this.

    4 in each category:

Strength: You should do slightly average in melee situations, with a melee weapon.
Combat: You should be able to at least hit back on occasion.
Vitality: You have 4 hit points until you die. Most weapons remove 1 hit point. Some remove two or more. However, your combat and luck help you avoid damage.
Speed: You should be able to have a chance at doing double damage in melee combat. Not a huge change, but an acceptable one.
Stealth: You can hide, just not as well as you'd like.
Awareness: You can see a diamond shape around you, and find items on a fairly regular basis.
Luck: You will defend against damage some of the time, and find rare items some of the time.

Should I spend points on Strength?

    A) Maybe. Do you want to be very strong in physical combat, and maybe deal more damage? It doesn't apply extra damage to ranged weapons. There's also places in the game where you need strength to move forward... like breaking down a gate or a door or a barricade. You can't proceed without strength.

However, not everyone in the game is intended to have excellent strength... let those who are already brawny spend extra points being super brawny. That way they can bust through.

Spend points here if you already are spending a lot on combat and speed, for melee situations. You may not ever even want to use a gun if you have excellent strength, speed, and combat.

Strength is a good place to steal points from if you aren't planning on being a brawler.

Should I spend points on Combat?

    A) Most likely. Remember, in order to defeat enemies in combat or defend against blows, you need combat.

    Why would you not?

Well... let's say you had a lot of vitality points and a lot of luck. You'd take damage, but you'd be able to block some of that damage due to your saving throws, and you'd absorb more damage before death due to vitality (your hit points). Have someone who can heal you, and be sure to RUN FROM COMBAT, and you should be OK.

Don't steal points from combat unless you plan on specializing in something where you really need points. However, versus a frightening monster with like combat 10, having 3 points in combat versus 1 point in combat makes almost no difference.

What does combat really do well? This is your TO-HIT-YOUR-OPPONENT rating. Without high combat, you might miss your opponent on almost every round of combat, unless they have an equally abysmal combat rating.

Should I spend points on Vitality?

    A) You will not survive this game with 1 vitality. This is how many HP you can lose before death.

I suppose it is marginally conceivable that you can survive with maximum stealth, maximum combat, and maximum luck... however, on an unlucky roll, you will still die.

    Spend points on Vitality.

Should I spend points on Speed?

    A) You really don't need speed if you aren't planning on being a melee character. If you have high combat and a firearm-style weapon, you won't need the additional melee hits, and you don't be doing melee anyway. You'll be shooting. Even slow characters shoot at the same speed that fast ones do.

Can I steal points from Speed?

Sure. Just realize you won't be moving very far every round, and you will do poorly with a melee weapon.

    What is it good for?

Running away. You can cross the map faster with high speed. And if you want to be a brawler or a ninja-like assassin with a sword or a metal pipe or a knife, you need speed for melee combat.

Should I spend points on Stealth?

    A) Well... not unless you're going to try to be a stealth character.

If you don't imagine you'll be sneaking around... maybe you picture yourself doing lots of searching for items, like a detective or a botanist or something that scans more than assassinates people, then you don't need stealth.

    Why have stealth?

If you want to kill things with a brutal first strike attack, and not get hit back, stealth can give you the first strikes you need. If you want to be able to hide when your health is low, then yeah... you need stealth.

Should I spend points on Awareness?

    A) Are you planning on doing a lot of searching, or working alone?

Awareness helps you find and track people down. Awareness helps you identify things that are further away. Awareness helps you locate items better. Awareness helps you identify characters in stealth mode and prevents the first strike against you in that circumstance.

However, if you're not planning on working alone, someone else can scan for items, for attackers, look for danger, and act as a radar screen. You don't necessarily need awareness at all. Just buddy up with someone who has high awareness and protect them with your life.

Still, I find it very useful.

Should I spend points on Luck?

    A) It will help you find better weapons and you'll survive more damage that you've taken in combat, because it's an additional saving throw on top of your combat roll. I find Luck to be very useful. Have at least an average amount of luck.

    Why not have luck?

If you have a high enough combat roll, you don't need luck to survive damage. If you have a high enough awareness and you're doing a lot of searching during the game, or you're a botanist or a detective, maybe you don't need luck to find things.

Still, that extra saving roll is useful.

    WHAT ABOUT AWARENESS AND MOVEMENT?

    (Awareness and Speed)

    1-3 awareness
    https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/...areness1-3.png

    4-6 awareness
    https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/...areness4-6.png

    7-9 awareness
    https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/...areness7-9.png

    10 or more awareness
    https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/...wareness10.png

As you can see, sometimes it isn't worth it to bump up one category in the lower categories. There's not much difference.

But it is worth it to bump up into the upper categories, if that's where you want to spend your points.
