There's also another point to consider: the rules don't say that mafia can't get certain roles. This means that the role of back-up can go to a mafioso. So, even if john is saying the truth, the fact that he got the detective role from Arpeg doesn't clear him at all. The back-up role is useful for mafia, so it's perfectly possible that the role went to a mafioso.

So, I voted for innocents. This is mafia, it happens. Look back at all the games I played and you'll notice that most of the time, I voted for innocents. You can vote about everybody for that reason. So, your "case" against me is rubbish.

Wrong. I laugh and nod when mafia. As town, I'm more serious. Also, I strongly disagree with the popular opinion that defending yourself vigorously against being lynched is a scumtell. It isn't. Getting lynched is bad for your team, regardless of your alignment. Defending yourself against a lynch is what is expected from every player.
