I guess that the chrystals form in a combination of the short days and the reflective nature of the snow cover, making sure that they don't reach positive degrees C. They probably have a name.

Bimbo is a huge Mexican-based baking conglomerate. They sponsor a few soccer teams in Central America, I always get a little chuckle when seeing them play on TV.
