In this regard, they need to fix their multi cluster server stuff in a way that allows us to play cross-continental on demand.

Yes, reasonably so. But I have been following and reporting on WoT even before it came out, and I got enough experience to deduce from all the reports from many players, videos and reviews that WoT is actually a high quality title. But as I said, not enough time to play them all, so I didn't even bother, especially since I would prefer WoWP or WoB setting more than simple tanks.
I've seen WoWP footage and, given the physics engine is well done, I am certain it will be as amazing as WoT is, in its own way, and same goes for WoB. Basically, I always tip right on the quality of the game we are about to receive, well, with one exception... Age of Conan. I was pretty certain it would be the MMO to end all MMO's. I still wince when I pass the Collector Edition on my shelves.
I'm not sure WoWP has a physics engine, it's pretty arcadey AFAIK.
WoT definitely needs the physics engine they're developing, I hope it will also make the tracks adjust to the terrain instead of being so static.

If it's as ridiculous at release as it looked the last time they showed off the physics (a month ago), they can keep it. It's like moon gravity with T-54s flying off 50 foot cliffs and taking 1/4 damage and a damaged (not broken) track.
People can be real jerks sometimes.
I was playing the S-51 and had a really good game with three kills, an E75, a T-44 and a T34, and one unintentional TK when a T-50 got too close to the T34.
Anyhow, everyone was real happy with my performance, and I was down to my last shot, with the last tank being a Jagdtiger with damaged tracks at 107 HP. perfect setup for Fadin's medal. I requested that I be allowed to kill him, and they were all OK with it since they were capturing.
Then at the moment my aiming reticle is nearly focused and I'm pressing the T button just in case, this GWP who'd not scored a single kill in the entire match or said a word swoops in without a comment and kills the JT.
I never tell people that they steal kills. I know that it's important to kill an enemy tank as quickly as possible, but when the game is won and the tank in question is no threat at all and is half a map away from where your team is capturing the base, doing something like this, is being a jerk.

Running the IS7 on an ordinary account is not exactly profitable. The repair bill is usually near or exact the credits you win in a game. And then you have the ammo bill and any consumable you spent.
That baby screams for a Rammer and I don't have one in storage in the depot. I don't want to use my IS4 crew in it either with the upcoming 0.7.3 upgrade.
So.. it is slow reloading, slow repairing but can take a beating. Somehow the gun seems better on the IS7 than on the IS4, haven't researched if that is the case.
It may/should actually have a faster reload speed per default on the IS-7.
Other than that gun stats don't change between tanks if it's the same gun.
As for destruction, if a tank that got destroyed in battle would disappear from your garage, NOONE would have an IS-7, I mean most people in most of their tanks survive between 30% and 50% of the battles they fight in and it takes up to hundreds of battles to get the experience and credits required for the next tank. If you'd permanently lose one of the tanks you need to grind, that would be horrible and sadistic.
Besides, after paying 30-50€ for a tier 8 premium tank, everyone would quit after having it taken away. :laugh4:

Yep, trying to decide if it's worth it or not, only just researched the IS-3 and have 90k I could convert to free atm so still quite a way to go.
Certainly not worth spending 50 bucks on. Specially when you can grind it for free.
Then again I'm of the opinion that free games are best played free and I haven't spent a dime on WoT as yet.
Still if you want to spend money spend it on something that you can't grind through regular means like prem tanks. Otherwise, IMO never worth it.
And there's atleast 2-3 weeks till 7.3. More than enough time. Better to spend money and buy prem for a limited time, than use it on converting XP.

Download went smoother that last time... I got 2.0MB/s which took roughly 25min on my company line.
Can't wait till I get home and can try this out... Always good to test this out before the real update.

I saw the image of the new IS4 from a previous test earlier.
The gun looks funky, but I guess it's ribbed for a very specific reason....perhaps a hint to what the new IS4 will probably do most of the time to other heavies :evilgrin:
It appears that the KV3 hasn't received any buff other than HP....really would've liked a new gun. And maybe a bit more armour on KV2.
When you get a bit of time, do tell how the new IS4 plays.

Also tried one of the new maps (the non Asian one, don't remember the name) and it was nice. Lots of rocks and ridges. Good for heavy tanks.

The stock gun on IS4 makes no sense. It's as though they put it there just to spite players who'll get the IS4 in its new form for free, because everyone else who levels up from ST-1 later will already have it researched. They really need to put in a new stock gun, atleast the BL9. Or the new 107 mm ZiS-24....anything with more pen that D25T.
Other than that with the tier 10 gun it plays like a dream. Not exactly a terrifying tier 10 heavy, but I found it more like a stronger, more powerful IS3. Most of the dead IS4's I saw were the ones who'd been penetrated on the front plate.

If the 130mm “S-70” gun is researched in the IS-4 tree, then the 122mm “M-62-T2” gun will be available in the IS-8 tree;
That's the same gun the new IS-4 gets so I think I may just have to buy it.

But my point is that just starting a tier 10 with a tier 8 gun is ridiculous.
It's not, you got it for free, you have to earn at least the gun.

What's up with top speeds of 50 (IS-8) and 43 (IS-4)?
Surely they don't reach these speeds all that fast but the new US heavies rush ahead of some mediums, the french do it anyway, only the germans are left with heavies that don't go faster than 30km/h and get no more than 246mm penetration either.
Not that the E-series seems really bad, it just feels like the devs are trying to make them superfluous or is there something I'm missing?
The next patch is for German tree. You can bet we see some stats being buffed.
And the IS4 is fast yeah. If they buff the front armour more like everyone is asking them to, then they should reduce its mobility some. Otherwise everyone will be shouting about how op it is.

They've been saying it all along, since before 7.1. After they announced the patching of the US tree and the USSR tree people starting asking them about when they were going to do the German tree, so they said it would be after the Russian patch since the German tree was by far the most 'complete' tree up until then.

I couldn't find a source but it's been mentioned a few times in YAWR and there's a bunch of topics (here's one (http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/topic/108300-new-german-td-line/)) about it in the forums. It's not 7.4 though. 7.4 is supposed to be a major update with new game modes and French tree additions. Most probably 7.5 or beyond. And it'll add a second German TD line.

Got the Obj 261 on the test server, and I must say I am terribly disappointed. I always had my doubts about USSR arty tree beyond S-51, and the 261 proved to be everything I had feared it might be.
The gun is more accurate but even with 100 % crew and additional equipment, it's nowhere near as accurate as people make it out to be. For instance using AP shells is still very chancy and HE shells obviously do lesser damage.
Furthermore the accuracy of the gun isn't all that useful unless one is very good at playing arty and can predict without fail as to where the shell should be aimed when the enemy tank is on the move. With all the new fast heavies doing that is next to impossible for me. With an inaccurate gun there was still a chance that the shell might land near the edge of the reticule and hit the target just as it got out of the circle, with an accurate gun I'm missing, badly.
So I'll most probably start on the US tree now at M7 Priest and try to get the T92 before the test ends.
Never tried the Soviet Arty class. But my experience with the German is that the GW Tiger and GW Type E were superb compared to Hummel and GW Panther.

Exactly. Big guns mean more splash and thus even if one does not hit some damage is done. With the 180 mm on 261 one needs to hit closer and although it is more accurate but not accurate enough.

The 107mm ZiS-24 is a sniper gun to be reckoned with. It easily penetrates the front of a Ferdinand and from quite a distance as well. It felt better than the 122mm M-62-T2 on the IS4. And it has 320 average damage, which is quite sweet on a sniper laser rifle like that. Too bad it has such a large profile. Hiding behind a smoking JagdTiger wreck did not cover its weak spots.
Yup aside from that cancerous baby turret on top it's a great tank. The gun is good and quite a few people are proposing that they make it the stock gun for the new IS4.

It feels like a KwK 45 L/100, but with much better damage. I took out a JagdTiger advancing on my position at quite the range, but I think I used gold ammo on that one :sneaky:

It penetrates where the BL9 will lose so much of its ballistic velocity that it bounces.
A IS7 got penetrated on the swamp map on the distance between hiding behind the mill close to the north base -> and the small hill that empties into the west town close to the swamp. BL-9 wouldn't even hit the IS7 at that distance. I guess since they have closed v1 of the test... that they have made some changes?
I would like to see the IS4 a little more agro and bouncy.

Quite a few of them can know English perfectly well they just choose not to speak(err....type) it. The other day near the end of a match where I was playing as arty, this one guy asks me to relocate since light tanks were converging at my position. I was so surprised and got so caught up in typing a reply that I got shot down :laugh4:

As a response to rajpoot and the 0.7.3 - I am not at all happy with the IS4, but that could just be the cultural difference of play on the international test server combined with the use of premium ammo. My shots bounce but I seem to take damage from every shot against me. I don't know, I think I am acustomed to the S70. Had a spin in the IS4 yesterday and I extinguished 3xT110 with it. Didn't need many shells either.

I did have a very fun game with my S-51 today. Just scored one kill, a JT which I killed in one, but damaged a few other tanks. But the crowning moment was near the end, when this AMX 13 90 managed to sneak past the other tanks. The game was as good as won, but he would've killed me. Except for the fact that he was reloading.
I shot and missed. Then he decided that he'd rather kill me and be done with it rather then wait for his reload to finish. So he comes rushing at me, full tilt, and rams me. And boom. Goes up in flames and dies. :laugh4:
Moral of the story, don't ram a 50 ton SPG, unless you know you're more heavily armoured.
I notice that with the upcoming 0.7.4 version, Overlord mentiones an auto loader on the french SPG Bat. Chatillon 155.
I wonder how that will be like? How many shells are we talking about and how fast is it between shots.
And ... most of all - how would this tank perform if you decide to play it like a TD?
My guess is it will have low raw damage (since it's 155 mm, maybe equal to the stock S-51 gun) but fairly accurate.

Basically like two Hummels. Considering that it'll be tier 8 and has to compete against the likes to T92 and GW Type E, I think this Bat Chat might for once be UP rather than OP.

All right I got to ask. How long does it take for the update to install for you guys?
I downloaded it manually and then installed it. Near the end it stops responding, and stays that way even after an hour.
Happens with all the updates for this game. I always end up downloading the entire client again which is very slow and take almost an entire day.
Very very aggravating.

All right I managed to install the patch. Closed everything else including my virus scan and eventually installed. But now the game is simply crashing on startup. :wall:
Yeah.. had the same thing with my install (patch) ... I had to check with the Task Manager, but finally it installed.
I have updated all my mods and after 3 battles (all in the IS8) I must say, this is truly a great tank. It beats the crap out of IS4. Well at least I have bloodied and killed several in the three matches I have played. Time will tell if it was just luck.
Yup I've got it running too. Reinstalled twice (did not put my foot in the cabinet after all).
The IS8 is good, and I've been penetrating IS4s with my BL9 all evening. Must say it's a lot more fun than the IS3 was.
It's specially fun since quite a few IS4s are running around with the D25T (TBH even I don't have the new gun ATM, but that's why I'm not playing my IS4) and they're just bouncing off me.
I used the launcher and watched a movie, afterwards it was done.
The IS-8 is great, even my Tier 7 M4 45 can penetrate it frontally with ease! Best Tier 9 ever, I saw some of them die within seconds if they weren't hiding in cover. :2thumbsup:

I had a brawl with two IS4s and my IS8 actually bounced some of the 268mm pen shots that came my way. I didn't find the IS8 that vulnerable when I played it last. But then again, the new gun is a shock gun that will probably do lots of internal damage on enemy tanks and they will try to flee more than take up the fight... inexperienced players, that is..
Also... if using gold ammo, you get 400mm penetration with that gun.
That must be the highest penetration gun in the game with gold ammo? Even the BL-10 with its 286 mm pen doesn't do more than 329 with gold ammo. And the M58 of the T110 doesn't do more than 381mm with gold ammo (269mm with regular, which is the highest pen Heavy).
[edit:] Thinking of it... that was probably why I hated playing in the test. If they used gold ammo, 400mm penetration would make swiss cheese of any tank in the game.

I noticed while looking at the tankopedia (http://worldoftanks.com/encyclopedia/tanks/)that there are two new Chinese vehicles there. the Type 62 (http://worldoftanks.com/encyclopedia/tanks/china/ch02_type62/) light and the WZ-111 (http://worldoftanks.com/encyclopedia/tanks/china/ch03_wz-111/) Heavy while the German premium JagdTiger was not there.
No, it's great as an enemy Tier 9!
And the new gun isn't a shock gun IMO, internal damage isn't dependant on the gun anyway. With 440 damage I don't see how it scares someone more than the S-70 with 490 damage or the really big guns with 560 or 750 damage, now those scare me!
The top hull of the IS-8 is okay, as is the turret front, but nowhere near invulnerable for a Tier 9. The problem is that the turret sides and the lower hull are easy to penetrate. Add to that the bad gun depression and you end up exposing your lower hull on quite a few maps. Not that I've played the IS-8 yet, I just know I hurt quite a few of them that way already.
Add to that that their high speed makes people likely to rush ahead and face 4 tier 9/10 tanks alone. :laugh4:
The two Chinese tanks are China only so far, we may get the WZ-111 last I heard but nothing about that seems clear, I thingk the Chinese also get a Golden Type 59 called Type 59G or so.
I suppose China's firewall doesn't let many screenshots of them out to the rest of the world so I don't even know whether it's really golden.

I don't know... I have 100% wins in the IS8 so far (yeah, I know... it inherited the IS4 stats, but that means my IS4 also have 100% wins :sneaky: ).
Maybe time will give me that reality. I haven't noticed that it has depression problems. Need to test this out more.
The gold Type is soo april fools. Having one will make you a laughing stock at the server. It deserves to be ridiculed.
They have also launched a new XVM mod with 0.7.3 and it gives you a cool stat at a more prominent place than before (truth to tell, I didn't notice it in any of the earlier editions): Your chance to win.. Not sure what the letters stands for, but the colours speaks for themselves. Red means bad MM, while green means good MM.
Apparently the m & k are two methods of calculating the chance to win. In the example under we had a 29% chance to win according to method m and a 33% chance according to method k. How they correlate to each other, I don't know.
But we lost that game.. barely. It was only their T34 against our Grille and SU-152, which had 13 hp left. The T34 just rolled in and took them both out.

I've been bouncing E75 shots all day in my IS8. Then one other med comes along and I die quickly. Really not a crowd control tank.
But then what USSR heavy can handle more than one comparable tier tank at the moment? Speaking for average players like myself, none, I think.
The IS7 has weak sides. The IS4 has a weak front.
The good thing about IS8 is that it can brawl in open when it has to, and in cover it can easily hold off two tier 9 heavies for quite a while, if it has the new gun.
Update to the XVM predicts chance of winning... basically XVM is full of crap. Husar and I was in a high tier brawl, but in low tiers ourselves and XVM promised a 94% chance of winning which we perfectly fumbled and lost. Now with those odds we should at least follow along to the last tank, but no... our team were pawned. I didn't even bother taking a screen to post at the XVM telling them their algorithm sux.
I don't feel bad losing in a Panther on an unfamiliar map, and I totally blame Husar for picking tier 7 :sneaky:
There is an obvious flaw in the XVM method... it does not consider the possibility that a player is not particular good in the tank he fields. Panther has been an aggravation for me since the day I bought it. Luckily it is now elite, and I don’t have to play it regularly. I do plan to get the Panther II, but I fear that it will greeve me. At least I should research the necessary modules before I get one (have already researched the upgrade suspension and will do the turret and long 88 before buying one).

After some very painful grinding of the M3 Lee (why did they even put that tank in there? It's like a 'punishment' tank) I finally got the M7 Priest and entered into the USA arty tree (I can almost taste the T92 now).
On the flipside I gave in and spent 20k free XP since I just could not grind the M3 Lee any longer. And now TBH the M7 priest is not as good as everyone said it was. Very accurate, but has just a 400 meter range with the stock gun and even when it hits, does negligible damage. I spent the day doing 12-24 HP damage when I hit tanks, which was rare.
I'll probably have to accumulate some more 4-5 k free XP and upgrade it, before I can do anything with it I think.
Had a very tense game in my M7 Priest. Tense and fun. Ended with me and the enemy M7 Priest dueling it out. I won.
I also realised I get very worked up. I could hear my heart beating lol.

I must say, doing new things in this game makes it vibrant and interesting. The event thing I linked to in an earlier post was actually great fun, even if I lost all but one game.
But it brought something new into the game and it was all training anyway - hence it didn't effect stats (if that is important to you :sweatdrop:).
I have since joined a clan, but are just casually involved.
Both the mentioned subjects here, introduced me to speaking (vocally) to the people you play with. The platoon with three people - is easy going and you can get good advice even from relatively low stats players.
The 15 aside teamspeak - is chaotic and few should talk. But tactics is best relayed in this way. Like 15 Types turning on the spot at the same time, looked cool, but could be done because someone cried- "they are ninja'ing our base". We didn't have to pay attention to the mini map.
The only weird I got was my wife raising an eyebrow when I started talking to the game... "Um... yes I am having a conversation with some of the players" and my youngest girl suddenly wanting to look at the players pictures (garage) "What do they look like, papa?".. "Um..I don't know and it is not really important in a game such as this." .. She wouldn't accept the logic in that.
That is why I tend to do all my gaming in the dark, in a closed room :clown:

We had two platoons from the same clan while the other team had 3 platoons from one clan (ok...2 platoons but 3 other players from the same clan).
I was all... "What are the odds of this happening?" But then I suspected foul play. Thinking a little more on this, I suspect that "3" platoons on voice chat coordinated the timing of pressing the Join Battle button and thereby increased the chances of entering the same game.
And we basically got into a Clan fight in Random. Slaughter was the result even though I got their Is7 :sneaky:
I must say that despite its drawbacks, the M7 Priest grows on you eventually.
While many games are frustrating with low tier tanks rushing and dying, game with tier 4 and above tanks tend to be fun, and I love irritating enemy heavies by constantly hitting them for 12-150 damage and chipping away their HP.
In my best game as yet I made some 800 XP, most of it earned by harassing a Tiger II.
Now I'm around 5k away from M41.
Unlocked and bought the M41. Could not bring myself to sell the M7. Too fun to sell.
The M41 feels like a higher tier arty. Big gun, rather inaccurate, sudden drop in ROF. But only a minor increase in damage, which is a let down. I shudder to think I'll have to grind this and the M12 with a 152 mm gun. I've become so used to doing 800+ damage with the S-51, that doing just 300-400 in higher tiers is something of a disappointment.
But liking the wide range of the gun. Once I have the new radio, should be good.

Lately I've been hearing a lot about this hidden stat which controls the how often do shots hit the center of the aiming reticule. A search on the forums just brought up a conspiracy thread about how the game uses a loaded dice, but nothing concrete.

I only tried the IS-6, with mixed results...
I thought it should be the russian Löwe but it's somewhere between the Löwe and IS-3 concerning armor, and IS-level penetration.
A bit disappointing IMO, the Matchmaking on the test server is also heavily shifted towards premiums of course so I would expect my results to be better than they would be on the actual server.
Not that interested in french arty and TDs at the moment.

Have Lorraine 155 50 right now. The only thing I can say about it is... Hummel but with amazing agility. Now that thing just moves like a Lorraine. Funny in a TD vs Arty 1vs1.
They think they have you out maneuvered with their fast traverse, but I just hit reverse when they shoot and they miss. They can only view in agony when I turn the 155 mm towards them and blow them to smithereens.
The 155 51 is next in line and finally it will reach the 1250 damage that GW Panther sports. HOWEVER... I find that it penetrates and I think it has on average 1 cm better penetration than the Germans.

No, this is the tier 7 arty. Lorraine 155 51 with 1250 damage instead of 950 which is on the Lorraine 155 50. The Bat is the Tier 8 Arty. Whether it has an auto loader or not I shall see... it states in-game that it has a ROF of 2.83

Just saw an Bat 155 in action.
It surely has a turret and a 3 shot auto loader. I stood next to it and saw it release 3 shells with seconds in between.

I have played with the Bat 155 a little and I must say... it will change the game as we know it. That goes for all the top french arties.
The Lorraine 155 (50/51) sports the 980 hk engine which makes it incredible agile and has a great top speed. the 155 51 has a great gun too. These tanks are formidable in an endgame. They can cross the map in no-time and take out quite heavy opponents.
Maus and other slow behemoths will fear the french top arties.
The Bat 155. Not as agile as its predecessor, but can reach a greater speed downhill. It has a full 360 turret, and don't need to move from its hiding position. It has not 3 shells in its auto loader but 4!!! It takes quite the time to reload those 4 shells and "Reload" takes a new meaning. But you can move fast over targets with a full clip... I took out 3 enemies camped on a ridge by just blowing them up one by one. BOOM, BOOM, BOOM. Poor sods. :sneaky:
You need to research tracks to be able to mount any equipment on it and it is quite sluggish without the engine and tracks upgrade.

And a 90mm gun with more penetration, the T15M2 or so, just too bad that the stock Pershing gets a better gun than that already so I guess the Super Pershing will be a bit like a KV-5 or so.
But most of all it looks super and has the super name of a super tank(-line)!!!
Sold a bunch of tanks, ready for the E-75. About 12-14k XP left to go, few 100k credits. With the special coming up I should be good to go (2x creds on Tiger H and Panzer IV among others).

WarThunder (Gaijin Ent.) has pretty much ruined World of Warplanes (Wargaming) for me. WoWP is like Blazing Angels, just way too arcadey and limited in scope. WT is closer to IL-2 Sturmovik. It's also going to have 5x as many planes, several modes from the start, difficulty settings, Britain and Japan from the start, bomber aircraft, 65x65 square km maps, cockpit view, etc. The list of things WT has that WoWP doesn't goes on forever.

You see the damage you caused in bright white numbers to the right of the HP bar.. also when a tank is burning, it accumulates. I saw a Tiger being hit by a smaller tank. The initial damage was not more than 200 hp, but it started a fire and the number ran wild stopping at 800 hp damage. It was really cool to watch.
In Jimb0's the damage number floats up from the HP bar, but it doesn't accumulate on fires. you just see lots of small numbers floating up.

Germany belongs, but they seem to like starting with two allies and one axis. IMO the Imperial Navy has a much stronger claim to the initial axis slot than Germany does. They had their own super ship in the Yamato (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_battleship_Yamato), but also aircraft carriers and stuff.

I'm surprised. I'm using the same gun as the KT right now yet I earn WAY more experience. I'm getting 700s on wins regularly, on a standard account. Suddenly the 20k+ for the suspension doesn't seem so huge.
Everything's bigger now. 7,000 credit fine for an AMX 13 90 running in front of me when I fired.

Using the long 88 again on the King Tiger for the first time since I unlocked the long 105, and I actually think it's more fun this way. You're not so worried about your 1,000 shots bouncing or missing so you can have some fun. Accuracy is better, 6 second reload and the pen is still good at tier 8. It's easier to hit weak spots with the accuracy and with the reload/shell cost, you get a lot more chances to hit them without worrying.
It appears they will be removing Komarin and Swamp from random map rotations in 7.4.
It's a pity, because both perfectly good arty maps. Excellent arty maps in fact when compared to the likes of Ensk.
But terrible maps for the tanks, at least Komarin. I'd rather ditch Malinovka than Swamp, but Komarin definitely has to go. It always ends up as a tedious game of chicken where each side sits motionless until someone is bored enough to move and be spotted.

Just tried the JagdTiger 88 in the new test version. I don't know... the kind of games it is thrown into needs special consideration for what to shoot at and where to aim. That KwK43 /71 just isn't powerful enough. I guess I have been spoiled too long with the tanks I normally drive. I had to switch to gold ammo for it to count on the battlefield. And it only damages 240 on average... that is what mediums do. That Behemoth needs better alfa hits.
That's a TD though. The King Tiger is near the front (unless there's a ton of 9s and 10s) with much easier shots at tank weak spots. If I pretended the KT was a TD I'd probably have the same opinion of the long 88 at tier 8 as you do. You need to be up there to make the shots count.

The JagdTiger 88 is 10 000 gold, while the IS6 is 11 800 gold.
I don't think they have added new camo to the 0.7.4 release.

1. Obviously the Bismarck is the BatChat of Battleships, thus it wins. ~;)
2. The JT with 88mm is undergunned, yes, thought so already when I first heard about it.
3. Yes, there are new camos, one for each faction, makes me want to be able to keep camos so much more, otherwise adding better ones after I already bought one is just a cruelty I will endure without paying again.

I did this weekend, and I must say this is another ball game all together. The teams you meet out there are extremely organized and you can't do any mistakes. That is, if you meet serious teams. Some of the clans we meet aren't able to field a full team and it becomes a near walkover. Other teams seems it is OK to field tier 8 tanks.
The most fun in clans are the training matches. I am in TROLL which is a multi clan imperium. It has several recruitment and casual clans and some more serious like TROII which actually own land. We often run Company matches, do synchronized starts which increases the chances of meeting, and it seems to work. The TROII are our top players and it is always satisfactory beating them in company matches.

I must say this is getting a little silly. The T-62 was made in the 1960s.....These tanks had the guns that made the old armour obsolete.
Unless they really nerf (from RL) them, they're going to make the 'lighter' heavies useless...(at least that's how I see it).
I mean right now, most tier 10 heavies aside from the Germans have mobility as their strongest point. What happens when a tier 10 med with only a small HP difference, a gun that's as good if not better, and a lot more mobility comes into the scene?
Anyway if they're doing tier 10 TDs I want my nuke arty. Atleast that thing was made in 50s.

In the 1960ies guns didn't make armor obsolete. It were the shells, the ammunition, HEAT ammunition would burn a hole into the thickest armors. That's why tanks like the Leopard 1 traded armor for mobility until ways were found to mitigate damage from HEAT shells.
First this was spaced armor, the Leo 1 got some spaced armor upgrades later on for that reason. The other, more effective counter was composite armor with ceramics in it, that in turn made the HEAT shells almost useless so today we're back to penetrators.
The difference being that a "penetrator" (actually KE penetrator compared to CE penetrator) penetrates using kinetic energy (speed and mass), this kinetic energy (KE) penetrator. HEAT shells are chemical energy (CE) penetrators, they have a core of, I think it was copper, that melts on impact and turns into a hot jet of molten metal that more or less ignores the thickness of the steel armor and just burns through, thus why heat resistant ceramics are so effective against it I guess.
TL;DR: As long as they don't introduce proper HEAT shells for the modern tanks, their guns are probably not that overpowered.

Apparently they will introduce a 2nd medium line in the German tree. A Porsche line which has the Leopard 1 at its top. We see the beginning of the branch already with VK3002DB.

I wonder what they will do with the German TD tree. They have already announced two branches of TDs with JagdTiger (tier 9) as top TD on one branch and the JagdPz E-100 (tier 9) as top on the other. Now they say that the Jgd E-100 will be a tier 10? We are missing two TDs here. a tier 10 in both branches, or tier 9.
They also said they have enough material for 4 german TD trees.
I doubt they will get a problem implementing four then.

I am having problems with winning games in the Panther II. But all in all, I like playing it because it kills. It is a killing machine.

I wonder how you can play the Panther II in such a way that it can steer your team into winning. I mean, this is quite easy in a IS7... your main job is to just wound or take out dangerous guns. And you lead... standing at the front taking the brunt of the punishment while your side kicks finishes off the leftovers and mortally wounded enemies.

Heavies take point. Mediums support. So I don't think you can do anything right from the start of match. Mediums start having an effect once the starting rush has slowed down and tanks have scattered.
Then you can start choosing targets and taking them out one by one.
As a Panther 2, I doubt you would come up on the top of the list many times so, if the top heavies screw things up, then more often than not, it's a lost cause.

I agree with rajpoot about mediums. The game is just heavily skewed towards heavies. IMO mediums are more fun to play but heavies are much more important to victory. Meds in high tier matches can have a huge impact on the outcome if they're platooned or somehow manage to wolfpack without platoons...you see it most often with Types. Don't worry so much about winning when you're alone in your Panther II. Just have fun with it, because its an easy tank to have fun with.
That said, my Panther II win rate after 129 battles is 55% while my King Tiger win rate is 46% after 277 battles, even with a 79% hit rate. Weird.
E-50 purchased. Considerably worse than the E-75 stock. 88mm L/71 just doesn't cut it at tier 9. The grind is going to be painful. It reminds me of being stuck with the short 88 on the Tiger.

Odd double post 2 hours apart
Somehow, I haven't had a single decent game since I've installed this patch. For one there's a huge drop in framerate for some reason. Been playing at 5-6 FPS.
Add to that the sudden jump in arty players and the new game modes. If I end up on the defending side in an assault match as arty, might as well as quit, because it'll be a short game......plus none of my mods are working.
Really taken out the fun from the game ATM.
I heard reports about bad pings, but not bad framerates.
Luckily I've not had any of that myself so far.
The new game modes seem good to me, won a defense on Malinovka as the last arty/defender with my SU-14 and got a medal for winning alone against 5 or more opponents. ~D
On attack I've had a different experience where we could have won had some people (a KV-5 of all things) not insisted to camp on a hill instead of shooting that ISU from behind that was holding me hostage behind a rock when we had about three or two minutes left.
I do however like the new interface changes as Sigurd described earlier. Sounds and interface seem quite improved.

Malinovka has forests so I guess it can work out. I ended up on top of the hill in Prokhorvka in one. Team did best to keep them at bay, but apparently tanks on the tracks can spot stuff on the hill.
Six artillery each side. The moment that Maus climbed up the tracks all of us were lit up like a Christmas tree. Match ended within next three minutes.
About the FPS, I think it's a bug, due to which the game is using more resources. It works OK on lowest setting with point filtering, but it looks terrible....

I can't even enjoy my Hummel and the new top gun I just got because EVERY. SINGLE. DAMN. ROUND. my terrible braindead team lets something through that finds me and kills me. I'm not joking, I haven't lived more than 2 minutes since I got the top gun for the Hummel and it's not my fault. This is freaking infuriating. Hitting a T-50-2 isn't rocket science. It was one of my favorite things to do in a Tiger II because it was so easy. It's like these people don't understand how pings work and what the concept of leading a target entails.
It's kind of like matchmaking where...what more can you say about bad players ruining everyone's fun? But you can't help but continue raging over it because it never gets better, like matchmaking. They need to make a tutorial and make people pass an accuracy test for each tank before being allowed to use it in pub games. It's the only way.

Its not as much as some light getting through, but I just can't win games in an arty. Sure I damage enemy, getting 2+ kills, splash multiple enemies capturing our base... and even the odd tank vs. arty peekaboo. I am doing what an arty is supposed to do. Supporting advancing allies and dodging counter fire. My team isn't winning... I have to run multiple battles of Type and IS7 to even out the win/loss ratio. I want to grind that GWPanther to GWTiger...
But I would also like to keep my 50% winratio.. maybe advance it to 51%. Playing arty is not helping in that regard.
In play arty for the credits and because it's mostly relaxed, but also don't have such huge win/loss problems.
The ratio IS actually worse/bad, but it's not like I feel I can contribute more to a victory with my Panther for example.
It's weird now that I think about it, but how often do you enjoy getting through and blowing the other team's arty up?
Personally I'm appalling at hitting fast moving targets, so apologies if I let a T50-2 through to kill you in your Hummel.

I had my first shot at actually getting land yesterday and I must say, playing in clans with people you know is superior to any other game mode in WoT.
Usually we only get as far as to the final before we lose, but this time we got a shot at the land owner. It was a close call.

Our tactic was to try to cap. This needs luck and good coordination. Unfortunately we weren't that coordinated. The idea is to arrive at their base in groups. One capping group and one harrying group. The cap group makes a wall against the defenders, which will shield the cap. The other group tries to occupy the attention of the defenders. With the new Match maker... Playing tier 10 is getting seriously close to the setups you find in CW.. except there are no tactics.
In time, I think CW players in tier 10 randoms will recognize eachothers tactics and will act accordingly.
Having chatted with many of my clan mates, some of them carries gold in random matches... not much. 4-5 shells for a tight spot as they say.

I am looking all over for the connection of 0.8.0 and introducing physics. Something tells me they are unsure if it will be released with that particular update. Overlord says they hope for early autumn on physics, but will be releasing 8.0 with dynamic lighting (all though he says 8.0 early autumn).
Don't get too disappointed if it is not in the 0.8.0 update.
It seems the German tanks might get some advantages with the new physics.
Maus being able too push anything off the map. I am particularly interested in the effect E50 ramming will have.
Some drawbacks would be E50 not being able to stop and slide off the map... I can just picture it. Some Russian tank sits on the edge of a map. E50 wants to ram it - the Russian moves away just before the impact... and the E50 can't stop or turn...

To be honest it's mostly the shiny new graphics and interface changes like the new post battle screen I'm looking forward to.

I wish they would clarify as to what all will the implementation physics do. Up till now all I've heard about is the change in how tanks drive and ram.
But will it affect artillery shells? Will it affect penetration if a tank is rushing at you and you shoot it in front?
And what about tracks and damage due to high speeds? I mean say a tank rushes down hill at full tilt, will it cross its top speed and cause the tracks to get damaged?
So many questions....

I had a look at the video and it all loooks nice but I think the physics will be better, no more land trains (Sig :P) and being able to dodge that E50 and watch it tumble off a cliff will be hilarious, just think of all the tears when it happens.

Huh? The only broken bridge in that video is already broken at match start.
As for your earlier questions, I doubt speed of the tanks affects penetration, wouldn't make a huge difference anyway.
As for breaking top speed, doubt it, your tracks do break if you jump down too deep though.
And as good as the new physics may look, they only do so because of the lovely new lighting!

Darn, nevermind, the tank is not falling through the bridge but is colliding with another tank and it's rear part is lifting up. Made it appear as though its nose is going down. My bad.

As someone who was recently struggling with lower tier German tanks in order to get to the Pz4, my advice is scout hope you survive the battle.
Lower tier German armour seems pretty awful TBH. Nothing that can be done about it.

And yes, low tier german tanks aren't the best, what you can do with a Pz III A is either scout or wait for other tanks to engage and then try to flank. Haven't played one in ages though.

Just got me a Pzr III/IV. First decent tank I've had since I started 2 weeks ago. I nearly packed in when I shot a KV 1 30 times with my Pzr III A and everyone bounced off. Then he saw me.......
Oh the tank destroyers are a nice change. I like it when my Hetzer with it's 105mm cannon takes out anything below a Pzr III with one shot. Payback time....

You really need to try it in a Platoon, don't tell Hus I said this but he is quite good and he'll show you the ropes, whereas I'll show you how to Charge and die, Fiz will show you how to hurl abuse at, well, everyone and Sig will show you how the experts play.

Grind those babies. I only have the Tetrarch in low tiers (tier 2). I am SigurdOrg (http://worldoftanks.eu/community/accounts/500269242-SigurdOrg/) on WoT.
Looking at my stats, I had 47 games in the PzIII Ausf. A with 32 wins. That's like a 68% win rate.
I think you just need to get it fully upgraded with the 50 mm gun and top turret/tracks/engine/radio. 100% crew will do the trick. This tank needs to move all the time.. flank enemy and shoot them in the side and/or back while you move.
With 24 rounds a minute on that gun you should be able to deal considerable damage. The PzIII was fun and the PzIV is the one I have kept in my garage since I got it. I still take it out once in a while.
But beta taught me one thing... Russian is the way to go if you want heavies.
BUT... I think it will be harder now then it was for us... in our time I think the T28 (rus) had a 85mm derp that could one shot a PzIII
KV was the big dread of tier 5 games... But in our day... that baby came with a 152mm derp gun or the 107mm killing machine.
Today it has moved to the tier 6 KV-2, but then you could be in a german half heavy: VK36 with a 105mm semi derp of your own or a 88 mm precision tool.

KV-1 rocks, get that and become INVINCIBLE
It certainly doesn't hurt to play two or three trees at the same time. That way you can jump into another tank when you die and also pool the money you earn. Especially if you don't want to pay for premium but get to the higher tiers it can pay off to have some tier 5 or 6 tanks that make more money.
And please, I'm not good, I just chose to go up the best tank tree in the game. ~;)

It is so much more beneficial for platoons that you can do live chat when you play games. I would love to hear the scottish of Ja'chyra, the germaninglish of Hus and the northeren drawl of IA. Not to forget the insane ravings of Faisal or resident noble.
And I bet you would have a laugh at my Norweginglish plonkin' in a tenor's voice. Maybe you'll learn some Norwegian swearing in the process. :sneaky:
The PzIII was fun and the PzIV is the one I have kept in my garage since I got it. I still take it out once in a while.
I am having a whale of time with mine these days.
It wasn't much fun earlier but since I got the long 75, it's been awesome. The gun has subpar damage, but has a fast reload and for me coming from the USSR tree, is more accurate than I could've hoped for. If team has good scouts, I sit back and snipe. Otherwise with a bit of judgement it works just as well in face to face encounters.
Plus it can reliably penetrate up to tier 7, unless I start shooting blind, and there are fun moments like a KV2 coming at you with the derp, missing the shot, and then making a futile attempt to flee while reloading.

You have already learnt about the joys of the PIII/IV, the finest medium of it's tier (IMO) so all is well.
Just remember that it may not be worth going to far along the German tech tree because the upper tiers are a bit iffy (Tiger II and Panther II are apparently worthwhile). As always though the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
Personally I have a number of tech trees on the go with a preference for fast but punchy vehicles.

Nah, the Tiger is ok once you get used to it and teh TD's aren't too bad.
I have an E-75 and it's a good tank. Especially compared with the IS-8, which is fast(in driving, not reload...) but nothing else.
The Germans esp suffer stock disease.. and you will have to suffer expensive upgrades to get a decent tank.
But when they finally reach the full potential, they are great.
This baby is near fully upgraded and is a sweet tank (I lack the suspension, but cheated by buying the equipment one to be able to mount the other great stuff).
I met a T54 the other day and took him out E50 style, by first ramming into it at full speed - damaging it severely and then put a 105mm shot up its .... as a parting gift.

I had a first run of the 0.8.0 test and I must say, it is hilarious. The tank trains helping other tanks getting up a hill... the power struggle on a bridge: who pushes who into certain death.

Also note in the above the improved fps. I usually am around 20 - 30 with spikes to 40 on good days. Even though the graphics is dumbed down a little for physics testing, I could live with such graphics over improved fps (very smooth turret traverse).
I noticed even when I put everything on max in settings, the fps was still high.

Co-incidentally just the other day I'd been thinking that I hadn't had this much fun since the original KV with 107 and then that got nerfed, so how much longer till the Pz4 lasts.
I also tried it tonight.
The weird thing with the graphics is, maxed out they lag and stutter even on my GTX 460, but while the lighting is better, the textures and models and sharpness all seem worse. I really hope it's just for the physics testing and those are not the real high quality textures(the camos and the track texture for the SuperPershing are missing as well) for the final 8.0. Or maybe max settings have some depth of field or other superfluous effect that makes half my screen look washed out, hard to tell with half the options being in kyrillic and russian.
The physics are nice however, only downside is the engines all seem a little weaker, or at least I realized how undermotorized the Type 59 really is. On the bright side the IS-8 could scoot over the terrain quite nicely, maybe the physics upgrade will favour it a bit by giving it really superior mobility on the new maps. Might finally make it somewhat useful. ~;) (It also still looks really good compared to the AMX 50 100 for example, where the texture is really unsharp in this test)
I'm glad the Pz IV was turned into a real tank and isn't an obvious choice over the Pz III/IV because of the gun anymore.
Noticed the new IS-4 model as well, it weirded me out. Is that a buff or a nerf anyway?
Oh and I noticed that apparently only the flat lower part of the tracks gives propulsion because when I maneuvered in a way that only the very front and rear of my tracks would touch the ground while the large lower part was in the air, I could hardly move and didn't seem to have traction, I hope they solve that because it happens quite often when you go downhill or through a ditch etc.

I don't know.. maybe the Type has better torque than say.. the T62A. I saw a pushing match between a Type and a T62 and the Type was able to push the T62 backwards on flat grass.
I couldn't even climb minor-looking hills with mine and it didn't seem nearly as agile and fast as in 0.7.5. :shrug:
Turning post-processing off also increased the graphics quality a bit, it's been said though that the graphics engine is indeed relatively rough in this test.

While I don't mind the extra camouflage, but I guess why people find it more of an issue than gold rounds is because even premium players rarely use gold rounds in pub matches because of the cost. The paint though is a one time payment thing, and a lot of people will be using it.

Also consider that a lot of the bigger tanks will only get a somewhat noticeable camouflage value if you have a camo net, all crew with 100% camo and a camo applied. And as I said, anyone can grind for camo, noone can grind for gold ammo. That hardly anyone uses gold ammo regularly is a blessing though.

Anyone who has paid gold for camo now, will get it refunded.
Each "theme" is purchased separately. So if you say only bought the Desert camo, when you join a Summer or Winter map, your tank would stay it's default color. Each theme will have a nice selection to choose from, but it won't rotate through those camos. You choose pattern from each theme and you will always have that pattern when you join a map related to the pattern.
Please keep this discussion on topic guys. It's about camo changes with 8.0. This totally isn't the place to be talking about Russian bias.

it's a 5% camo bonus, 5% is so minor, it means you are visible maybe a few meters later. I've had a camo net and quite a bit (maybe even full) camo skill for my Ferdinand and JagdTiger for example and still felt like a lightbulb in a darkroom.
The chance that you win a game purely because of those 5% is probably below 0.5%.
That's assuming they don't start adding all kinds of similar gold-bonuses from now on, but keep in mind that the camo bonus was initially planned for camos anyway and quite a few people were disappointed when it wasn't there at first.
Not to forget that camo can be temporarily purchased for credits so the bonus isn't exclusive for people who spend gold anyway.

All of the above have about the same influence of turning the game ptw as does 5% camo, so where's the difference, 5% camo in no way makes your tank invisible, especially if you're arty when all you need to do is move your tracks and you light up like a Christmas tree.
Oh, and your points about gold ammo etc are plainly not true. Skipping grind and earning extra credits and xp mean you'll progress through the upgrade trees much quicker then your oppo who isn't on premium, so it's even more advantagious then a measly 5% camo.
I don't get the hate for this change, it's not as if they are saying you can buy an extra 200mm armour plate to bolt on wherever you like, or being able to design your own tank from all the parts available (Which might be quite cool).
