a) Granted - due to the single "incident" causing their distress they get more spotlight and probably and overproportional share of aid

b) not being in the spotlight every day does not necessarily mean that other starving people are "ignored". Personally I try to "stread" donations and NGOs and government organizations certainly also have the ongoing issues on their radar screen

c) Not directed at you specifically (as I do not and cannot know what you do or do not do) but sometimes I have the feeling that statements as the one you made are used as an excuse to neither help the ones that get more air time nor the ones that are "ignored"

Nothing. It's just they are currently in the spotlight. I'd share the same sympthy if you wish to post any articles dealing with other groups of people.

Your point seems to be unless every American is a living above the poverty line/have food/clothes etc, we should completely shut off the outside world and not give them a dime.
