Wait. If I read correctly, all he revealed was that you killed noone during Night 1. That is hardly evidence of your complete innocence.
He wouldn't know that unless he investigated me. And the story has been consistent from day one of me claiming to Reenk, that the investigation monitors activity only, it is not 100% indicator of guilt or innocence.
The evidence that I'm innocent would appear to be the fact that, of Ichigo and Beskar, one of them is mafia, or both. Otherwise Beskar would not have said he got a guilty result, yes? Now... I claimed and sold Ichigo down the river. Today, I reveal where the info came from, and Beskar did not deny it. So, if I'm mafia, I've given you my partner.
Lynch me tomorrow and all your concerns will disappear, my friend. That's your proof I'm innocent.

This isn't liable to be very good for me, I thought as I stepped out of my tent in the morning. I was beginning to feel the age of routine now upon myself when waking up. These last few days it has been much of the same. I would wake, gather my paper and brush, and go to the council. Then, I would try and keep pace with the savages as they blindly threw accusations around in the hopes that they decipher who was killing people at night. At this rate, I might even end up more comfortable with them than I am in the court! I shook my head at the absurdity of the thought, and put my mind at the task at hand. I arrived at a fairly good time today, with only perhaps a third of the camp, as well as Shinzei, present. Tribesmen slowly filtered in as more woke up or finished with a morning ride. I informed Shinzei when I was finally prepared for keeping track of the council. With that, he raised a hand, and started the council.
The council did not take long to get into a mood of vigilance. Very quickly, the man named Beskar, gained attention. I recalled that he had several close calls with the council before today. He was accused of attempting to deceive the council as to his whereabouts during the night, and that he had inconsistencies in his claims. He immediately renounced the accusations, and declared those attacking his integrity as deceivers. However, he found little support in his defense. As more tribesmen listened to the argument against him, more sided in favor of his death. The odds seemed to increasingly stack against his survival. There was continued argumentation throughout the day, but most of it seemed inconsequential. Though a few decided to turn suspicion elsewhere, when the sun began its descent, Beskar was still far and away the one who's death was most demanded of. I informed Shinze of the offical record.
Shinzei stood from his position, sword in hand. Those still alive made a loose circle around Beskar, intent upon preventing his escape. He was slowly inched towards his executioner as the circle tightened. He glanced with great unease around. Panic was visibly upon his face. Shinzei demanded he be made to submit before him, so a proper execution could be performed. Several tribesmen made an attempt to tackle the sentenced man to the ground, but Beskar rolled to the ground and evaded their grasp. He grabbed a knife which he had kept hidden, and stormed into a weak spot in the circle. Caius attempted to stop him, but Beskar dove under the man's grasp, and delivered a knife stroke into the gut, before continuing his mad dash. He had escaped the encirclement, and was making his way towards a wooden stake where several steeds were tied up. Several tribesmen fired arrows, but none connected as Beskar weaved in and out.
I was entranced by the sight in front of me. The man's desperate bid for his life was almost admirable, I had to admit. Yet, law was law. I snapped by head away from the sight and realized that Shinzei was no longer next to me. I scrambled to find him. He was, after all, the one now guaranteeing my safety. I ran into the main camp, disregarding the condemned man's bid for freedom for the moment. I searched through tent after tent, unable to find him. After a minute of fruitless searching, I made a beeline for the edge once more, wondering if perhaps I could find him better from this view. When I reached the edge of our encampment, I was treated to a bizarre and wonderful sight. Beskar had indeed obtained for himself a steed, and was now dueling with several different tribsemen, all upon their own mounts, across the endless plain. As I watched, it was then I found Shinzei- he was one amongst those attempting to apprehend Beskar. Outnumbered badly, the man was weaving every which way, barely avoiding spear thrusts and arrows that attempted to end his escape. Shinzei shouted directions, and the tribe began finally to coordinate their movements. Beskar would attempt to ride west, only to be cut off by several horsemen. When he attempted to go east, he would be cut off once more by several horsemen. Shinzei led a small cadre of horsemen that were shutting of a northern escape. Beskar finally made a bid south. South. Towards the encampment. And myself. I cursed to myself. My guards were amongst those that were funneling Beskar to the encampment. I scrambled about, looking for anything to defend myself should the need arise. I went through tent after tent, until, finally, in the fifth tent, I discovered an errant spear. I quickly ducked out into the main camp. Beskar burst through the other end, his steed now clearly becoming exhausted, as evident by severe panting. I stumbled as I attempted to maneuver away from the dangerous man, and fell to the ground. Beskar's horse began trampling down the lane I had stumbled in, arrows whipping by over his head. For reasons I cannot understand, a bravery I had never yet felt surged through my blood. I got up off the ground, and blocked the horse's path. Beskar shouted for me to move or he would slay me. Feeling my courage envelop me like the strongest armor, I stood my ground. Holding the spear in both hands, I gave a mighty thrust as Beskar and his steed trampled into me. The horse grazed by me, avoiding the collision, but I was knocked to my back regardless. For my spear had struck true, directly into the chest of Beskar. The force of his body being pierced upon my weapon had thrown me backwards. I was shake some and splattered with blood, but came out much better than my counterpart.
The horsemen came into the camp, led by Shinzei, with looks of amusement upon their faces as they discovered the body I left. Shinzei ordered the camp return to council grounds. I was given no special treatment for my slaying of the Beskar, but the camp members did seem to look upon me with a bit more favor. When all were situation, Shinzei demanded of everyone that tell everything they knew of Beskar now that he was deceased. A man named Tratorix stepped forward, his head bent down. He made a profuse apology to the entire camp, stating that he had known Beskar was an assassin for a while now, and had temporarily accepted his services for a sum of copper pieces. He began pleading for his life, and in the process, revealed further that Ichigo, just recently executed, had been sent with Beskar as well. Shinzei demanded knowledge of any others. Tratorix tearfully stated that nobody else had been killing. A smile overtook Shinzei's face. He formed a fist in his right hand, and triumphantly raised it in the air, shouting a cheer of triumph. The rest of the camp raised their own hands, imitating their temporary leader. Adrenaline flowed through me, and I felt pride knowing that I had contributed. A fist formed in my own hand. I shot it skyward, cheering with my comrades in arms....

Post-game thoughts-
1. I feel used, Beskar. The oven hath no fury like a Pizzaguy scorned. Now you understand why I couldn't just blindly trust you, my friend. I've never been used so hard like that before, but it was an inevitability, given my penchant for townie networks. I have to watch out for my own credibility; if people know that the pizzaguy is gullible, I'll be an easy mark in future games. Remember the rule: benefit of the doubt only lasts so long. That was the rule I stated to you when you revealed to me originally. I told you what was going to happen. You should not have been surprised when I pointed the finger at you.
2. My fellow townies (excluding pevergreen the pevergreat), you have to be on the lookout for hiding/delaying tactics like pretending to have internet troubles just when a game begins. Myself, pever, and a couple others noted that Ichigo's activity dropped off right when the game began. It's far too easy to hide in the noise of discussion when you aren't even there.
3. Detective claims must result in an eventual lynch... I believe more than half of all detective claims are phony. A detective for a mafia is always a good trade. Especially a fake one.
4. You will read our mash notes once more, because mafia is all about peace and love. READ IT.
Beskar can't be guilty because he's my... err.... sweetie pie. :shame:
Quit denying it Beskar, you know you loves me.
If you want our perfectly natural love to blossom, you'll vote for yourself, Split. I believe you're the only sane one left who still recognizes the power of love. I'll give you a cookie if you commit suicide so that Beskar and I can make beautiful babies together.
I pinky swear that I am not mafia.
*skips off into the sunset hand in hand with the awesome manliness that is Beskar*
Won't someone please save my cuddle bunny from an inglorious and unwarranted death? :shame:
Well, Beskar my heroic stallion, shall we have one last go? I'll always remember your tender touch, your pretty eyes, and your totally not scummy behavior that was unfairly bandwagoned by a town that doesn't believe in love anymore.
I consider it a compliment, for sure. Of course, you have voted for me this game so far, as well as my one and only soul mate and perfect pretty peachy pie, Beskar, so I'm not sure how far flattery will get you.
5. A lie is a tool; it can be used for good or evil.
6. No lurker victories.

[edit] Thus marks the end of the Curse of Khaan! Woo! (Thanks, 'khaan for a very entertaining game.)
The curse of Khaan ended in Minnesota Mafia :clown::smash:
Maybe Beskar didn't realize that the game would end on his demise. He might have thought that Tratorix could run to the finish line undetected.
As ATPG said, a detective claiming to have found a guilty player, will normally be executed right after. Town's ability to ferret out Mafiosi should not rest on the shoulders of a detective. Finding one is a job well done and we thank him for his contribution and slit his throat.
I got a bit suspicious towards the ATPG and Beskar network after I fed them some incriminating information.
The night with no kills - Beskar came to me and asked if I had blocking abilities, since he had informed me that he would investigate Ichigo and there was no kills. I told him I had none, but added - I had not been able to log on to the .org due to my 10th anniversary. This he completely ignored and I was still "innocent" in his book the next round when he found a guilty Ichigo. Naturally he had to go the next round to make sure. I expected that he would launch a crusade against me the next round, but lo and behold, the game was over. :2thumbsup:
And to all those who thought I was a Mafioso: Shame, shame on all of you!! :laugh4: [I kid of course]

Well! It appears that Khaan may give clues after all in the write ups!
Shinzei Khaan laid outside his tent, gazing at the crescent moon. He was having difficulty sleeping as of late. That the camp was infiltrated by enemy agents so soon after Jenghiz departed was troubling. That he was having so much difficulty catching them was even more ominous. Jenghiz wasn't tolerant towards failure, and if he came back to his camp only to find it one third of the size he left it.... Well, let's just say it would be bad news for ol' Shinzei. On the other hand, perhaps they had executed the last one.
"Give me a sign!" he begged of the starry heavens. "Tell me I've done right! Tell me the spies are gone!" The night sky seemed at first indifferent of his request. Shinzei sighed, and decided it was time to get back into his tent for the night. As he picked himself up, he noticed something bright in his peripheral vision. He looked back skyward. An angry, blue fireball strode across the heavens at astonishing speed. Its twin tails flared out spectacularly. Shinzei scampered back into his tent. "This is not the sign I wished for!" he muttered to to himself. "I needed a good omen, not a disaster!"
My previous night of good sleep would prove elusive once more. I was quite rudely awakened during the night multiple times by tribesmen who seemed to be milling about in the night. I ignored it for the time being, desperate for every wink of sleep that I could obtain. When the time came for me to be up and going, I felt groggy and irritated. What could have been going on that was so fascinating?! I stumbled out the tent, heading towards the council grounds once more. It seemed a rather large number of tribesmen were in attendance, perhaps every member of the camp. All I could see, including Shinzei, seemed exceedingly agitated. My irritation began to warp into dread. What could have happened that caused such emotion from the savages? I made my way to the side of Shinzei, and before the council could be started, I asked him how many had been killed during the night, assuming the number must be strikingly large. He replied that nobody had been found dead. I was stunned. I asked him what had happened that caused the entire camp to be so on edge. He gave me a curious look, as though I was an imbecile for not knowing. He informed me the heavens opened up that night with an ominous portent, a great fireball which scorched the heavens themselves. I now understood why the council was being held; such omens could not be ignored. The matter at hand was now more serious than ever, and it was important that we prevent the foretold disaster upon this camp.

The comet write up in Night 4, so they recruited Tratorix that night, and then the write ups indicated that they were now able to do 2 kills!

Thank you khaan for hosting, the game was very well written and I really got into it. Thank you Sasaki wherever you are for being my inspiration. Using your playstyle and analytical method, I now have a deeper respect for it, it really did flush out a lot of the bit players (Beskar, Atpg, Tratorix).
WOW WE COULD HAVE LYNCHED BESKAR SO EASILY IN THE FIRST THREE ROUNDS! :furious3:
I fully blame Atpg and Sigurd for saving Beskar's lives in the early going. :furious3:
I think understand what Beskar's plan was. I don't think it was a bad plan, maybe a bit premature as Ichigo was not gaining any suspicion.
All I have to say is, Beskar, if you had killed Atpg and AVSM, both of whom you said you knew about, this entire thing wouldn't have happened, and your plan might have worked.
I really want to know why you didn't do this? :inquisitive: :help: :juggle2:  :wall: :whip:
Also, a big thank you to YLC for selling me his vote a lot. You can have my votes in one game if you wish, just ask.

Askthepizzaguy
08-04-2009, 16:29
Can I ask you guys who are blaming me a question? Would you have gotten Ichigo so early if Beskar hadn't pointed the finger at him? No. I was one of the ones voting for Ichigo early because I didn't buy his story. Furthermore, as soon as Beskar revealed to me, I told him that if he didn't hand over a mafioso in a few rounds, I would expose him for fake claiming to me. Then, I kept telling Beskar I would volunteer to reveal any guilty result he got. Which prompted the Ichigo reveal. I told you to lynch Beskar if he survived after the Ichigo reveal. AT MOST I said wait ONE more round. I started questioning Tratorix right after that, and voted for him, just as he had been recruited.
So yeah. That would be 3/3. If you think I somehow did a bad job this game, might I remind you that you thought I was scum the whole game, and I assisted in taking down the whole mafia team. I guess that doesn't matter though.
Final point: You really want me to just immediately lynch someone claiming detective in future games? Yeah ok. Good call. :laugh4: He still went down, I was just exploring the possibility of him telling the truth. In short... puh-leaze.
I'm not trying to take too much credit, this was a team effort, and a lot of it was luck. But if you think I did a bad job this game, you need to get your head examined, no offense.

Ironically, if that had happened, we likely wouldn't have caught Ichigo. :laugh4:
Ichigo has a tendency to be the first "lurker" killed though. With Beskar dead I don't think it would be too long after the "lynch the lurkers" started. We would have probably run through Atpg and maybe Sigurd before, but they deserved it for helping Beskar. :beam:
@ Atpg, despite your own comments on how you played, I think it's quite clear from an outsiders perspective that your saving of Beskar and being played by him was detrimental to the town A LOT. You got played by Beskar to be the insturment of his plan. He just failed to finish his plan at the end... :inquisitive:
The only reason your play didn't pan out to be a failure is because Beskar for some unexplicable reason decided not to kill you and AVSM allowing you to rat him out while alive. That's the way I see, I guess I'm crazy though.
In all honesty, it was not only Beskar who gave Ichigo up, kinda unnecessarily, it was him who sealed his doom by not eliminating those who he was tricking. The credit goes to... Beskar for ruining the Mafia. :laugh4:
Ah well, I must admit Beskar, you are an ambitious player who did a good job avoiding the heavy fire you were under in the first rounds.
Lastly, I would like to see if Ichigo even lurked this game (according to his post standards). His win in SotM is considered a lurker victory though his activity went up... :inquisitive:

I'm not saying you did a bad job either, WE; I'm just saying we got Ichigo due to a little thing called patience. When someone claims detective to you, that's gold... because you know if you keep that person alive just a little while, you're helping town either way. Because if they fail to make progress, you can still point out all the innocent people. And, if they are scum, you can keep them close and watch what they do. And who knows... they might just reveal their partner.
And I was saying we should lynch Beskar on the next round anyway, which if he were a detective, would have been a good thing, and if he is scum, which he was, we would have lost nothing. Covering your bases and all that.
And I believe you were pointing to me and Sigurd as scum as recently as last round...? :laugh4:

Mafia
Greetings, Ichigo
You are the Naranbaatar, the Merkit agent. Your proud people have been oppressed and subjugated by Jenghiz Khan. Your tribe knows it must end his tyranny in order to restore the old order. It has agreed to a secret alliance with the Tatar tribe, who have sent their most promising young warrior, Beskar, as a partner to assist you. Each night, one of the two of you may venture into the camp to murder a member of the Mongol tribe, while the other guards your tent. Your objective is to eradicate the camp(town).
However, in secret, your tribe leaders confessed to you, that they still lack trust in the Tatar people. There are too many old wounds, they claimed, to form any full alliance. They advised you, once you felt secure in your position, to bribe one of the Mongolian tribesmen, to aid you, while secretly disposing of the Tatar. You are to maintain the facade of friendship in the meantime, lest he discover the plot. Do remember, though, that he is one of their strongest, most valiant warriors. Direct confrontation may prove dangerous. After you make TWO kills, you will be able to spend the following night sneaking out the tent to bribe one of the locals. The tribal leaders gifted you with a small bag of copper pieces to aid this. Your ACTUAL victory goals are to dispose of both the Mongols and the Tatar agent.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Good luck

The tribal leaders gifted you with a small bag of copper pieces to aid. Your ACTUAL victory goals are to dispose of both the Mongols and the Merkit agent.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Good luck

That's correct, there weren't any pro-town roles in the game. Anyone claiming a pro-town role was fibbing.
I hope this helps clear up a few things. I'm going to post a more complete summary later.

Beskar had you wrapped around his finger....I am just glad town didn't fall for it:2thumbsup:
I disagree. I told him that I didn't fully trust him from the beginning, and I told people what was going on. If I had died, I still would have been screaming "lynch Beskar", I just wouldn't have been able to say why. Only AVSM or the clues I left behind would have.
You might say I had Beskar wrapped around MY finger. When I told him he had a few rounds of time before I exposed him for fake revealing, he got nervous. I never once fully trusted him, and his days were numbered. I wanted to follow his claim to see where it went, and it led directly to Ichigo.
*sigh*
I guess I'll just lynch anyone claiming detective from now on.
Edit: Self-glorification? Oh my. You mean not thinking I was a total screw-up?

The same thing as Chicago Soiree... :laugh4:
Ah, well that explains why Beskar fingered Ichigo. That's an interesting position for the mafioso to be in.
Yeah, Ichigo was trying to set me up with the kills, he had to go. However, Khaan not revealing Ichigo was mafia was my downfall.
Ahahaha, I was right all along! Bow before my superior Beskar-detecting skills! :laugh4:
I call you out on such abilities, there was no way you could have known. It was a fluke. You need to be far more consistent, since other times you did it, you were wrong.  Statistical chance of accusing some one of Mafia game is bound to end up with that person as a Mafia some time. Same for those others who had theories completely inaccurate.
Also, for those hating ATPG, if it wasn't for him, you would have never have won. Keep that in mind. Other then getting one Mafia, Ichigo, lynched, if he didn't reveal, it was high chance the next two lyches would have been him and White_Eyes:D, then possibly Sigurd for a 3rd, leading up to a Mafia victory.
(Also Khaan making it only 1 kill between us :smash: Also, Khaan not revealing Ichigo was a Mafia :smash: )

Beskar, did you kill me randomly or was it a reaction to the "Cold Night" game?
It was Ichigo who killed you, not me. You have to ask him why, it was nothing to do with me.

Notes on the process and game structure.
I was a disappointed that I didn't get the full forty players I was hoping for in this game. Had I been able to get this, I would have had 4 starting mafioso, and one doctor. The doctor I ended up eliminating when the game failed to get the the required number of players. Mafia kill power was halved, though the total number of players was about 60%. Thus, the doctor was sacrificed for the purpose of balance.
Starting the game, Ichigo and Beskar were able to do one kill per night. Who killed was very important. After each one got two kills, they would be able to recruit a townie afterwards. After recruiting this person, each "sub-mafia" would get a kill for each mafioso. Thus, Beskar and Tratorix were both able to kill one person per night once the bribing was done with. This meant that, potentially, there could have been four kills per night once all recruitment was done. Since this is such a large number of kills per night, it was necessary to cut starting kills from two to one.
Now, for a few questions that might still be lingering. Ichigo apparently was having difficulty in obtaining consistent internet access. On night four, he failed to send me kill orders, while Beskar was out bribing tratorix. This would have been his second kill. Subsequent nights, he still was unable to send in orders, and thus he never was able to recruit. Had he been able to get the kill orders in, the balance of the game may have shifted, as there may have been substantially fewer townspeople in the last round.
A few other notes about the mafia. Beskar and Ichigo were both immune from a singular kill. In other words, if either one attempted to kill the other very early, the kill would have failed. This was done to attempt to guide the game towards both players being able to recruit their future partners. Once the mafia recruited there new partners, they could, however, both go after the other original mafioso and kill them at night. The exception was that, if both went after the other original mafioso on the night said mafioso was bribing a townsperson, they would find the tent empty for the night. Again, this was for balance to prevent a mafioso ganging up on his person by virtue of having gotten the two kills earlier when they were supposedly working together.
And lastly, the comet. I am being absolutely serious when I say this. The comet meant nothing as per being relevant to the game. When I was not getting orders from Ichigo on night four, I realized there would not be a night kill. I needed a plausible excuse for the town to think that there were still killers in the camp. I was sitting at my computer for about 20 minutes trying to think of something until it hit me that a bad omen from the heavens would be the most suitable, and a comet was the best I could think of. That it had two tails was basically an accident of writing. It wasn't meant as a spoiler or anything like that pertaining to the game.
Thanks everyone for playing, and congrats to the town for winning.

Thanks for hosting khaan, it was an entertaining game even though it didn't end well for me. I'm a little confused as to why Beskar told me he couldn't night kill while Ichigo was alive even though he apparently could, though. :inquisitive:
I was Wogged and Alive at the same time, I am God.

Victory! Sorry for not trusting you ATPG. Truthfully enough, Beskar's position was quite bad, but I was seeing scum written all over you. Guess I need glasses. >__>

It's ok, Jolt. I don't have a very trustworthy face.
<-----------------------:laugh4:
Plus all that lying I do constantly.

My story was sadly true, which hindered my activity greatly in this game. That's why I didn't kill in the 4th round. Sorry for messing up your game khaan. I could have done much better.

If it helps matters, and it probably doesn't, it also disrupted the lives of two mafiosi in the Swords and d20's game over the past couple days. It hasn't been a very pretty week. :sweatdrop:
