one thing I have noticed is that the AI can sometimes catastrophically fail to garrison it cities well enough.
This will explain why sometimes you see the ai factions swiftly expanding or growing.
e.g in my current campaign epirus were for a considerable time a regional superpower, making considerable inroads into the Maks and getai territory. Then the getai started to push them back. and finally the maks kind of exploded, taking all the KH territories on mainland greece and pushing epirus back to the periphary.
the maks recently declared war on me (i am haysadan and rule asia minor). They have a full stack besieging me in byzanton, but i notice that in their "heartland" of mainland greece most of the cities are poorly defended with 2-4 units.
I intend to exploit this! However i coudl see that a similar situation may arise between two ai factions and that may well explain why the map can seem to change quickly.
so hes saka in thias campaign and the romans have took sardin and corsica, what r u playing with BI? or alex? iv never seen the roman AI capture nethin over sea

Of course BI, in Alex (I also used to play in Alex before being converted to Shieldwall and swimmin bridge battle maniacs), the Romans will run wildly to Iberia (somewhat more historical though), or hacking their ways to meet their Sweboz friends at Baltic sea (if they are not killed by Epeiros though)
