you think you're ringtone is embarassing? mine, while funny as all hell in the right company, is downright embarassing in more formal company:
(skip to to 0:48 and thats where my ringtone starts)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ew06J05pkk
:laugh4: That must be really bad in formal company!
My ringtone is "Am I Evil" b Diamondhead (starts at 3:27) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbgv587ooNM)
Some nice, classic metal.
Standard Nokia tune me so oldschool :laugh4:

Nothing wrong with that.

Done, sadly. I am now too spoiled as Uncharted 2 sets a standard. Incredibly good game. Can't wait for part trois to see what kind of trouble Blake gets himself in next time, No one lives Forever and Uncharted should get married, damnya I can't aim if I'm laughing. Why can't more games be funny.

Decided to stop playing demon's souls as it simply eats up too much time. So now I am back down to EUIII every once in a while.
Anyone played DeathSpank? It's pretty awesome.

I went back to playing Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.
I havent played that game in three years. I didnt like it at first because it was too tactical and you died too easily, and I was used to COD-type games where tactics didnt really matter.
But now that Im slightly more mature, Im really appreciating GRAW. Its hard, but a very fun game. Lots of tactics involved (though I wish the cover system was better for the PC version), and Im enjoying firefights a lot. I mean, in other games firefights are quick and painless and are usually over with quickly, but here they are prolonged, and you need to use cover a lot to survive. Just recently in the 2nd mission, one firefight in the town square took my a full eight minutes to clear out the square since I had to move slowly and clear out all the enemy fighters using my team and flanking maneuvers.
The physics in the game feel real. When an enemy is killed, he doesnt fall with any ridiculous ragdoll animations (at least not that Ive seen so far). The graphics are nice, for a game that was made in 2007 (I think).
Anyhow, I must say, surprising a group of enemies and taking them down with a few well-placed shots before they can react is rare, but extremely satisfying when it happens.
A truly excellent modern tactical shooter.
Started over with Assasins Creed 2. It's really way too easy, being caught is an inconvenience. Grab enemy, slit throat, repeat untill they are all dead no matter how many there are, use medicine when you are about to die, there isn't anything more to it. Having to face 3 enemies should be certain death in a stealthgame, easily butchering up to 20 is just wrong. The stealth-mechanics are really solid but it really hurts the game never having to use them. I want to sit on a rooftop having to watch paterns, I want the need to plan a strategy.
The Thief 4 team should steal some of AC2's ideas as the gameworld and how you get around in it is awesome, but vica versa dito being reckless should be punished harsly unless you are really lucky. Could have been a stellar game, pity

as in, original GRAW?
I liked it sorta. I still had a PS2 when I played, thats how long ago it was. But as I recall, I could never get past some mission (I think it was the last one) at some train station. IIRC it was a glitch, I needed to killall the bad guys, but I did and it still didnt let me finish. eh.

IIRC, the one time I played any campaign of GRAW II (Xbox admittedly), it wasn't too hard. in fact, if you stick to cover I dont rememeber it being dificult at all.

Well, GRAW for PC is much more difficult since the cover system isnt as developed as the xbox version, plus its not 3rd person for PC.

You are going to be disapointed with GRAW2, dumbed beyond recognision, all tactical aspects removed in favour of a lineair shooting gallery. There are two excellent expansion for GRAW that take you to the desert and the tropics, get these instead, they still look incredible and still had a rabid internet community (who will tear you apart) last time I checked.
Started playing Enslaved, reminds me of Beyond Good&Evil but without the stealth. Being reminded of B G&E is ALWAYS a good thing. Shame it didn't sell

Starcraft 2 campaign (mostly finished I think)
Battlefield Bad Company 2 campaign (not that great, may just give up and play multiplayer)

People have asked me to to play Starcraft 2, Civ 5, a cool Mount & Blade warband mod called Mount & Musket, Left4Dead2
I've been meaning to play some TF2 and the borderlands GOTY I got in the steam sale
I've been currently playing World of Tanks
I need like a month off from work.

I'm almost done with Assassins Creed: Brotherhood.
Overall it was a very good game, I liked the whole shop renovation, aqueduct building, and landmark buying thing, those were really cool. Probably the best part though is making your own Assassins Guild in Rome.
After you get your first few recruits, you are able to call them in to aid you in battle (or even get them to assassinate someone you cant reach or need dead before you get your guy. or just for coolness). They are capable of being sent out on missions across Europe, and even to Calicut and Constantinople, to fulfill contracts aiding the Brotherhood (like attending a Templar ball, removing an informant, turning someone to our side, etc.) as well as several story-driven missions (which are my favorites), such as a whole storyline about ruining Isabella of Spain's inner circle, and finally assassinating her, helping Henry VII of England against the Yorks, and recovering lost information from a misssing Assassin in Moscow.
You are then able to upgrade the Assassins when they gain new levels, which doesn't feel too fast or too slow, eventually up to the point where they become full Assassins, capable of taking down any enemy you send them against.
Other than some new gameplay mechanics though, it is basically AC2 with extra stuff. But IMO there is enough extra stuff that it warrants its own game. Plus there's MP, which I'll be playing after I beat the campaign.

Wait, there are expansions for GRAW? I thought there were only for the original GR, not GRAW.
Anyways, Im about halfway through GRAW, and Im really wishing there was a better save system. Fighting your way to the objective just to die just as you are about to achieve it and have to start all over from the last objective is really, really, annoying. But also worth it because it gives me more playing time and chances to perfect my "style."

Anyway, Metal Gear Solid 4 is incredible. I already know that he won't survive it this time, trailer-wisdom. Poor Snake, we have known eachother since I got a MSX2, but now he's old, tired, and probably has 1 year to live at best (cancer?). Kinda funny how that makes it all the more epic, cleverly done can't wait to see how they wrap things up. Well that was about the intro level. Think I'm going to enjoy this.

It was billed as a spiritual successor to System Shock 1 & 2, and (apparently) it failed to live up to those games. I never played them because 1) they're old and 2) the parts of one of them that I watched in a "Let's Play" sequence convinced me I'd be too scared to get through it.
Uh-huh, I can honestly say that the most inspiring entertainment I enjoyed wasn't a book, wasn't a movie, was a game called System Shock 2. A truly haunting game. Might not have the greatest plot-twist ever but it's certainly the most memorable. It was also brutally hard making what was already scary borderline unbearable. People who played it still get jumpy when they hear monkeys. Best game ever made second only to Thief. Maybe I could have enjoyed Bioshock more if it didn't remind me all the time of what isn't, it isn't a bad game, but not being 'bad' screams in the face, It just isn't brilliant
Something has gone terribly wrong, and you are so very very alone.
And screw 'it's old', rebirth mod makes the graphics really nice, nothing can draw you in like the Dark-engine, you can almost touch and smell the place, feel it's temperature. And the sound is still unmatched by anything even today. Get it play it love it, join us.

In shadow of the collosus it's hard not to feel like the bad guy, you don't really want to slay them, you feel sad rather than victorious when you down them, they meet an horrible end for no real reason. Most of them don't even really attack you. Work of art yeah.

Oh yeah, I started playing Assassins Creed Brotherhood's Multiplayer yesterday after finishing the campaign, and I have to say I really enjoy it.
I don't understand how others simply are not as good; in every game I've played so far except 1 where I was constantly spawn killed (bad luck tbh) I've finished 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.
I guess I just grasp the concept better than others? I usually get stealth kills, mainly getting detected only when I find out I'm being chased. I guess I'm just naturally good at it, like BC2 (usually 1st or 2nd there as well).
MGS4 = best in series. The previous ones aren't really steath-games but games about stealth. You no longer get an isometric overview of the surroundings the camara is typical third person shooter, MGS 4 is much more challenging because it. AI is probably the best I've ever seen, they will find you unless you ghost your way through (on hard at least, they have excellent eyesight and enviromental awareness, really tense, as a stealthgame should be. The graphics also really help drawing you in, world and motion capture is full of detail, they really put a lot of effort in the presentation. I love to hate the robots, they are terrifying, have only encountered them in the opening sequence I played through 10 times at least. Was hiding on second floor and the thing grabs the ledge and hauls itself up, checks out the room, finds me. Had to put the controller down for a while. Good stuff.

I tried World of Warcraft for the first time last night on the 10 day trial period. Does this make me a bad person? :laugh4: It wasn't too bad of a game. My Dungeons & Dragons buddies (of 30 years) and I had stopped playing D&D as it was too hard to get together to play due to our family lives and being separated by about 50 miles, and we were looking for an alternative. We've been playing some Dungeons & Dragons Online for the past year, and while fun, it was lacking and restrictive in some respects. WoW seems to address some of my DDO issues, though it is a bit too comical and comic book-like (graphically) for my personal taste. Still not a bad first outing. We shall see if I become a WoW fanatic. Still, the main part is the social interaction and RPGing with my friends.
On other fronts, I started playing Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii this past week and it could be entertaining, though, I'm not a great fan of the Japanese style RPG (Tolkien-esque RPGs are my favourite). I also got Lego Harry Potter and Ghostbuster: The Video Game both for the Wii as well and will probably play them cooperatively with my (23 year old) daughter. I'm planning on buying Starcraft 2 in the coming days now that I have a PC that can handle games made in the past five years. :laugh4:
I'm trying to get my gaming life back in order (if you can't tell). I consider myself a gamer yet I've been talking about games more these past few years than actually playing games. :shame: 'Tis time to Game On!! :2thumbsup:

Havent played much Sniper Elite, but its hard, and I like how theres a headshot bullet cam.
Hitman: Blood Money is also fun, but also hard. Sneaking isnt as refined as I would like it to be, and you cant aim very well. Plus its very hard to sneak up on someone, since they seem to have miraculous vision or something and they catch you often. But at least you can go in guns blazing or you can sneak around.

I always felt that BM was better on the consoles. The controls definitely had a smoother feel than the computer. Also, for Sniper Elite, go for leg or lung shots. It will tell them that you are there but the friendlies will run over to pick the guy up, giving you more kills.

I always felt that BM was better on the consoles. The controls definitely had a smoother feel than the computer.
Oh for sure. I saw footage of it being played on a console and its much easier to sedate/strangle someone on the console than it is with the PC version. With the console version, you only have to be generally behind the target, but with the PC you need to be in a specific spot, which really annoyed me so I just switched to using my pistol with a silencer unless I needed to use other methods.
But yea, its frustrating at times on the PC.
Speaking of which, I beat the game today, Silent Assassin for all levels. Now time to have some fun and become a terrorist.
Beat MGS4, with Uncharted 2 and Demon's souls the games for the ps3 you simply must own. I hope that they one day will make remakes of it's prequels with the new tight controls (and they simply can't get away with not including the MSX2 versions), it's certainly is the best one because of them, both the stealth and gameplay are sooooooooo much more satisfying. Of course it is traditionally extremely silly and overblown, and it knows it. The stupid jokes feel completely out of place as usual, it's full of intense drama and then something absolutely stupid happens. New players won't understand the game's many oddities but fans will, the MGS games are made by complete lunatics who sacrifice realism for fan-service. And as a fan service it's simply a love letter. 9/10 instead of 10 because some parts drag on just a little bit too long, and I can't believe I'm saying this, the hair looks ps2'ish, like a helmet, it distracts from an otherwise flawless presentation. It really does CQC me

Ok my "official" review of Combat Mission: Shock Force.
When I first heard about this I was thinking "oh awesome! A modern combat sim!" But when I installed the demo and started the training mission, I immediately thought "what did I get myself into?"
But an hour or so of reading the manual and various user-made guides that I found on the official forums, I quickly got a hand on the game, and was beginning to take baby steps in becoming a good commander.
You also learn a lot on the forums. Not just through the guides, but through interaction.
Most people on the forums are either in the military or was in the military.
As a result, you get to talk to people who really know their stuff, and can guide you through proper procedure for taking a heavily fortified house (smoke screen, APC brings troops close by with either machine guns or AFV laying down suppressive fire, order troops to disembark and then order troops to storm the house and secure it. Then depending on position, order AT squad and snipers to the roof where they can provide overwatch for your soldiers as they get back in the APC and the process repeats itself, though not without potential surprises. Nothing ruins your day like an IED!).
I had an ex-artillery officer explain to me the different methods for using artillery to suppress the enemy and to keep your positions and movement concealed.
A mechanized infantry officer explained some concepts of recon and spotting AT positions without getting blown up.
Overall, its an excellent game. When it comes to an RTS, its AI is excellent, bar none. What I love is how realistic this game is. You need to abide by an ROE, and disobeying it means you lose points which means you might lose. Units have command and control, which means that the closer different units stick together (in the staying in visual/audio range) the better they will perform.
But the real gem, IMO, is when during a night battle and the tracers are flying and the fires are burning and you hear radio chatter, you can zoom far out and watch it all happen and really get this sense of epicness.
So my recommendation is that for someone who can handle a steep learning curve and stick with it, by all means get this game. It truly is something amazing.

Give it more time. It does, after all, have a very steep learning curve.
Do you mean the "Going to town" scenario?
Not all objectives are the same. Some you only have to touch, some you need to keep troops in, some you need to do no damage to.
Its kinda complicated, sometimes I have that problem too.
EDIT: Also, are you sure you checked all the buildings/all the levels in the complex? Its possible that a unit was hiding there.

You can always do a cease fire. Then the game stops and the score is calculated.
Can't remember the scenario, but just because you have troops there does not mean you will get a notification, nor that the game will stop unless the AI surrender because of losses or time running out.
Combat Mission looks awesome, is it just me or is the pc becoming interesting again

I tried World of Warcraft for the first time last night on the 10 day trial period.
Tolkien-esque RPGs are my favourite.
I'm planning on buying Starcraft 2 in the coming days now that I have a PC that can handle games made in the past five years. :laugh4:
:
Hi,
Get away from WoW while you can. Seriously, I mean it. I had it like you, a bit cartoonish but not too bad - you will get sucked in and it will take your time away!
If you enjoy Tolkien RPGs, i can recommend lord of the rings online. It's more appealing than WoW and more focused on RPG elements, quests and storylines - even join an RP server for max RPG profit. Also it has a more mature crowd than 12 yo wtf, l33333t and luuuz boys from WoW.
Also, if you wanna play SC2 with me, send me a PM. Would be great fun.

Bought Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood.
Its a good game, but for me, unplayable because of one thing: the aiming.
No aiming is as bad and as shaky as in BiA:EiB. I mean yes they are going for realism, but I have fired weapons before and while in the first few seconds the aiming is shaky, after those first few seconds you stabilize and you can fire more accurately. There should be little/no sway after around 10-15 seconds. But no, in this game, there is considerable sway no matter how long you stand still.
After a few hours spent on the first few missions (which I got past with dumb luck and being able to get up close with the enemy, not being able to accurately aim even decently well is awful for a game in which most engagements are at medium/long range.
Yes, there are aiming mods but they dont help much.
So Im putting this game away until I either I can find a mod that eliminates gun sway after a few seconds or I am really bored one day and feel like getting frustrated with a game.

Intermittent Bad Company 2 (which, I recently discovered, has freakin Attack Helicopters I can own everybody with), Fallout: New Vegas, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.
Loving all 3 of them. One thing I really enjoy about Bad Company 2 is that there is no single gun that pretty much beats all others. For example, in Black Ops, pretty much 90% of the people you meet will agree that the AK74U (noobiest, most overpowered gun ever) is probably the best gun. And 99% of the time, thats unfortunately true, and 99% of the people online use it all the time.
But in BC2, you can use just about any gun for anything, to a realistic limit. And by that I mean that you will never find a game where everybody is using the AN94 or the M416, though they are common weapons. You will always have people who use wide varieties of guns. And none of them are really overpowered.
Plus vehicular warfare, especially helicopters, is always a win. I just love helicopters, in fact prior to this I wanted to be a Marine Corp Pilot, so being able to pilot helicopters like this was just right up my alley. But what does make me really angry is when some noob takes the helicopter, thinking he's a good pilot, and then proceeding to:
A) Instantly crash it
B) Crash it in a minute or so
C) Fly into the heaviest storm of anti-air fire and get shot down easily
D) Stay aloft for a long time, but also get no kills and just be generally useless to the team while I get angrier due to my not-in-a-helicopter-ness.
But when I do get the helicopter and a good gunner, oh baby they better watch out. Hopefully I can do half as good when I try it for real.

Just beat Call of Pripyat.
The last mission was pretty underwhelming TBH. Despite the supposedly extremely heavy fire from Monolith forces, no cover was required nor used by the A.I., which meant I couldn't bunker down for an epic last defense while the helicopters landed, as it shoulda been.
I mean the ending was just very underwhelming, I had over 700 rounds for my G36, 11 40mm grenades for the AN94's grenade launcher along with over 400 rounds for the gun itself, over 60 rounds for my Dragunov, over 70 batteries for my Gauss rifle, everything totally tricked out so I could have a chance on max difficulty against the hordes of Monolith attacking me.....and I ended up with a few less batteries, about 60 less 5.56 rounds, and I think 4 less sniper rounds. I mean, the start of it has zombies attacking, ok, that makes sense start off with weakest guys. I spent barely any ammo on them. then a couple snorks attack you, still used barely any ammo. then suddenly you see the helicopters, your guys run straight to it, and there is no tactical maneuvering.
I just wish the final battle was a little more epic. even on max difficulty it was a cakewalk.
Heres how it shoulda been:
You and your squad go between those 2 buildings, and immediately come under heavy fire. You are pinned down so much that the Colonel sends you out with Strelok to flank the guys on the left, and you must take all of them out. After you dispose of them, you must fight your way halfway across the courtyard, at which point you have to hold out until the helicopters arrive to land (of course in this scenario they haven't yet landed, and are being kept at bay by Monolith fire). Once they land, you then make a mad dash for the helicopters.
That would be a truly epic ending. It really is a shame how bad the ending was, considering how good the rest of the game was.

I just ran out of ammo for my assault rifle in a dark vault so have to rely on shotgun and pistol.
Only problem is the knife and the bayonet on the shotgun don't seem to have any real combat use, all the monsters I engaged with them killed me.
Then again that makes it scarier...

Have you gone up against those librarian things yet? It took me most of my ammo to take one down and it turned out it was supposed to die a scripted death if I ran away.
Haha, yes, I have, they all needed a lot of ammo, don't think I ever really ran away.
In the next level (way to D6) though I managed to waste more than 400 bullets for the assault rifle on the monsters that inhabit it, they don't look exactly like librarians but seem to be just as strong. :help:

Gave up on the first at the astroids shooting part, was great fun until there. Survival horror as it should, was constantly desperate for ammo and healthpacks, and the DISGUSTING enemies are fast and deadly. Might pick the sequel in a few, new releases go on budget in notime.
BUT without any splash they released Killzone 3. Killzone 2 is one of the most brutal and realistic (despithe the scifi-settings) hardcore as :daisy: military shooters I have ever played, a relentlessly hard seemingly neverending series of memorable battles against a frightingly intelligent enemy. Call of Duty is a shooting gallery no tactics required. These guys will actually go all SWAT on you (paying attention Hooah and Pruissian) and will adopt to your tactics every time. It really feels like being in a hellish warzone

not until you mastered the art of melee in deadspace  actually, if you pay enough attention (or if you are rather melee maniac), just let the necromorph came up close dodge their attacks (you need to play 3 or 4 days to master this, actually) and just rip their limbs with anything you have in hands. of course meleeing explosive enemies is certain suicide.

I got a PS3 a couple of weeks ago so I've been playing a whole raft of games:
I finished Heavy Rain within 30 hours of getting the console, and absolutely loved it. The storytelling was amazing and the game itself was highly innovative. LA Noire should be interesting, being along the same sort of lines.
Read Dead Redemption I think is a bit overrated. I'm impressed by the game's world and the characterisation but the gameplay itself just seems a bit thin (autoaim for instance is incredibly irritating and makes the game very easy, though being Rockstar I shouldn't have expected fully manual aiming).
Resistance: Fall of Man is a bit of an old-school original Medal of Honour style game that is showing its age a bit. I've been playing through the Co-Op campaign with my girlfriend and I have to say it has been a lot of fun, given that there are so few Co-Op FPS games on the PS3. If someone could direct me towards more, then I'll certainly check them out.
Bayonetta is really interesting. In many ways it is a spoof of the entire genre and as such the humour within the game really can come to the fore. An utterly strange game though immensely enjoyable.
God of War 1 (remastered) is of course the defining series in the genre and even the first one in the series is still great fun. I just wish they had redone the various cut-scenes throughout the game in HD, rather than just the game textures.
I played Dante's Inferno for just over an hour last night and there was no point at which I didn't think that God of War had already done the EXACT same thing. Even the button layout was spot on the same (including in quick time events, where they wouldn't need to go to that much trouble to differentiate themselves). Still, I have been enjoying the game and I think it is a bit less *PUN ALERT* forgiving than God of War.
I really enjoyed Killzone 2, but I wish it had been a bit longer. Only about 7 hours of plotline, and I didn't feel like I was truly being challenged until right near the end. I have already pre-ordered Killzone 3, which should be awesome.
I've put in pre-orders for Dragon Age II, Killzone 3, Crysis 2 and Homefront (one of the games I've been most curious about since I heard about it - it should be interesting to just see how emotionally engaging the game gets).
Been playing Resistance 2 online. Very mind numbing...rush, rush, rush, rush, rush, stupid button..., rush, rush, rush, contoller? what? NO!, grab other controller, rush, rush, rush, hide in corner, use the pot, rush, rush, rush, where did all the cheetos go?, rush, rush, rush, rush, oh...homework...yeah..., rush, rush, rush, rush, rush, rush, rush, rush, my eyes hurt, I should stop, rush, rush, done.

You can turn auto aim off in the options.
What difficulty did you play Killzone 2 on CA, endgame is tough even on normal, but on hard the whole game is a relentless 10 hours or so constantly fighting the clever bastards back and cautiously advancing. Maybe I suck and shouldn't have waxed my chest.

Started played HAWX yesterday.
At first, without a joystick, I was utterly frustrated with the controls. I kept crashing and it was really quite frustrating.
Then I decided to bring out my joystick and now the game got a lot better. The game is a lot of fun once you get used to the controls/buy a joystick.
Combat is simple and straightforward, but at the same time, not easy. Dogfighting is tough and frantic as you search for targets and try to get a missile lock. The missions are varied, from bombing terrorist camps to escorting bombers to protect them from swarms of enemy fighters (a lot of fun, btw).
But a few points Id like to mention:
1) Bad save system. Missions can take a while, about 20-30 minutes depending on the mission. But the game doesnt let you save. Now I understand why that may have been done, but for god's sake, when we save, let us be able to quit the game and pick up later when we start the game up. As of now, saves during a mission only last for that mission. If your house comes under attack from zombies and you need to shut the game down halfway through a mission to fight them off, when you load up the game you start from space 1 of the mission. Annoying if you ask me.
2) Kinda arcadey. Not as arcadey as other flight sims Ive seen, but if you are looking for a LOMAC or other type of flight sim like that this is not the place. You wont be spending hours memorizing command sequences on how to lock onto a target and launch a missile. Nor will you have to learn how to take off and land. Which kinda disappoints me because taking off and landing in LOMAC is one of the funnest things in the game for me. Nothing like going through a 17-point procedure just to get your plane in flight condition.
But dont get me wrong, HAWX very fun, great missions and very good AI, IMO, but dont expect it to be the next-gen flight sim.
Umm....now that I got my SNES back from my friend, I have been playing MKII again.

It had a lot of trouble when they released it, but after they patched it was a decent game. It was always very nice visually. I still fire it up occassionally for a quick tourney.
I'm playing Pokémon White; already played the game in Japanese, but I got stuck after the seventh badge due to the language barrier... I can speak very little Japanese and read even less!

It was, but only PS2 quality. The game redone looks really nice, but they didn't redo the cut-scenes for some reason, which look terrible.
Dragon Age 2 for me today.
Done with Enslaved, very good game, great sense of wonder. While not as good, WAY too unpolished for a console game, it comes close to the charm of Beyond Good and Evil (which has been released in HD on PSN and live, get it NOW and fall in love with Jade you can't help it she's soooooooo adorable). Enslaved is just great escapism, sadly, like Beyond Good and Evil, very few people will indulge. What is wrong with ya, if you don't buy games like this they will stop making them, and we will all be missing out. Fans of Beyond Good and Evil should get it right now, not yet-fans should get both and join us

After 4-ish years I think Team Fortress 2 is finally, without a shadow of a doubt, broken. Far too many premium items make the game an exercise in frustration. I'll be honest in saying that at first I really didn't see the problem with the items. Most tended to change how a class played rather than giving unbalanced advantages. But somewhere around the Sniper update that really changed for the worst.. and now it's absolutely out of control. Did you see the Shogun 2 tie-in items? The katana for demoman and soldier? Get a kill and you get FULL LIFE. No - not a small health boost. Not a gradual incrementation. Automatic full health, as if you ran over the largest med-kit...
I tried to go in game a week or so ago and I just couldn't do anything. Heavies with 20% damage boost, spies with instant kill-to-disguise kits.. it's.. dumb now. No, i don't know how else to put it. It's dumb. ~:(

Lockpicking is easy as hell once you figure out the sounds. There's no point in making it a major skill once you know the trick because you will literally never lose lockpicks.
To put it simply, click when you hear "ka-TINK" instead of just the one noise.
Or you can just use spells! That having been said, I never learned that trick, and so relied on semi-reliable spells. Unlock anything within 15 feet? Awesome. Cast on a wall if you need to open a gate or something.
In between DoW2 and TWS2 I've been sneaking in some Deus Ex. Still a claaaaaaassic game, and there are some really neat tools to modernize it a bit.
Spells?! Sounds?! That never even occured to me! Thanks alot for the advice! :D
Can't go wrong with JC Denton! I play that game too from time to time, but having played thru it so many times, after the Hong Kong level, I tend to lose interest. Still a good game though.

I've just replayed Deus Ex for the godknowshowmanyth time and I've never felt the need to spruce it up with graphics mods. Gameplay is not a function of graphics, to butcher a JC quote.

Its not a matter of sprucing it up, its a matter of stopping it from running at 500 fps in fast motion and fixing the graphics from being a completely washed out, hideous mess. The game just does not like new hardware.

Every couple years I reinstall that and do a run through of the SP campaign. So much fun, and the graphics have aged relatively well. They've got that 'charm' certain games get after they are no longer modern. Plus it helps I really dig the game universe, so much fun to explore/learn about.

Just got Crysis 2 on PS3.
Besides some framerate issues, it's really good. the graphics are stunning, and even though im still getting used to the armor effects, it adds an extra dimension to the game.
What I love is that I bought the game thinking it would be like a "1-man army, tank through everybody while invisible with iron man armor on with guns" sorta game, but it turns out that its more like a traditional FPS, with those temporary armor effects that make it somewhere more in-between CoD and a game like Iron Man or something similar.
Very good game. Love it.
Also playing Crysis 2. It makes a terrible first impression even graphic-wise, but it gets really good after an hour or two. The visuals get really good alright, but I'm especially impressed by the sound. Awesome, suit gives you the edge but you have to play it tactically.
I'm not judging or anything, but just an observation, but for a forum dedicated to a PC exclusive series, a surprising number of Orgers seem to play most of their games on console. Its just unusual, and I'm wondering why it is.
I have PS3 too but unfortunately I cant afford $60 games all the time, so I mainly use it for video streaming. I need to get hooked up to gamefly or blockbuster.

But I suppose that's also why it makes a terrible impression graphics-wise. ~;)
IIRC the PS3 has a graphics card roughly equivalent to an NVidia 79xx series card. With some optimisations etc. that is fine but PCs have gone a long way since then.
Good to know it's fun anyway though, don't have a lot of money for new games either at the moment though.

I dont know if I can agree with you on this. I have Gold too, but I thought Empire's graphics were excellent. MTW2 also has good ones as well, but not as good as Empire.
On another note, Im finding battles pretty hard. I downloaded the mod Stainless Steel 6.4 and its very fun, but battles are really hard. In the sense that I lose a ton of people. In my last battle (I was playing late-campaign) I (HRE) had around 2300-ish men, and they (Denmark) had like 2500. I lost 1500 men, but killed like 2000 of them.
Though it was a great victory, it was a massive blow to my army invading Denmark, and I had to turn back because my army was decimated. I think it has to do with the fact that Im not used to the idea that infantry, even heavy ones, cant hold up very well against cavalry even in sustained battle (as they could in EB) and that you need more heavy cavalry.
In the battle I had lots of infantry and only 3 cavalry units (not including general). They had many more cavalry and some infantry.
I think thats why I lost so many men.
Any MTW2 vets here who can give me some advice?

Got Crysis Warhead on Steam for a mere $5, and yet I still feel ripped off.
I've had Crysis since release and it's multiplayer is plagued with problems. I thought Crysis Warhead might be better since it had more support.
Nope, same deal. No servers run punkbuster (because, I'm assuming like Crysis vanilla, stupid bugs yet to be fixed prevent admins from running PB without crashing their servers), so coming across someone who doesnt cheat is more of an occasion than coming across someone who does. Every Power Struggle server runs nothing but boring Mesa day and night. Every server has a bunch of really horrible mods that ruin the game.
And this is after they cancelled Crysis 1.3 mid-development just to get people to buy Warhead. Well its settled now, I'm never buying a Crytek product again. Its a joke. I can only imagine the problems with Crysis 2 multiplayer (aside from the fact that its a passionless Call of Duty ripoff).

I'm angry that Power Struggle, one of the most ambitious multiplayer modes ever in an FPS game, was scrapped in favor of pint-sized maps with recycled game modes and killstreak rewards.
The demo only has MP, so I hope it's not that Graphic is talking about MP while the others are talking about SP, or is it?

Its all about data. When I was playing Crysis Wars, which I loved but cant anymore because I have a crappy internet connection, the PS servers were very light on people, while the more traditional game types like deathmatch and stuff were always packed.
So the question arose in Crytek, "Why should we waste effort on a game type that not many people play when we can put those resources to better use that will bring us more money?"
It all comes down to money. It sounds shallow, but its true. Game devs want to make money. The COD franchise is hugely popoular with a formula that is proven to win. Itt would be dumb not to copy it in one form or another.
Looks like it. Haven't played the MP but the story-mode couldn't be more anymore different, it's the exact opposite of COD4 (as far as genre conventions allow). Hope they improve the (bad) AI and include coop next time around

Yes, actually. I think I got really far on the Babylon campaign, tried the Japanese campaign and got stuck on the mission where you have like 5 guys to start with.
The funny part about it is that I had played AoE back when I was like 6 or 7. Thought it was way too hard, decided to shelf it. Picked it up now, 9 years later, and thought "pff. this'll be a pushover for me and my superior skills of a 16 year old!".
Boy was i wrong XD
Just keep playing, and your skills will develop. This game is a matter of practice, and I honestly dont know how long it took me to get decent at it. Now, I'm going to preface this with saying that I saw a few episodes of a lets play of it, and thought "pssshhh. this guy is such a wussy! cowering in a corner. all careful and what not. pfft. i bet i wouldnt even get scared."
however after playing about an hour of it:
HOLY *insert stream of curse words here* !!!!! I just about crapped myself several times already. this junk is SCARY. I havent even seen the bad guy monster thingy yet, ive only heard him, and it sent me into a freakin panic. just got into the wine cellar, got the calamine and moved the stuff out of the doorway. too scared to proceed for right now, maybe tomorrow.
man, this is potentially scarring. even Call of Pripyat wasnt this creepy. at least in that game you just got scared, something jumped at you, you kill it, then you proceed; in Amnesia its just being hyped and hyped and hyped and its horrifying, to say the least.
great job guys, if your goal was to make men cry like small children after playing your game, Amnesia gets a 10/10.
Don't miss out on their Penumbra games. Amnesia evoked the type of fear only Thief could untill now. Hearing is so much worse than seeing.

Hmmm...I would enjoy hearing an opinion from one who is not so good, you know? Is it fun because it is fun, or because you are dominating?
TBH, i asked myself the same question. and i really do not have an answer :/. I feel like if i say its because i dominate then it wont be as fun (ok, it will, but i wont feel as good about it), but if i say its because its fun, then im not being very honest.
so ill say both. i love the engine and gameplay generally, and the MP builds on that with well-constructed maps and fun games. but the fact that i destroy everything i see certainly helps it.
probably the same thing id say about bad company 2, as far as helicopter maps go; its fun for me because i dominate the ground troops with my air superiority, but its also fun because its a pretty good game overall.
i think theres a certain degree that both have to play for a game to be really enjoyable for you; too difficult but a good game makes for a boring/aggravating experience, while an overly easy yet badly constructed game leaves you wanting more from your experience than simple bragging rights.
for me, theres a perfect balance.
Should be worth buying then.
Tried it as well, it's incredibly fun. It's liquid smooth and no lag whatsoever. Kill ratio is 50/50 or so but I'm not that good at console shooters. The game is amazingly balanced to my surprise
EDIT 50/50 lololol I wish I suck badly

Ok, Amnesia is really screwing with me. Last night after playing a horrendously scary part, I was laying in bed when i heard something trying to open my doorknob, like shaking it (it was locked so it couldnt turn). Jumped outta bed, thinking it was my mom or a sibling, opened the door, nobody. everybody was asleep (close to midnight), and i asked my mom and she said she didnt do it.
So my only conclusion is that Amnesia is really effing with my mind.
Or your family is enjoying your gibbering terror. I did the same crap to my sister. It stopped being fun pretty fast, though.
Amnesia is great! If you are that terrified then you are enjoying it.

Spot on. I keep meaning to play it but my mouse hovers over the icon and I realise I kind of don't want to feel that way...
Truly an amazing game.

I can only play it in like 20 minute segments. with the lights on. and the tv on. and lots of kids running around downstairs yelling. and still am close to dirtying my pants.

Unacceptable. The lights must be off, you must be alone and wearing noise-cancelling headphones.

I'm not sure if I can handle that without imagining monsters every time i try to sleep. god this game makes me feel like the biggest wuss.
I sooo want to play this game now. Not so much "are you scared?" but "are you handling it better than PI?"
BTW, you are doing a better job at it than my sister was.

i might make a conscious effort to try and be a badass, just fearless and bold. and you should totally play it. its the scariest thing you will ever play.

Nah Thief is, Amnesia is scary but there can only be one, and it's Thief.
Anyway, Crysis 2 is awesome, the AI isn't good enough in sp, but it all comes together in mp. Tracking footsteps and all that, screw armour, speed and a SMG for teh win

Ok, so I am in the middle of my first encounter with the walking monster that can kill you, after you blow up the blockage of rocks, and get the rods or something for the elevator .
Holy. Mother. *******. Balls.
It is 4:24 PM, I have the tv on, lots of daylight coming through the window, and am making a deliberate attempt to stay cool.
After unwittingly opening a door with this thing behind it, running for my life (blindly, because a flashback thing activated and I couldnt see), and coming back from my hiding spot to see it standing in the cooridor I had to pass through to proceed, I was sort of scared. and it was intense hiding from it behind a counter so I could get past it.
But when I kept going, thinking I wouldn't see him anymore for a while, and ran RIGHT INTO HIS ******* FACE!!!! I screamed as loud as I could repeatedly like a little girl. my brother literally yelled for my 9 year old sister to shut up.
After going into my little brothers room to calm down, I came back, ran the hell away, and barricaded myself (thoroughly) into a room. I don't know what to do now, I reallllly dont wanna load that save back, but I know I have to.

Haha my mom rushed upstairs after several other encounters that ended similarly (with me screaming at the top of my lungs in a pitch I didnt know I could reach), and inquired similarly. I just have to. I don't have a reason but I feel compelled to finish this game, even if it means losing my voice screaming my face off.

You don't like scary. For some experiencing fear while never being in danger is quite the thrill, and Amnesia is the king of dread atm. Said it before but it can't be said enough, Amnesia-fans should also play the Penumbra games, pure terror
First complaint about Crysis 2, the punishment for spray&pray style is too big, I like to play really fast, speed is the only power I use, surely an assault rifle should mow down everything within 5 meter when casually aiming. Hope the SMG will have a tighter spread on the move, 2 more levels before unlockage

I find Penumbra more like a psych-thriller, than all out fear inducing that Amnesia is.

Fair enough, it doesn't assault you in the same way, but it's incredibly atmospheric in a 'do I really have to go there' kinda way. Setting beats Amnesia's with ease, soooo lonely soooo eerie

My computer has been having some issues running newer games recently so I've been playing DotA. Its been pretty good to get back into it but hard to find a good game.
Alright, so now that high school is over, Imma run down some of my favourites:
Shining force
Final Fantasy 9 - maybe...I played it not that long ago, so I might not
Ocarina
Meh what I WANT to play is Crysis 2 deathmatch, but it's getting increasingly difficult to find a game. What the hell is wrong with you people got anything better to play at the moment
