If you don´t know who to vote for, don´t vote. Especcially when your vote can knock somebody off this easily, I don´t like that you don´t explain your reason to not vote nolynch when that seems to be a good option at this time. So..
Unvote: NoLynch; Vote johnhughthom
There you go, good boy. :beam:
:wall:
If you guys make another bad choice... I'll phaser myself.
Sorry everyone but voting technically closed over 6 hours ago so I'm afraid that I can't count any votes beyond post # 79. For what it's worth though, at this point in the game nobody gets permanently removed. I'll post a write-up shortly.
End Day 2
There was very little discussion that day. Only one crewmember was willing to speak up and vote for Khazaar. He was escorted to the brig.
Suddenly, the ship began to slow. Something was wrong with the engines, and it would take at least another day to reach Rura Penthe!

In the brig and unable to contribute to voting or night actions
Khazaar
AskthePizzaGuy (scheduled to be released tonight)
Begin Night 2. Those of you with night orders have until 1600 PST to send in your orders (that's in 24 hours)
Oh, johnhughthom, you don't fool me at all with your "oh, I have no idea what's going on, deary me... I do declare I'll vote 'randomly'...." routine.
As soon as they bust me out of here, I'm going after you, and I don't care who knows it.
Cannibalism?
Unfortunately, I've looked all over and haven't had much luck finding clips from ST VI for the write-ups. I did, however, find this:

I´m a bit annoyed that the round was closed in such a way. I would really prefer a post that says voting closed, round over instead of retroactively closing the round. Now it looks like the round continued to the casual observer and I was just unlucky in getting tossed into the brig where actually Johnhuntingtons vote coincidentially was in just before rounds end (or not?). When you can´t make a rounds end as a moderator, isn´t it possible to just extend it until you can actually close it? Seems fairer to me...
Johnhuntington clearly abused the system and he might have doomed Kirk and Bones to freezing death. So whatever you do next round, make sure he´s behind bars.
I don't know whether that was an in-character jibe or not but I certainly haven't abused the system, oh and ATPG my vote for Khazaar was entirely random but my vote for you was out of small minded jealousy for how you totally fooled me in Dark Descent. :clown:
I would just like to let the boys stuck on Rura Penthe know voting for me is a bad idea if you want to be able to vote.
In hindsight, Khazaar does make a good point, and it's naive of me to expect everyone to keep an eye out on the time (and to translate to PST, especially if they live outside of North America). But on the other hand, it may not be fair if someone gets voted due to last-minute votes after the round was supposed to end.
My other option is to end each round at a specific time every day so that you all know what to expect. Unless there is serious opposition to this idea, I will end all subsequent rounds at 1800 PST (0100 GMT the following day), even if I'm not there at that exact moment to end it. 1800 PST is best for my schedule. I'll let you all discuss this during the current night phase in the thread (I know it's not a lot of time, but I'll extend the phase by one hour), and if everyone's ok with it, the next day phase will end at 1800 PST on 7/22 (0100 GMT 7/23).
The current night round gets extended to 1700 PST, 000 GMT.
Gamemaster's Note: Unless there is serious opposition to this idea, I will end all subsequent rounds at 1800 PST (0100 GMT the following day), even if I'm not there at that exact moment to end it. If any players (or moderators) have any concerns about this, please let me know. I'm trying to balance fairness vs. my schedule, without sacrificing fun which is why we're all here in the first place, right?
End Night 2
The Enterprise streaked through the stars, unable to exceed warp 5. The new ETA to rescue the Captain and Doctor was tonight. As the crew assembled, they noticed that Uhura's communications console had been tampered with! There was now a chance that Kirk and McCoy's votes might not be received.
"The saboteur was likely the one behind the framing of Kirk and McCoy," said Spock. "Therefore it is logical that we proceed with our voting as we have before."
"Will locking people in the brig for two nights really solve the case?" asked an ensign.
"I will not make any condemnations without the Captain present. We are on schedule to pick him up tonight, at which point we may consider harsher methods."
"Aye, sir" mumbled the crew, hoping that they'd reach him in time.
AskthePizzaGuy was then released and allowed to go about his duties. He stopped by the security office and noticed that a phaser was missing...
Begin Day 3. Voting will concluded at 1800 PST Wednesday (0100 GMT Thursday)
Locked in the brig and unable to vote:
Khazaar
Venturing a theory:
it's very clear that the implication is that Kirk and McCoy are not the saboteurs on board the enterprise. It seems almost unfair for the host to clear both of them as suspects via the story. But it is also clear to me that there is a saboteur on board, from the writeup. That smells to me like we have at least two mafia, one on the enterprise, and one impostor who took the place of Kirk or McCoy. Perhaps that shapeshifting alien. I would guess either Kirk or McCoy are a 50/50 shot at being guilty. To make things even more problematic, I am guessing that since we are trying to rescue these two, there would be some penalty for lynching/killing the wrong one.
But there is someone on board who is also guilty. Khazaar is either cleared or at the very least unable to hurt us. I'm looking at Beskar, john, and atheotes... who to pick, who to pick. I said I would vote for john.... but I'm not sure.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Say it in Russian! :laugh4:
[Russian mode]
Wenturing a theory:
It's wery clear that the wessels are noo-clee-err. Excuse me, sir! Can you direct us to the nawal base in Alameda? It's where they keep the nuclear wessels. NUCLEAR WESSELS... Name. My name? No, my name. I do not know your name. You play games with me mister, and you're through. I am? May I go now? We are in an enemy wessel. I did not wish to be shot down on our way to our own funeral. Pavel, talk to me... Name! Rank! Chekov, Pavel. Rank... Admiral.
But there is someone on board who is also a wessel. Khazaar is either cleared or at the wery least wery wery unable to damage us. I'm looking at seweral people, I do not know who to pick. It's wery wexing.
Also how you know I'm townie: I'm doing schtick.
Oy gewalt.
Round ends in 5 hours 18 minutes. There haven't been any votes yet, but I really can't extend it because I'd like to keep things moving here, so please get those votes in! :beam:
hmm...i do not really understand the mechanics... so Vote:Abstain for now...
Locking Pizzaguy away made sure nothing happened.
On that logic.
Vote: AskthePizzaGuy
Wait, it was? My error.
Unvote: AskthePizzaGuy
Reminder that round closes in 3 hours. The grandparents are taking us out to dinner tonight and I therefore won't be around to announce the closure of the voting. Nor do I know exactly what time I'll be back. I would appreciate it if you all could just remind each other when the round ends.
With relatives leaving tomorrow, and me returning to work during the day, my schedule will finally show some bit of being normal again. I should be around to announce the end of each round at 1800 PST (0100 GMT) from now on (hopefully). Thank you all again for your patience, my daughter and I appreciate it.
Vote:Beskar
Yeah, yeah. You didn't notice my comms console was sabotaged, I believe you...
Since I was looking for night kills and didn't read, yeah.
vote: johnhughthom
Because I revealed who I was which is a pro-town role in first round.
Off to dinner, Round ends in 15. Thanks
Vote: JOHNHUGHTHOM
edit: ah poopy I'm too late.
End Day 3
Due to the sabotage, Uhura wasn't able to hear Kirk and McCoy's votes. After a tally, there was a tie between Beskar and johnhughthom.
"As I do not wish to deplete the senior staff here any more than necessary, I will break the tie by my own executive order," said Spock. "Logic demands that johnhughthom spend some time in the brig."
"And after two nights they get released?" asked the same ensign from the previous day. "How is any of this bringing us closer to finding the traitor?"
"I will not give any commands that would condemn a crewman. That is for Captain Kirk alone to decide."
"And if he's dead? Then what?"
"As you humans are fond of saying, we shall cross that bridge when we get to it."
On the way to the brig, they walked past the weapons station which now was missing two phasers...
https://img43.imageshack.us/img43/1460/entabrig.jpg
The Enterprise continued on towards Rura Penthe. Even without the skills of their chief engineer, they would certainly reach Kirk and McCoy by tonight, but unfortunately all communications had been lost. Would they still be alive when they made it?
Begin Night 3. Those of you with night orders have until 1800 PST Thursday (0100 GMT Friday). I promise tomorrow's write-up will be more punctual!
In the brig and unable to vote/night actions
Khazaar

Phaser stealing bastards. I want one too, I´d feel a lot safer...
ok, it is not me, it is not pizza, it is not Khazaar and it is not John...
That leaves: Tratorix; AVSM and Atheotes.
Now, which two are on the planet? because the Mafia is one that is not.
Just playing devils advocate here, messing with your heads for locking me up maybe? The fact that I'm currently in the brig up doesn't necessarily mean I couldn't have stolen the phasers....
Thank you for throwing Spanner in the works, Mr. John! :smash:
I was hoping it was, then we can get rid of the Mafia and win the game.
Wait, I worked it out, it is Atheotes!! Atheotes is the Mafia!!!
Look at the write-up. As I said, I am Spock, it isn't Pizza, out of that, everyone else voted.
Two votes weren't heard, two people didn't vote, AVSM and Tratorix, this leaves the last person to be Atheotos.
Atheotos is the mafia!!! Now to brig him. :beam:
Not really, I voted you, you voted me and atheotes abstained (+AtPG's late vote). atheotes could be on the planet, whether his vote was heard or not would'nt have effected the outcome of a draw between you and I. A tally from Iskander over the votes would shed some light on the situation though, cough, cough
nudge,nudge
Come on Iskander give us a tally!!!! :clown:
I think my theory is correct, if not.. it was a good one at least.
ATPG's guy vote was not counted, if so, you would have been brigged. Two votes were not cast (two were not heard), even though Atheotos abstained, it still affects the tally.
It has to be him.
atheotes vote was counted: one vote Beskar, one vote johnhughthom, one abstain. Tie between Beskar and johnhughthom.
atheotes vote was not counted: one vote Beskar, one vote johnhughthom. Tie between johnhughthom and Beskar.
We need the actual tally before we can be sure of your theory, even then how do we know you are Spock?
And anyhoo, and much more important, the write up says a tie between Beskar and me was decided by Spock. If Beskar is Spock I demand a rerun, this is not ethical!!!
mutter, mutter, damn ship politics, mutter, mutter, mutiny, scum, hope they rot on that damn planet
As I said, I am Spook, therefore, Spook wouldn't vote on himself, would he? "I must logically deduct, I will send myself to the Brig".
However, I do believe you are now innocent, also, you also forget that "two votes were not heard" and also "two people didn't vote"
Since the others have either been in the brig, or in the brig, this leaves the choice either me or Atheotos. Since it is not me, as I am Spook, it must be Atheotos. Thus, I suggest we send Atheotos to the brig. Afterall, the worst punishment is being in the brig for a couple of days.
The ghost of Spock?
Will be when I get killed.
Night is over, write-up commencing.
On Rura Penthe
Kirk and McCoy found themselves surrounded by several Klingons with disrupters pointed!
"Someone wants you out of the way. An accident can be convincing for killing one of you, but not two. Now killed while trying to escape...now that's convincing for both!"
"Who? Who wants us out of the way?"
"Since you're all going to die anyways, why not tell. There's a traitor on your ship. This traitor's name is..."
Before anything could happen, they were both transported back to the Enterprise.
https://img33.imageshack.us/img33/83...ransporter.jpg
https://img33.imageshack.us/img33/55...matterbeam.jpg
(Kirk's view)
On the Enterprise
"Stupid...son of a...they were just about to explain the whole thing!" said Kirk.
"Would you like us to beam you back down?" asked Chekov.
"Absolutely not!" said McCoy.
After Spock briefs Kirk, Kirk decides to make an executive decision
"Those in the brig are to be released, and are free to go about their duties. But they are still under suspicion. Today, Khazaar and johnhughthom will each start with one vote against them."
"I can administer a truth serum," suggested Dr. McCoy. "It would, unfortunately, knock the recipient unconscious for an entire month."
"Very well," said Kirk. "Starting with today's vote, the person with the most votes will be forced to take this serum."
Begin Day 4. Voting will end abruptly at 1800 PST Friday (0100 GMT Saturday). The "winner" of each vote will from now on be removed from the game!
Vote: Atheotos for reasons I explained earlier.
I'm not convinced on atheotes. I read your earlier theory, I didn't see why it necessarily follows. Can you explain it to me? I took my stupid pills this morning aboard a nuclear wessel.
It doesn't necessarily follow.
Look, I need Tratorix and AVSM to confirm they were the two on the planet. If they were, my theory holds a lot of water. Unfortunately, I doubt they would come forward, as the Cpt. dying would be a bad situation if my theory is wrong.
The theory works like this -
Two on planet were not heard - Tratorix and AVSM both did not vote
The Mafia is definitely not - AskthePizzaGuy, John and Khazaar.
I am Spock - Hopefully you can tell I am obviously a townie.
This leaves - Atheotos.
So if I am correct about the write-ups and the "not mafia" are infact, not Mafia, then the theory is legitimate.
What did you do last night, Beskar?
Just because they did not vote does not mean Tratorix and AVSM are on the planet, the sabotaged comm station was not known until after the round ended. If we had a tally that let us know atheotes vote was counted then I would give your theory credence, we don't however so there is no way to prove your idea.
Meh. I was hoping to get more information before making my choice. Atheotes is still on my suspect list and so yes, I have to want to go along with it. However I am still considered scummy to some and I'm not sure if my support would be a help or a hindrance.
vote: atheotes
ok...let me take a stab at it even though i dont understand completely...
AVSM has not participated in this game for quite some time now...
tratorix voted and unvoted last phase... if they were both prevented from voting i am guessing they would have told that i guess...
Did you ignore these just to fit in your theory or was it deliberate misleading :inquisitive:
your vote counted and John's vote counted - so the only thing we can deduct is that you were not the 2 who were out of communication :book:
honestly i dont know where the game is going... in the 3 nights and days - we have only had the communication system disabled and everyone is still alive :dizzy2:
p.s. Beskar my name is Atheotes...
Hello, I'm William Shatner, and I AM CANADIAN
Vote: johnhueythomethingoranother
I'm the Russian guy, and I have the ability to investigate once. That's kind of why I was all tickled off you guys shoved me in the brig. I checked out Beskar and he is fine.
As a proud captain, I have two votes. Phear me.
Ay lads, beeing in the Brig doesn´t really clear you of anything as far as I can see. Nothing really happened so far, crunchtime starts now. But we had three nights, so if we do have a detective there should be some info already.
Two people hold a phaser before Kirk (claimed AVSM) and Bones (claimed noone) came aboard.
It can´t hurt to know who is claiming to be who:
Kirk: AVSM
Ohura: Johnhughtom
Checkov: ATPG
Spock: Beskar
Scotty: Yours truly
Sulu:?
Bones:?
I´d consider this whole thing starting in earnest now. Vote: Johnhughtom because your vote was fishy and you could have one of the phasers.
Are you still banging on about my vote being the last one counted, well I'm sorry for checking the time the previous round had ended and making sure I got my vote in on time.
What on earth would a nice girl like me want with phasers, would I even know how to use one? I mean did I ever get off the command deck, why did Kirk never bring me down to the planets? Racism or sexism perhaps?
Bloody hell, mutter, not my fault everybody else is lazy, mutter, mutter, damn captain can't even act, Family Guy nailed him, mutter, mutter
While John can be a suspect, I think we shouldn't let Atheotes slip-by. He is going to lurk his way through, if we don't act on him.
Uncertainity: while I think it is Atheotes, if I am wrong, it could be you.
It's like those products saying "we kill 99.98% of all bacteria" because all it takes is one bacteria to survive, then it is false advertising. It is called "margin of error".
No one is proven an innocent, while some are more likely than others (The Captain, Me, etc) there is still doubt and suspicion.
To be honest I was slightly annoyed by this, specifically the second paragraph, when it was posted but I let it slide as I didn't want to make a fuss and spoil the game. If it is now going to be the basis of suspicion against me then I have to take issue with it, I am basically accused of cheating because my vote was in just before the deadline? It doesn't even make sense, am I supposed to be in league with the host? I don't mind any type of abuse or banter in character, but this is an accusation of abusing the spirit of the game with no evidence.
Beskar - you still havent replied to my post pointing holes in your theory...
Khazaar, i am Valeris..and i believe Tratorix is bones...
John, do you care to explain why you threatedned that we will lose communication if we vote for you?
Vote: abstain for now
Most certainly, I am Uhura, the comms officer. If I was in the brig I wouldn't have been able to hear the votes from the players stuck on the planet, so their votes wouldn't have counted. Now they are back it is irrelevant of course. I hadn't intended for it to come across as a threat, more a friendly piece of advice.
Apparently there are some people with abilities. Does everyone else have one?
If so, why not use them to determine guilt, rather than the blind lynch.
Atheotes is abstaining to maintain his low-profile, lynch him before he lurks his way to victory.
I believe the host said something about revealing our identities being a bad idea?
Perhaps that relates to the obviousness of guilt of a certain party.
but I didn't know who Valeris was, what is to say that he knew? (that is was an obvious mafia role to the lore folk)
Well, he could have claimed Sulu as at least some of the people here don't seem to know Sulu wasn't on the Enterprise in Star Trek VI. :juggle2: Atheotes is probably the best lynch, I'm just nervous because it seems like everything is neatly wrapped up, meaning we're probably missing something.
